Nottingham Forest keen on Fulham's Adama Traoré after Dan Ndoye deal
Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the Fulham winger Adama Traoré. If a deal can be done for the 29-year-old it would see him reunite with Nuno Espírito Santo, who he worked under at Wolves. After selling Anthony Elanga and Ramón Sosa, Forest have been eager to recruit new wingers. A club-record deal was agreed for Bologna's Dan Ndoye on Monday, with the Switzerland international set to join this week after a medical is completed. Personal terms are not thought to be an issue for Ndoye, who turned down the chance of moving to Serie A champions Napoli in favour of the Premier League. Traoré has spent the past two seasons at Craven Cottage after joining on a free transfer from Wolves, where he worked under Nuno for three years, helping them finish seventh twice. The Portuguese is a huge admirer of Traoré and is pushing for a deal to be completed. Traoré played 36 times for Fulham last season, scoring twice and creating a further seven goals to help Marco Silva's men finish 11th The potential arrival of Traoréconsidered one of the quickest players in the Premier League, would help negate the loss of Elanga, who joined Newcastle for £55m earlier in the window. Going into their first European campaign in 30 years, Forest are also considering increasing their bid for James McAtee after seeing an opening offer of £20m plus £5m in add-ons rejected by Manchester City for the England Under-21 midfielder.

Adama Traoré targeted by Nottingham Forest
Adama Traoré targeted by Nottingham Forest Adama Traoré could be reunited with Nuno Espírito Santo. The powerful 29-year-old winger, currently at Fulham, has caught the eye of Nottingham Forest. The Portuguese manager knows Traoré's explosive style inside out, having previously coached him at Wolverhampton. Together, they shone on the European stage. Now, a new partnership seems possible. According to several English sources, Forest are expected to submit an official offer in the coming days. While the player's value is estimated at €9 million, Fulham are reportedly holding out for closer to €15 million. Last season, the Spaniard scored 2 goals and provided 7 assists in 36 appearances—solid stats that highlight his impact on the pitch, despite inconsistent playing time. If he leaves, Fulham could turn to Reiss Nelson, who has struggled for minutes at Arsenal and is reportedly keen to revive his career elsewhere.

Forest Set for Talks with PSV over Belgian Winger Following Elanga Exit Deal
Nottingham Forest Line Up Johan Bakayoko as Elanga Departure Nears Completion Forest Pivot to PSV Star Nottingham Forest are preparing to enter talks with PSV Eindhoven for Belgium international Johan Bakayoko, as reported by The Telegraph. The club are acting swiftly to reinforce their forward options with Anthony Elanga set to complete a record £55 million move to Newcastle United. Advertisement 'Bakayoko, the Belgium international, is emerging as a top target for Forest with talks expected to open with the Eredivisie club over a potential move to the Premier League.' At just 22, Bakayoko's profile fits the club's evolving strategy under Nuno Espírito Santo, offering dynamism, versatility and high resale value. The right-footed winger, who can operate on either flank or drift inside, is seen as a natural fit for Forest's high-tempo transitional style. With Ramon Sosa heading to Palmeiras in a £10 million deal, and talks continuing over Callum Hudson-Odoi's contract extension, Forest's attacking reshuffle is already well underway. Photo: IMAGO Advertisement Record-Breaking Transfer Fuels Summer Overhaul The Elanga deal, if certain clauses are met, could be worth up to £60 million. That would eclipse Brennan Johnson's £47.5 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, making the Sweden international Forest's most lucrative sale to date. While there was initial reluctance to part ways with Elanga, the offer proved too substantial to refuse. As The Telegraph notes, 'Elanga was signed for just £13.5 million from Manchester United in July 2023,' making this an extraordinary return on investment in less than two years. Owner Evangelos Marinakis has been heavily involved in negotiations. His direct role in driving the valuation speaks to the ambition at the top of the club, which now finds itself balancing financial sustainability with competitive targets in the Premier League and beyond. Advertisement Strengthening for European Football Nuno Espírito Santo has made it clear that squad depth is essential this season. Forest are preparing for the possibility of European football and need a team that can handle its dual demands. Two wingers are on the manager's list and Bakayoko's technical quality, coupled with his experience in European competitions, makes him a standout candidate. PSV are likely to demand upwards of £30 million for Bakayoko, which would represent a club-record signing for Forest. It signals the club's readiness to reinvest smartly, using Elanga's fee to build a more robust and balanced squad. While Bakayoko is the priority, Lyon's Malick Fofana remains an alternative. Both targets reflect Forest's intent to focus on youth, adaptability and continental pedigree. Photo IMAGO Advertisement Internal Moves and Stability Off the Pitch Off the field, Forest have confirmed the appointment of Edu Gaspar as global head of football operations, a move that could streamline recruitment and performance strategy across the club. Meanwhile, Ola Aina has committed to a new three-year deal, bolstering the defensive unit. Discussions are ongoing with Callum Hudson-Odoi, whose contract expires next summer. Retaining him would provide consistency on the flanks and maintain a core of Premier League-proven players as new arrivals settle. Forest's transfer plans feel deliberate, not reactive. With significant income generated and structural leadership reshaped, the next step is translating ambition into consistent results. Advertisement Our View – EPL Index Analysis For Nottingham Forest fans, the idea of losing Anthony Elanga so soon is difficult, but there is genuine excitement about Johan Bakayoko. The return on Elanga is huge and gives the club real financial muscle in the window, but supporters will be watching closely to see how it's spent. Bakayoko fits the bill. Young, technically sharp, with top-level experience at PSV and a full Belgian international. If Forest can land him, it sends a real message. Nuno wants his team to push higher in the league and be competitive in Europe, and this sort of signing would show serious intent. There's also confidence building off the pitch. Edu Gaspar joining is a huge step towards becoming a more modern, joined-up football operation. If Hudson-Odoi stays and someone like Fofana arrives as well, we could be looking at a wide attack that is both fast and flexible. Advertisement The key now is getting Bakayoko through the door quickly, before others start circling. Forest fans want to see a plan in place. So far, there are encouraging signs. This could be the summer the club moves into the next tier of ambition.

