Creamline, Chery Tiggo sweep Farm Fresh, Nxled to complete PVL On Tour semis cast

Creamline and Chery Tiggo made quick work of Farm Fresh and Nxled in their respective quarterfinals duels to complete the semifinals cast of 2025 PVL On Tour on Saturday at the Philsports Arena. Creamline had to weather a late surge from Farm Fresh before pulling off a 25-19, 25-19, 26-24 victory while Chery Tiggo eked out a dominant 25-17, 25-15, 25-20 decision over the Chameleons. The Cool Smashers started out hot in Set 3 after racing to a 9-3 lead with veteran opposite hitter Michele Gumabao unleashing a flurry of attacks before a Jema Galanza service ace put the multi-titled team in an 18-11 lead. But the Foxies proved they have a fight in them with middle blocker Rizza Cruz unloading back-to-back running kills that capped their 7-2 rampage and pulled them within two, 20-18. An infraction at the service line from Caitlyn Viray saw Creamline clinch the match point at 24-21, but Farm Fresh refused to quit and responded with three straight points led by Trisha Tubu's block on Alyssa Valdez and own attack as they forced a deadlock. Gumabao, though, answered with a familiar attack from the right side before Jeanette Panaga finished it off with an ace as Creamline cruised to the next round despite a shaky start in the tournament. Gumabao top-scored with 15 points while Valdez churned out 12 markers and nine receptions. Galanza chipped in 10 points and six digs in another display of force by Creamline. Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo displayed a collective effort in dispatching a promising crew of Nxled. Cess Robles fronted the offense with 12 points laced with four receptions, but she got ample help from the rest of her teammates with veteran Ara Galang and rookie Renee Peñaflor each posting 11 markers. The Cool Smashers are now pitted against the unbeaten PLDT High Speed Hitters while the Crossovers will take on top-seeded Cignal in the semis round that starts on Tuesday. —JKC, GMA Integrated News

Chery Tiggo knocks out Galeries to reach PVL On Tour quarterfinals

Chery Tiggo fended off a third set comeback attempt from Galeries to complete a 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 win in their knockout duel in the 2025 PVL On Tour on Saturday at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite. The Crossovers advanced to the quarterfinals where they will lock horns with Nxled in another knockout duel. Chery Tiggo wiped out a 15-17 deficit in Set 3 after Jewel Encarnacion misfired on an attack from the left wing, allowing the Crossovers to level the score at 17-all. Ara Galang then denied Encarnacion from the same side before Shaya Adorador came up clutch with a kill of her own as both spikers fueled a 5-1 rampage that totally swung the momentum in their favor, 22-18. Ces Robles punctuated the straight-sets romp by forcing a check ball on her attack for match point, before sealing the deal with a clean kill from the same spot off a perfect set from Jasmine Nabor. "Actually, hindi madali 'yung pinanggalingan nu'ng game na 'to [kasi we're] coming off two losses doon sa Creamline tapos mas frustrating 'yung talo namin sa ZUS," Chery Tiggo head coach Norman Miguel said. "Physically, mahirap kasi kulang sa preparation at conditioning. Emotionally at mentally alam mong affected pa sila. So kanina, kinausap ko si Ara, Abby (Maraño), tsaka si Jasmine na 'wag sukuan 'tong game na 'to." —JKC, GMA Integrated News

Nxled subdues Farm Fresh to clinch outright QF berth; PLDT sweeps Pool A

Nxled came out roaring from a previous sweep loss, carving out a 25-13, 25-16, 25-14 win over Farm Fresh to clinch a quarterfinals seat in the 205 PVL On Tour on Sunday at the USJ-R Coliseum in Cebu. The Chameleons, who came out flat against PLDT the other day, leaned on veterans EJ Cariño and Chiara Permentilla to end their group stage run at 4-1, enough to join the High Speed Hitters as the outright playoff cast from Pool A. Cariño poured in 19 points anchored on 16 attacks, two aces, and one block laced with three receptions as Nxled humbled Farm Fresh, which were coming off a three-game winning streak but now fell to a 3-2 card. Permentilla provided the lift with 10 points and seven digs while Jovelyn Fernandez chipped in eight markers. "Sobrang happy naman ako kasi 'yung pinaghirapan namin from last year nagbubunga na under coach. Eager talaga kaming manalo ngayon para makapagpahinga kami sa weekend," Laure said. "Palaban ['yung character namin] and ayon din 'yung sabi ni coach na kailangan naming manalo." In the other game, PLDT completed a group stage sweep after blanking Galeries with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-17 victory behind the troika of Kim Kianna Dy, Jovy Prado, and Mika Reyes, Opposite hitter Dy picked up where she left off from last game by scattering 12 points this time around while both Reyes and Prado chipped in 10 markers. The High Speed Hitters have completed a preliminary round sweep with an unscathed 5-0 win-loss card while the High Risers endured their fifth loss in as many games. —JKC, GMA Integrated News

