Aldi Shoppers Say These "Dupes" Are Way, Wayyy Better Than The Originals (And Now I Want To Try Them All)

If there's one grocery chain that can pry shoppers away from their die-hard name brands, it's Aldi. Between the weekly specials and the quietly brilliant knockoffs, you never know which look-alike product will end up replacing the 'real' thing in your pantry. That's exactly what Redditor Sleepy_Gary_Busey wanted to explore when they asked r/aldi, 'Which Aldi copies do you actually prefer over the name brand?' The thread filled up fast with a few staples that Aldi fans insist are better than the originals. I sifted through the replies and pulled the 22 most-loved picks so you can decide which swaps are worth making on your next Aldi run. 1."Cheddar Turtle Crackers. Cheese Curls. Kettle Chips. Evolution ONLY bars. Blueberry Breakfast Biscuits. Organic Ketchup (flavor reminds me of Annie's, which I prefer, but that one is hard to find and certainly not $1.99)." —RedSpaceMagic 2."The Cinnamon Crunch Squares cereal is definitely one of them. I can damn near eat a whole box in one sitting. Which is why I haven't purchased any in a while." —emptyfebrezebottles 3."The aged sharp white cheddar. Knocks the socks off anything else I've tried, and I'm a womb-to-tomb Wisconsinite. I have tried a LOT of cheese." —svapplause 4."Knock Your Sprouts Off sprouted-grain bread over Ezekiel, Silver Hills, or other expensive brands that cost $8 a loaf and $10+ at Whole Foods/Sprouts/co-ops." —OrganicBn 5."Aldi Pop-Tarts have way more frosting than name-brand Pop-Tarts." —Otherwise_Rip_7337 6."I like their butter more than Challenge, which is what I usually get. I am sure there are better butters, but just as a regular ol' butter for cooking, it's the best I've had. And I'm a Southern cook, so I use a lot of it." —ItsPumpkinSpiceTime 7."The Moser Roth dark chocolate with sea salt and caramel. I will stop in just for these. I like how each big bar is divided into five individually wrapped pieces." —Commercial_Fun9634 8."Klancy Kettle Salt and Vinegar Chips. They're not as aggressively salty and vinegary as Kettle or Great Lakes, so I can eat way more before my mouth gets raw." —buffalocoinz 9."The Stackerz are better than Pringles. The fancy entertainment crackers that come in a variety pack. My toddler loves the tiny cheese sandwich crackers over the Ritz brand, and I can't eat them because I'll eat the whole box." —gurlsplaygames 10."The breakfast bars (a dupe of Nutrigrain bars). The texture is much better, and they hold together better, so there's less mess. Nutrigrain bars are too crumbly." —FloweredViolin 11."The Fiber Now Bars are a knockoff of Fiber One Bars and are better than the name brand. They have a cinnamon coffee cake flavor, chocolate fudge, and lemon. The lemon is so good and the best one to me." —Relative-Abrocoma812 12."Their Prosecco and Moscato are absolutely delicious! They also make yummy mimosas and a delicious peach bellini." —Loud_Yogurtcloset789 13."I love the hummus! Especially the roasted red pepper flavor. Sometimes a brand name will go on sale at Meijer, so I'll give it a try, but it's never comparable. Brand names are thicker/chunkier, and the flavor is never as nice. Aldi hummus all the way!" —uniquelynameduser123 14."The Hot & Spicy Pork Rinds are half the price of name-brand options and have way better crunch and flavor. Plus, they're a great alternative to chips for anyone looking to lower their carb intake. The Girl Scout cookie knockoffs are just as good, if not better than the real thing, and cost less than half the price." —Mr_Evil_Guy 15."The Never Any! Bacon is my favorite over any other brand because of ingredients, price, quality, and flavor. My husband prefers Aldi Doritos over name-brand Doritos because the chips are better. And then always red bag chicken nuggets over other brands." —illbeyourgoodgirl_ 16."Their original unsweetened almond milk is better than every other brand I've tried. It has a mild flavor, way more similar to actual milk, and works well in recipes. I use it a lot, but in my coffee, I've noticed other brands