Richard Ashcroft told Noel Gallagher he was the 'only person' who could open for Oasis

Richard Ashcroft told Noel Gallagher he was the "only person" who could open for Oasis on their reunion tour. Gallagher is reuniting with his estranged brother Liam and their bandmates to get the group back on the road this summer for series of sell-out stadium shows on the 'Oasis Live '25 Tour' and The Verve star Ashcroft will be supporting them on all of their UK and Ireland shows - and he's convinced he was the right choice because of his long history with Oasis. In an interview on 'The Chris Moyles Show' on Radio X, Ashcroft explained: "I see it as I've got a very important part to play in this. "You know, back in the day Oasis supported The Verve and then it flipped around and we supported Oasis at Earls Court, then I as a solo artist have played with Oasis. "I said to Noel: 'You know, I think I'm the only person who could go in this slot. Especially for a huge outdoor show, because everyone wants your lot. And unless you're coming with something, unless you've got something to offer, I don't know what's gonna happen'." Oasis previously opened for The Verve back in 1993 before the release of their 1994 debut album 'Definitely Maybe' and Ashcroft's band went on to support the brothers' group at The Bataclan venue in Paris, France in 1995. Ashcroft went on to perform with Oasis at gigs in Scotland in 1995 and he also sang on their track 'All Around The World' which featured on the 1997 record 'Be Here Now'. He added: "I think it's great that we're still around. I've been there almost in that whole story together with them. Right from the day one. "Before their album came out, first album [1994's 'Definitely Maybe'], seen that. They were kind of like mega successful before I was. They were on [TV show] 'Top Of The Pops'. By the time it was my turn, it was like they'd been all over it. "They sold millions of albums, blah, blah, blah, but the rarity of that, that you could have two bands, both in transits off playing to 300 people. "Both saying: 'We're gonna do this.' 'No, no we're gonna do that'. And for that to happen is incredible." Cast will also be opening for the band on the 'Oasis Live '25 Tour', which kicks off in Cardiff, Wales on July 4.

Liam Gallagher gives update from French bolthole as Oasis tour rehearsals begin

Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel Gallagher are furiously rehearsing for the upcoming Oasis Live '25 Tour which begins in the UK in July and will keep the boys on the road until late November Liam Gallagher has decamped to France to continue preparing for the upcoming Oasis tour. Fans were stunned last year when hell froze over and Liam, 52, buried the hatchet with older brother Noel Gallagher, 57, to announce they would be back as Oasis and touring in 2025. Fans now have just a few more weeks before the brothers are scheduled to kick off their Oasis Live '25 Tour which will begin in Cardiff on 4 July. The band has been rehearsing for weeks as the countdown to their 41 date tour continues. ‌ Liam has been relaxing in France on the Côte d'Azur - but has seemingly been keeping himself busy by brushing up his music skills as he prepares to take to the road. On Saturday, Liam took to Instagram to share snaps from his European retreat. ‌ He shared a selfie of himself wearing a pair of sunglasses alongside a caption stating: "Lols." While on his stories, he shared a snap of the outside of a house with his guitar propped up beside the door. He wrote alongside the romantic image: "Spiritual vibrations for the whole nation" and signed off with his initials. Liam and Noel famously fell out in 2009, bringing their band to an explosive end. However, they thrilled fans last summer when they announced they had reunited and would tour as Oasis once again. Earlier this month, details emerged of a new book about the brothers which proves they "still really love each other". In The Fall and Rise of Oasis by PJ Harrison, the author quotes an industry insider from Oasis music label Creation discussing the reunion tour and the Gallaghers patching up their differences. She said: "It doesn't matter what the wives or the girlfriends say or what anyone else says. You will never understand the dynamic of those two boys. Ultimately, you do still really love each other." ‌ The insider also says Liam was the one that made peace with Noel in order for the reunion tour to happen: "He's a great one for making, you know, peace. He's the one that will make the peace and bring things back together with people." Liam has previously said he made the first move. Asked on X, formerly twitter, who called first him or Noel, Liam replied: "I called him but don't tell anyone as I don't want folk thinking I'm a soft lad and stuffs keep it between me n you cheers x." ‌ Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this month that keyboard player Christian Madden had joined the lads to be a member of their live band. The first photos of the band leaving rehearsals in London were published on Saturday. It showed Noel, Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell who will play guitars in the massive sold out gigs, with Andy on bass. But the report wrongly identified another man at the studios and we can reveal his name now for the first time. Christian Madden has played with both Gallagher brothers making him an ideal addition for the tour. He has mainly played on Liam Gallagher solo tours but has also played alongside Noel in the past, sources close to the band said.
