Tokyo E-Prix 2025: Rain to dominate entire Tokyo double header, here's complete weather forecast for Formula E Round 8 and 9 races

Image credit: Formula E/X The excitement is building ahead of the next Formula E race as Japan gets ready to host the second season of the Tokyo E-Prix. But the weather forecast shows a 100 percent chance of rainfall on both Saturday and Sunday. This is enough to concern the Formula E drivers, as—despite the much-improved Gen3 Evo cars this year running on Hankook tyres—racing in rain comes with hard-to-overcome challenges and risks. However, the rain may skip the Round 9 race Sunday evening. Here's the complete weather forecast for the Tokyo Formula E race. Weather Forecast for Tokyo E-Prix Formula E Round 8, Friday - May 16 and Saturday – May 17 According to the weather in Tokyo is expected to remain pleasant at 21 degrees Celsius on Friday, though it will be a cloudy day. There are only slight chances of rain as the Formula E drivers take part in the First Free Practice session at 4 pm (local time) and 12:30 pm IST. The temperature will remain in the range of 18–20 degrees Celsius on Saturday. However, there is a 100 percent chance of rain throughout the day. Rain in the range of 2.6 mm to 3.3 mm is expected during the Second Free Practice at 8 am (local time) and the Qualifying race at 10:20 am (local time). The rain is expected to be much lighter, at 0.9 mm, during the main Round 8 race at 3:05 pm (local time), which will be broadcast in India at 11:35 am. Formula E Round 9, Sunday – May 18 The temperature will be in the range of 19–20 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the rain will continue to be as heavy as the day before. There is a 100 percent chance of around 3.8 mm of rain during the Third Free Practice at 8 am (local time) and the Round 9 Qualifying at 10:20 am. But the good news is that no rain is predicted for the main Round 9 race, which will start at 3:05 pm (local time) and 11:35 am IST. Formula E Drivers on racing in wet conditions Mitch Evans told that it was 'very, very tricky' to race in wet conditions with the Hankook tyres in the recent races. He said, 'In qualifying it was like, I was terrible. Nothing, you can't wake them [the tyres] up. In the race I was way more comfortable from the start, but the pace difference between me and some other guys was huge. So yeah, you can quickly be two, three seconds a lap slower.' So, it's more like surviving rather than racing in the wet. Obviously, street tracks are always challenging in the wet, and grip levels are low." Monaco E-Prix Round 7 Qualifying results: Oliver Rowland claims pole, eyes double win in double-header

Image credit: Formula E The Monaco E-Prix Round 7 Qualifying on Sunday started with a shower, but the winner of Round 6, Oliver Rowland , continued to dominate even in tough conditions. The Nissan driver won pole position in the rain-hit Qualifying in Monaco. Nyck De Vries will get the second spot on the grid for the main race in the evening. Monaco E-Prix Round 7 Qualifying highlights The third Free Practice session on Sunday had Mitch Evans on top, followed by Jake Dennis and Nyck De Vries. As the Monaco E-Prix Qualifying race for Group A started, Round 6 winner Oliver Rowland ended up spinning at Mirabeau, but thankfully he got the situation under control. Group B participants were slightly at an advantage as the rain-soaked track started to dry out and laps began getting faster. But NEOM McLaren driver Sam Bird ended up hitting the wall and exited from Qualifying. — FIAFormulaE (@FIAFormulaE) From Group A, Nyck De Vries, António Félix da Costa, Oliver Rowland, and Dan Ticktum progressed to the Duels. From Group B, Sébastien Buemi, Jean-Éric Vergne, Stoffel Vandoorne, and Maximilian Günther moved to the Duels. In Quarter-Final 1, Oliver Rowland surpassed António Félix da Costa to move to the semi-finals. In Quarter-Final 2, it was raining heavily but Nyck De Vries of Mahindra Racing took a daring lap to leave Dan Ticktum behind and move to the semi-finals. In Quarter-Final 3, Vergne hit a wall but still managed to beat Vandoorne and qualify for the semi-finals. In Quarter-Final 4, Günther moved to the semi-finals as Buemi's lap time was deleted for track limits. In Semi-Final 1, both Nyck De Vries and Rowland took the escape road, and after returning to the main track, it was Rowland who qualified for the final. Semi-Final 2 turned into a disaster for both the DS Penske drivers, Günther and Vergne, as they hit the chicane and had their lap times deleted. As a result, it was only Rowland who moved to the final and grabbed pole position for the main race. Formula E Drivers Norman Nato and Nyck De Vries compete in FIA World Endurance Championship: Here's how they qualified for 6 Hours of Imola

Formula E drivers Norman Nato and Nyck De Vries are currently in Italy for the second round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). They participated in the 6 Hours of Imola Qualifying on Saturday, moving a step closer to the main race. Nato finished 9th, while De Vries secured 5th place in the session. Nyck De Vries does well, Norman Nato lags behind in 6 Hours of Imola Qualifying race Norman Nato, who races for Nissan in the Formula E Championship, represents Cadillac Racing in collaboration with Hertz Team Jota in the Hypercar category of the Endurance Championship. Nyck De Vries, from Mahindra Racing's Formula E team, finished 5th in the Imola qualifying. He competes for Toyota Gazoo Racing in the WEC, alongside teammate Ryo Hirakawa, who placed 4th in qualifying. Calling it his best effort on track, De Vries told Toyota Europe Newsroom: 'As a team, I think we can be fairly satisfied with qualifying fourth and fifth here. We maximised our package, as you can see from the tiny gap between the two cars. I don't think we could have done much better than that; we did a strong job to execute a clean qualifying. The gap to the front cars looks quite big over one lap, but we will do our best with race pace, tyre management, and strategy to challenge for the podium.' Both drivers are now set to compete in the final race of the 6 Hours of Imola on Sunday, scheduled from 1 PM to 7 PM local time. How Norman Nato, Nyck De Vries fared in Miami E-Prix In their last Formula E outing at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, Nato faced heartbreak after losing what looked like a sure win due to post-race penalties. Although he clinched pole and crossed the line first at the Miami E-Prix, he was relegated to 6th place in the revised results. De Vries had qualified 5th in Miami but ultimately dropped to 11th in the final standings after penalties were applied. Following this, they'll shift focus to Round 6 of the Formula E World Championship—the highly anticipated Monaco double-header on May 3 and 4. With momentum building, fans of both electric and endurance racing will be keeping a close eye on their performances.
