Community comes together for fitness and outreach event
Lebowa Funerals hosted a Mandela Day celebration on July 18 at Maoteng in Thembisa, bringing the community together through fitness, fun, and giving back.
The event kicked off with an aerobics session, led in partnership with the Phenomenal Club, a group of senior citizens who regularly train in the area.
Residents of all ages joined in under a shared goal to stay fit, receive health checks, and commemorate the spirit of Mandela Day through 67 minutes of service.

In addition to the workout, the day featured a jumping castle for children and a soup kitchen aimed at feeding at least 100 residents.
Despite working with limited space, the organisers pulled off an event filled with energy and unity.
'We chose this location because it is home to many elders who gather here to exercise.
'We wanted to celebrate Mandela Day with the grannies and the community,' said Nthabeleng Sekete, marketing manager at Lebowa Funerals.
'As a funeral service provider, we are grateful to be trusted by this community, and giving back is part of our values.
'Mandela Day is a reminder of the importance of unity and service, and today we brought together people of all ages through a variety of activities.'

Sekete added that although some community stakeholders did not attend, they were thankful to the Department of Health and YANA social workers for their support.
She also acknowledged KaJozi for sponsoring the soup kitchen, which enabled them to cater to a larger number of residents.
'We submitted numerous proposals to local businesses in the area and hope to collaborate in the future,' Sekete said.
'Even with limited resources, we were able to bring the community together and honour Mandela's legacy.'
