Camp court disposes of 139 appeals under ODA Act

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards expediting urban development-related appeals, a special camp court held at Unnati Bhawan here on Saturday disposed of 139 cases under the Orissa Development Authorities (ODA) Act, 1982. The session, presided over by principal secretary of housing and urban development, Usha Padhee, addressed appeals related to the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). This initiative comes following directives from chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi. "The camp court represents our commitment to transparent and accountable administration," said Padhee. The hearing tackled cases from a backlog of over 700 pending appeals filed by citizens against various administrative orders in the real estate and related sectors. In a recent administrative reform, the govt has designated additional senior officers, including the director of municipal administration and special secretaries, as appellate authorities in the govt. The decentralised approach aims to streamline the appeal process and reduce pending cases. The housing and urban development department plans to continue the camp courts in phases to address remaining cases. The initiative has received positive response from the public, marking a significant step towards efficient urban governance.
