Alanis Morissette Charts Her First No. 1 Album Decades Into Her Career

It's been 30 years since Alanis Morissette released what would go on to become one of the most successful albums of all time, Jagged Little Pill. The full-length turned her into a global superstar and helped inject the sounds of alternative rock and grunge into top 40 pop radio.
Decades later, the project is still regarded as a masterpiece, and this week, it storms the charts in the United Kingdom following the Canadian singer-songwriter's performance at Glastonbury, one of the most important and closely watched music festivals in the world.
Alanis Morissette Returns with her Classic
Jagged Little Pill appears on half a dozen charts in the U.K. this week, and 30 years into its lifespan, it even manages to lead one of them. Morissette conquers the Official Album Downloads chart with her breakout project, which soars from No. 40 to the top spot following her showstopping performance.
A Career First for Alanis Morissette
Jagged Little Pill reaches No. 1 on the Official Album Downloads tally for the first time this week. Perhaps even more impressively, Morissette collects her first leader on the list of the most-purchased full-lengths and EPs on download platforms like iTunes and Amazon in the U.K.
She had previously peaked at No. 4 with Such Pretty Forks in the Road. Flavors of Entanglement also brought her into the top 10, where it stalled at No. 7.
A Second Week Inside the Top 10
Jagged Little Pill earns just its second stay inside the highest tier on the Official Album Downloads chart as it surges. In February 2015, the project reentered the list at No. 6, which stood as its best showing until now.
Jagged Little Pill Reaches Several Charts
As it hits No. 1 on the Official Album Downloads chart, Jagged Little Pill also launches to impressive positions on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums tallies. On the former, it cracks the top 10, shooting more than 60 spaces. On the latter, the project lifts 70-plus spots, though it doesn't quite manage to enter the top 10.
At the same time, the Grammy-winning rock set arrives on the Official Albums Streaming ranking and reenters both the Official Vinyl Albums tally and the main list of the most consumed full-lengths and EPs in the U.K.