get WAAAY too foamy if you do any blending with them — Aldi's doesn't. It's also the only almond milk that works well with cereal." —Atrinoisa 17."The homestyle canned biscuits are excellent, and my family prefers them over Pillsbury now." —durden226circa1988 18."The bag of peanut butter cups is my favorite! They are especially amazing with the warm, melty peanut butter in the summer." —Spacey_fangirl 19."The plain Greek yogurt! Half the price of the name brands, usually $2–$3 cheaper than the other store brands near me, and just as good." —mangus42 20."They recently redid their fruit snacks in the big blue box. Fruit snacks are one of my guilty pleasures. These new ones are firmer and have a much better flavor than the old ones. The Specially Selected marinara sauce is bomb. Especially Selected sharp white cheddar block. Their cottage cheese is the only one I will eat. Something about it; I don't know if it's creamier or saltier or what, but it's the best." —mouseSXN 21."The cheddar popcorn and the gluten-free chicken breast pieces (best gluten-free nuggets I've had, and I've tried a lot of brands). Also, the gluten-free bread is the closest to a normal bread loaf size I've seen for a gluten-free product." —Ellocina 22."We've tried so many sourdoughs, other than fresh, Aldi's sourdough has been the best store-bought." —yomaishimi Have a favorite Aldi dupe I missed? Mom slams Pop-Tarts for not resolving VERY obvious issue with its packaging

A disgruntled mom did not hold back as she slammed Pop-Tarts for their inefficient labeling on their packaging. The frustrated woman, only known as Sapphyre online, took to TikTok to call out the brand for not labeling the flavor of the snack on each individual packet. 'Guys, Pop-Tarts, this is for you. If you're not Pop-Tarts you can scroll. 'It is 2025. Is it too much to ask that Pop-Tarts be labeled on the outside what freaking flavor they are?' she scathed in the 24-second video. 'So when you have two different kids who like two different flavors, you don't have to label them so they don't open the wrong one and then leave it to get stale?' As she spoke, the mom was labeling the individually wrapped packs manually with a marker. And her clip seemed to resonate with other parents - who rushed to the comments with advice. 'It's printed under the flap on the other side. Sometimes it gets cut off but it's there,' they wrote. However, some commenters bashed the mom for not keeping the treats in their original boxes. 'If only they came in a box that labeled them,' someone said. 'That's why you leave them in the original box. Like how hard is that???' another wrote. The mom responded to a comment about keeping them in their boxes. 'We have a big snack box that holds all our things like this (like the Nutrigrain bars/little Debbie's/etc)so my kids can easily access it all, instead of cluttering the counter area with all the boxes,' she explained. Though some people disagreed with the mom's method, many users could relate to her complaint and shared their own experiences. 'I agree! Or be in a more protective bag so they don't crumble if they're not in the box!' a user explained. 'The off-brand ones label their wrappers. Pop-Tarts should catch up,' a person urged. The frustrated woman, only known as Sapphyre online, took to TikTok to call out the brand for not labeling the flavor of the snack on each individual packet (stock image) 'I LOATHE that Pop-Tarts do not come labeled individually. We have all been in a serious relationship with Pop-Tarts they owe us this one thing,' someone admitted. Others chimed in with more frustrating grocery issues. 'While we're at it can we please put bacon in a resealable package,' someone said. 'Kind of why does cereal not have like a zipper lock,' a person wrote. Another said about Pop-Tarts: 'It's 2025 they need to put the icing all the way to [the] edges!!' A spokesperson for Pop-Tarts responded to request for comment: 'We are continually evaluating our packaging graphics for our Pop-Tarts... 'Our intention was never for our packaging graphics to cause concern, and we are sorry that it did.'

