BSP to discuss steps for OBC outreach today
Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party will hold a meeting of the newly constituted OBC Morcha of its state unit on Tuesday. The OBC Morcha was formed on March 25, when party national president Mayawati issued instructions to the cadre on how to reach out to OBCs in the state to bring them back to the party fold. In the upcoming meeting, UP state president Vishwanath Pal and other senior functionaries will review the action taken on the instructions of the party president. OBCs, along with Dalits, were once the vote base of the BSP. Many OBC leaders in the state, who now have their own political outfits, were once with the BSP, said sources in the party. To win over OBCs, BSP has started putting functionaries from the backward castes in key roles at the district, sector, and booth-level organisation. They have been instructed to reach out to OBCs in villages and towns and expose the anti-OBC agenda of the BJP, Congress, and Samajwadi Party. They will also highlight the steps taken by BSP govts in UP for the welfare of OBCs, such as constituting a separate department for the welfare of backward classes in the state in 1995 and creating two new districts, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Nagar and Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar, in 1997. Mayawati, in the March 25 meeting, asked the cadre to inform the OBCs about the welfare and development schemes initiated for them by the BSP, besides building of memorials, parks, and institutions to immortalise their icons. "Village-level meetings have started and OBCs, along with Dalits, have been made in-charge at every assembly segment to hold these programmes regularly," a party functionary said.

Petition Submitted to Ensure Smooth Implementation of PM Vishwakarma Yojana in Jogulamba Gadwal
Gadwal: Former district BJP president Ramachandra Reddy today submitted a formal petition to District Industrial General Manager Ramalingeshwar Goud, urging effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana in Jogulamba Gadwal district headquarters. The petition highlighted several challenges being faced by beneficiaries of the scheme in the district. Under the central government's Vishwakarma Yojana, various traditional artisans and craftsmen have registered online in Jogulamba Gadwal district. Some beneficiaries have even received training certificates. However, many are encountering severe difficulties in accessing financial assistance from banks, which is a crucial component of the scheme. In addition, complaints have emerged from several mandals where village secretaries are reportedly not assisting applicants properly, often stating that they have not received login access. This lack of administrative support is causing delays and confusion among applicants. Taking these issues into consideration, Ramachandra Reddy appealed to the District Industrial General Manager to ensure that the scheme is implemented smoothly and reaches all eligible beneficiaries without bureaucratic hurdles. The submission of the petition was accompanied by a group of prominent BJP leaders and supporters. Among those present were: Baligera Shiva Reddy, the BJP candidate who contested from Gadwal District OBC Morcha President Deva Das Senior BJP leaders Sanjeev Reddy and Dabbileti Narasimha Mandal presidents Gopal Krishna, Seshi, and Nagaraju, along with other local party activists and supporters. The group emphasized that if such grassroots-level issues are not resolved promptly, the very purpose of the Vishwakarma Yojana — which is aimed at empowering traditional artisans and boosting their livelihoods — would be defeated. Local leaders requested authorities to initiate coordination meetings with banks and village officials, provide technical support, and conduct awareness programs to facilitate the smooth implementation of the scheme. The BJP leaders concluded their representation with a call for immediate intervention from higher authorities, ensuring transparency and efficiency in delivering the benefits promised under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.

Minister Ponnam slams BJP over caste census remarks, demands withdrawal of Laxman's comments
BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has strongly criticised BJP's OBC Morcha national president K. Laxman's reported remarks on the caste census conducted by the Congress government in the State and demanded the immediate withdrawal of those comments. In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Prabhakar stated that the State government is ready to clarify any doubts regarding the caste census. He reminded Congress's history of providing reservations for Backward Classes (BCs), including in central educational institutions like IITs and IIMs. The Minister questioned whether BCs are not eligible for top positions in the BJP, pointing out the party's actions seem to favour a different social group. He highlighted the BJP's history of opposing caste censuses, citing examples from Maharashtra, Bihar and Jharkhand. Mr. Prabhakar urged the BJP to support the Telangana government's decision to increase BC reservations by 42% and prove their sincerity towards BCs. He demanded that State BJP leaders approve the law and do justice to BCs rather than undermining the government's efforts. Mr. Prabhakar also criticized the BJP's history of approaching the Supreme Court against caste censuses, labelling the party as 'feudalist' and 'upper-caste-centric'.