Transfer news: Jamie Gittens completes £55m Chelsea switch, Forest land Jesus
Chelsea have completed the signing of Jamie Gittens, with the Borussia Dortmund winger joining on a contract until 2032 in a deal expected to be around £55m. The England Under-21 international has made more than 100 appearances for the Bundesliga club and has featured in the Champions League. 'It feels great,' Gittens told the club's website. 'It's a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea. I can't wait to learn from everyone in the team and to push myself to the max here. It's an amazing feeling.' Chelsea identified Gittens, who also had interest from Bayern Munich, as a key target in January and have been negotiating with Dortmund over the 20-year-old this summer. Gittens moved to Germany from Manchester City in 2020 and made his debut late in the 2021-22 season, making 20 appearances and scoring three goals. The following season he registered 10 goal contributions in 34 games across all competitions. Last season he had 17 goal contributions before featuring for Dortmund in the Club World Cup in the United States. Nottingham Forest have signed the Brazil striker Igor Jesus on a four-year deal from Botafogo. The 24-year-old has recently returned from the Club World Cup, where he scored twice, including the winner against Paris Saint-Germain. The arrival of Jesus boosts Forest's frontline options, though Nuno Espírito Santo is poised to lose Anthony Elanga, who is expected to join longtime admirers Newcastle in a deal worth about £55m. Forest are looking to PSV's Johan Bakayoko as a replacement. Jesus, whose nickname is 'Little Frog', said: 'I'm really happy to be part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest. I didn't have to think twice about the offer. I am delighted to be coming here and hope to do some great work.' Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football after newsletter promotion Jesus was selected for Brazil's World Cup qualifiers in October and November, scoring against Chile on debut. The versatile Forest full-back Neco Williams has signed a new deal until 2029, while Ola Aina is also expected to commit his future to the club. Elsewhere, Manchester United have signed the Paraguay youth international Diego León. The 18-year full-back becomes United's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. León joins from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño, where he played 33 games and scored four goals. United said on their website: 'León reached the age of 18 in April and as an emerging talent will be supported by our first team and the academy while he settles into life in Manchester. Welcome to United, Diego.'

Romano: Liverpool miss out as Forest agree deal for Lyon star
Forest Push Forward in Transfer Race Nottingham Forest have struck a deal with Lyon for the highly-rated Belgian winger, moving ahead of fellow Premier League sides in the process — most notably Liverpool and Chelsea. Advertisement The agreement, reported by Fabrizio Romano, marks a significant step for Forest as they continue to reshape their attack under Nuno Espírito Santo. Lyon's recent relegation to Ligue 2, brought on by significant financial constraints, has forced the French club into selling several key assets. This situation appears to have enabled Forest to act decisively. The transfer fee remains undisclosed at this stage, but Forest's early action could give them a strong advantage. However, despite the agreement between clubs, personal terms with the player have yet to be finalised. Uncertainty Over Final Decision While Forest's progress signals serious intent, the move is not yet complete. The Belgian forward is believed to be assessing his options and is thought to favour a club competing in the Champions League. Interest from Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Napoli has been noted, and further discussions are likely to determine his next step. Advertisement Forest's appeal lies in the promise of regular Premier League football and a central role in their plans, but the allure of elite European competition may yet influence the final decision. Romano reported: 'The two clubs have found an agreement for the transfer of the forward, but there is currently no agreement between Forest and the player.' Photo IMAGO Implications for Elanga's Future If the deal progresses, it could have a knock-on effect on Nottingham Forest's existing squad. Newcastle United are monitoring developments closely as they remain keen on Sweden international Elanga. Newcastle have already seen an initial bid worth £45million rejected, but Forest's pursuit of the Lyon attacker could open the door for renewed discussions. Eddie Howe is eager to add a direct, pacey winger to his side ahead of the new campaign and views Elanga as a prime candidate. Advertisement Forest have so far stood firm on their valuation, yet a new arrival could shift priorities — especially with financial fair play in consideration. Other Moves Across Europe Elsewhere, Turkish midfielder Calhanoglu continues to attract interest from Galatasaray, though he remains under contract at Inter Milan until 2027. Despite reported openness to a move, no formal request has been made to leave. Calhanoglu, now 31, has delivered consistently for Inter, contributing goals and assists from deep midfield. Known for his set-piece quality and passing range, he remains one of Europe's most technically-gifted playmakers. The midfielder told DAZN: 'However, I always believed in myself. I know my qualities, and I'm not afraid of anyone.' He added: 'The others don't do what I'm currently producing on the pitch… I always look for the killer pass which increases the possibility of scoring.'