Unbeaten PLDT sweeps Nxled to book PVL On Tour quarterfinals slot

PLDT surged to its fourth straight victory in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) ON Tour after making quick work of erstwhile unbeaten Nxled, 25-11, 25-17, 25-17, on Saturday at the USJ-R Coliseum in Cebu City. Kiesha Bedonia dazzled with a team-high 15 points anchored on 10 attacks, three blocks, and two aces along with five receptions while Majoy Baron churned out 13 markers as the High Speed Hitters improved to 4-0 in Pool A. More importantly, PLDT also clinched an outright spot in the quarterfinals as the Chameleons absorbed their first loss to go 3-1. "'Yun nga, 'yung challenge na makalaro 'yung Nxled kasi wala pang talo. Sabi ko naman sa kanila na iba't-iba 'yung makakatapat so happy kami na naka-perform lahat at nakaikot kami ng tao," PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort said. "Hopefully magtuloy-tuloy 'yung momentum." [Facing Nxled is a challenge because they hadn't lost yet. I told them we will play different kinds of teams so we're happy that everyone performed well and we were able to rotate players... Hopefully the momentum continues.] PLDT turned a slim 9-8 lead to a 14-9 cushion thanks to back-to-back kills from Bedonia. Another Bedonia hammer sent PLDT to a 17-11 advantage before Mika Reyes connected on a one-two play that saw the High Speed Hitters take a 23-16 lead. But the Chameleons, who have taken down Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho, and Galeries for a spotless start to the offseason showcase, responded with a 3-0 rampage on two consecutive double contact violations called on Kim Fajardo, 23-19. But Bedonia was unstoppable, bringing PLDT to the match point through a cross court attack before finishing it off with another open kill. Birthday girl Kim Kianna Dy and Mika Reyes chipped in nine points apiece while Jovy Prado chimed in with seven markers and five receptions. "Super happy. Syempre, one of my birthday wishes is the win today and I am very happy as well that I get to spend my birthday with the people I love, my teammates," Dy said. —JMB, GMA Integrated News

(Photo: PVL) Lyann De Guzman proved her impressive debut outing was no fluke, steering Nxled to yet another upset with a 25-20, 26-28, 27-25, 25-22 win against Choco Mucho in the PVL On Tour on Sunday in Batangas City. The star rookie poured in 24 points anchored on 20 attacks, three aces, and one block laced with nine digs and 12 receptions as the Chameleons went off to a hot 2-0 start. The Flying Titans, meanwhile, dropped to an even 1-1 card. "It was a collective effort from everyone, whoever is inside alam namin na maaasahan and everyone wanted to win," team captain Chiara Permentilla said in the post-game press conference. A rejection on De Guzman by veteran Choco Mucho spiker Honey Royse Tubino put the Flying Titans in the front seat as they took a slim 22-21 lead in the crucial fourth set. But Aduke Ogunsanya went short on her serve that promoted a 4-0 closing run by Nxled, who was coming off a stunning victory against the reigning All-Filipino Conference champion Petro Gazz yesterday. Another rookie in Mayang Nuique denied Isa Molde in the left side before Permentilla sent the Chameleons to the match point by unleashing a strong kill of her own, 24-22. De Guzman then unloaded an ace to cap off yet another stellar outing from her. Permentilla churned out 19 points on 15 attacks, three blocks, and one ace while Jovelyn Fernandez chipped in 14 markers. —JKC, GMA Integrated News