Leland Vittert's War Notes: Defying Political Logic

Cost of MAHA: Liberty (my sister) is out with a must-read opinion piece in The Hill, 'MAHA will make groceries UNAFFORDABLE again.' Never talked about in the discussion of dyes and ultraprocessed foods is the cost of taking them out. 'For example, a dye-free snack bar from Truvani — the health food company of one of MAHA's most vocal proponents — runs $42 for 12 bars, compared to $5 for 12 Nutrigrain bars that do have artificial food-dyes,' Liberty writes. Liberty joins us tonight on whether Americans will pay the cost of going healthy. Bonus coverage: 'Is Ozempic Really the Reason Americans Are Snacking Less?' headlines The Wall Street Journal. By the rules of politics, Donald Trump had a God-awful, lousy week. A sinking stock market. The Dow closed out today with a loss of 700 points. A major national security scandal. For more on SignalGate, read Wednesday's 'War Notes' here. Deporting multiple college students. Over 300 student visas have been revoked, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Consumer confidence is down. The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index fell to 57.0 – its lowest rating since 2022. Trump announced tariffs that will raise the cost of many cars by thousands of dollars. According to the Anderson Economic Group, prices of cars could rise between $4,000 and $12,000 with the proposed tariffs. For a wrap-up of Trump's week, check out NPR's piece, which shows how the Left is almost giddy with Trump's recent bad fortune. BUT: The rules of politics don't apply to Donald Trump. An Economist/YouGov poll shows his personal approval rating up two points as of Tuesday. The number of Americans who say the country is on the right track is the highest it's been in over a decade. Oh, and most of the big law firms that waged war against Trump and Republicans are rolling over while promising millions in pro bono work to Trump's pet projects. The big law divide over capitulation versus fighting Trump in his retribution campaign is an awesome sideshow to watch. Conclusion: There's something going on that the American people are responding to. Watch here: Tim Walz explaining the problems of the Democratic Party – namely not being bolder on DEI and wokeness: 'We let them define the issue on immigration. We let them define the issue on DEI. And we let them define what 'woke' is. We got ourselves in this mess because we weren't bold enough to stand up and say, 'You're damn right we're proud of these policies. We're going to put them in and execute them.'' Maybe Americans feel how Jon Stewart does: 'Jon Stewart screams 'OMFG' and is rendered speechless after hearing all 14 steps to apply for 'Build Back Better' funding.' Stewart was talking to Ezra Klein, a liberal New York Times columnist, about his new book. Stewart realized why Americans feel so angry: It's because Trump is promising an answer to their anger. Reminder: Trump won by stealing the Democratic agenda on working-class issues. Warning signs: Trump's agenda can derail in many ways – a Democratic Congress would flip everything on its head. A complete stop to his legislative agenda – plus investigations into his administration. Math problems: Republicans hold a very slim majority in the House – 218 GOP seats to 213 Democrats. Special elections in Florida for former representative turned national security adviser Mike Waltz and former Congressman Matt Gaetz's seats are already too close for Republican comfort. Latest polling shows the Democratic candidate in Florida's 6th Congressional District now closely trailing the Republican within the poll's margin of error. 'How the hell is this race close,' headlines our friend Chris Cillizza. My buddy Chad Pergram with the math on Trump withdrawing Rep. Elise Stefanik's nomination for ambassador to the United Nations to protect the House majority. Warning bells from the race for a judge position on Wisconsin's Supreme Court could change the make-up of the court, but more importantly, show just how close swing states remain. Watch tonight: Steve Cortes and Nina Turner on what happens if Trump loses the House of Representatives. Cold as 💩 Vice President JD Vance showed up in Greenland today. He wasn't invited to visit anywhere in Greenland, so he arrived at a U.S. military base. 'It's cold as s–t here,' Vance told the assembled troops. Fact check: True. But not exactly the most diplomatic entry to a country that America wants to 'take over.' He then proceeded to trash Denmark: 'Denmark hasn't done a good job at keeping Greenland safe,' said Vance. Vance's Greenland trip highlights a couple of things – and none of them are good for the VP. Trump views him as an errand boy. Trump wants him to play attack dog. His portfolio is all of the administration's unpopular issues. He's unable to push back in his own defense, yet he's a lightning rod for the Left. From The New York Times on Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., trying to take on JD Vance: 'In an interview, Mr. Khanna, 48, said he intended to cast Mr. Vance as a unique threat to America's constitutional order, and argued that there was no time to waste in building the case against Mr. Vance, a likely heir to President Trump's right-wing political movement.' Trump refused to name Vance as the rightful heir of the MAGA movement. Be fair: At 40 years old, JD Vance is one of the most impressive political figures in American history. His rise is JFK-adjacent but even more impressive since he came from drug-ravaged Appalachia rather than silver-spoon Boston. Watch tonight: What's next for Vance and whether he can move out from the shadow of Trump. He needs to move out of that shadow – he has the lowest favorability rating of any new vice president, at the two-month mark of their first term, since the polling began. The Left finally figured out how to really show their displeasure with Donald Trump – by burning Teslas and stealing prosciutto, or anything else, from Whole Foods. Yes, you read that right – the billionaire heroes of the Left, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, are now villains. A year ago, driving your Tesla to Whole Foods proved that you were virtuous. Now, it's worthy of attack – literally. 🪧 This weekend, anti-Elon groups planned protests at more than a dozen Tesla dealerships across the country. Yes, protest American-made electric cars – that will certainly help Democrats win back working-class voters. And, Business Insider reports that shoplifters are taking food from Whole Foods to express their displeasure with Jeff Bezos. One thing never accounted for in politics is luck – and nothing continues to help President Trump more than those who oppose him being stupid. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
