ONE Championship postpones Denver event until June 2026 after Stamp Fairtex withdrawal
ONE Championship postpones Denver event until June 2026 after Stamp Fairtex withdrawal ONE Championship's return to Denver has been put on ice. The promotion announced Friday that ONE 173, which had been scheduled for Aug. 1 at Ball Arena, will not take place and a return to Denver won't happen until June 2026 "after Stamp Fairtex vs. Denice Zamboanga and multiple other title bouts did not materialize." Fairtex's withdrawal was caused by her suffering a setback while rehabbing her surgically repaired knee. In addition to withdrawing from the fight, ONE announced that Fairtex has agreed to vacate her atomweight championship given her nearly two-year layoff since claiming the then-vacant title in September 2023. As a result, Zamboanga, who's held the interim title, has been promoted to undisputed champion at 115 pounds. "We are saddened to hear of the injury setback to Stamp and wish her nothing but the best in her road to recovery," ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong said in a statement. "After looking at multiple alternate headlining options that unfortunately did not come together, we have made the difficult decision to move our Denver event to June 26. When bringing the world's largest martial arts organization to the U.S., we strive to deliver the very best product to our passionate American fan base and put on the most entertaining and memorable show possible. "The U.S. remains a high-priority market for ONE and our global business, and we remain committed to maintaining a strong presence in the region with monthly ONE Fight Night events in U.S. primetime and future on-ground events.' ONE 173 would've been the promotion's third appearance in the U.S. Both ONE Fight Night 10 (May 2023) and ONE 168 (September 2024) took place in Colorado.

ONE Championship: Haggerty won't fight Rodtang at flyweight – ‘my turn now'
Jonathan Haggerty said a potential third meeting with Rodtang Jitmuangnon would only take place on his terms. Advertisement The two have met twice previously at flyweight Muay Thai and then kickboxing with the Thai fighter winning on both occasions – the second of which was in 2020. Rodtang's stunning first-round knockout victory over Japanese kickboxing icon Takeru Segawa at ONE 173 saw ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirm discussion on a third with Haggerty were under way. However, should that bout happen, the Englishman said it will not be at flyweight. 'I'm not going back down,' Haggerty told the Post. 'If Rodtang wants it, he's got to come up to bantamweight. And it's got to be in Muay Thai. I need to use my full skill set.' Haggerty is no longer competing at flyweight and is firmly entrenched in the bantamweight division, where he is the reigning ONE Kickboxing world champion.

ONE Championship: Liam Harrison ‘wants a war' with Soe Lin Oo when pair meet at ONE 173
Liam Harrison said he 'wants a war' with Soe Lin Oo, a fighter the Englishman described as 'one of the toughest men in the sport' ahead of their meeting at ONE 173 in August. Advertisement Harrison has built his career on delivering barnburners but, in Denver, will be facing a fighter with a reputation for being incredibly tough to put away. 'This guy is a savage,' Harrison told the Post. 'If you've seen his fights in Myanmar, you know what I mean. 'He's fought in Lethwei (Burmese bare-knuckle boxing with head butts allowed) and he's one of the toughest men in the sport. He's been in absolute wars and just walks forward, no matter what you hit him with. 'I know he's gonna come at me, and I love that. I want a war. I want to stand there, bite down on my gumshield, and trade bombs. That's what I live for. That's what the fans want to see.' But Harrison would not be satisfied with simply beating Soe, he wants to make a statement on August 1.

ONE 173 news: Stamp Fairtex set for title unification vs. Denice Zamboanga in Denver
ONE Championship's history-making women's atomweight champion , Stamp Fairtex, is set to face interim champ Denice Zamboanga for a title unification bout. The atomweight (115 pounds) championship fight takes place at ONE 173 on Friday, Aug. 1, at Ball Arena in Denver (presale tickets available here). ONE Championship officials communicated the news to MMA Junkie. Thailand's Stamp (11-2), the first three-sport champion in ONE history, has been sidelined since winning the vacant title by defeating Seo Hee Ham at ONE Fight Night 14 in September 2023. She was set for a pair of dates at ONE 167 and ONE 168 last year but could not compete at either event due to a torn meniscus. After a successful surgery and recovery, she is ready for action and eager to unify the title. 'I'm so happy to be going back to the U.S. again,' Stamp said in a press release. 'I was supposed to face Denice last year, but unfortunately, I got injured. Now, we finally get to fight for the belt. I was blown away by the support I received from all of my U.S. fans at ONE Fight Night 10, and I can't wait to put on a show for them again this August at ONE 173.' A rising star from the Philippines, Zamboanga (12-2) claimed the interim women's atomweight title by stopping Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27 in January. She enters the title unification bout on a four-fight winning streak stretching back to 2022. 'This upcoming fight against Stamp in the United States is a dream come true for me,' Zamboanga said. 'It's not just a personal milestone but a significant moment for the Philippines. Representing my country on such a grand stage fills me with immense pride. I am ready to give my all and bring honor to our nation.'
