Travis Hunter's Madden Rating Raises Rare Questions
Travis Hunter's Madden Rating Raises Rare Questions originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Two years ago, a Reddit poster on r/Madden asked, 'Why do people care about Madden ratings?' Another replied: 'Some people like seeing what EA thinks of their favorite player.' Advertisement Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter will debut in Madden 26 with an overall rating of 76 — out of a possible 99. Considering that Hunter won the 2024 NCAA Heisman Trophy and was selected second overall in the 2025 NFL draft, is 76 too low? Too high? Or just right? Travis Hunter at Jaguars practice.© Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Hunter himself didn't react much to it when asked about his 76 after the second day of Jaguars' minicamp on Wednesday. The highest possible overall rating in the iconic video game is 99. In Madden 25, players like Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Justin Jefferson, Travis Kelce, and Trent Williams all earned that score. Advertisement On one hand, Hunter's a rookie. On the other hand, he's featured in Madden 26 marketing videos, used to generate excitement for fans to play him in the game. He was ultimately rated a 99 in EA Sports' College Football 25. Of course, the NCAA is not the NFL. So … 76. Are we good? Not many fans have weighed in yet, as Madden 26 doesn't launch until August 14. In a June 5 article, Hunter rated himself at least an 85. Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson, a former NFL receiver and one of EA Sports' live ratings adjusters, was more like nah. 'The best I could do for you as a rookie coming into the league … I give you a 76,' Johnson told the Jaguars' top draft pick. Advertisement Hunter enters his first NFL season with the Jaguars as the league's first legitimate two-way star since Deion Sanders in the early-to-mid 1990s. Sanders happened to be Hunter's head coach and mentor in college, at Jackson State and then at Colorado. The Jacksonville coaching staff is more concerned with how the flesh-and-blood Travis Hunter plays, and so far, are giving him high ratings for his play on both sides of the ball. 'It takes a really sharp person to be able to do that,' Jags defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said. 'He's blessed with a lot of intelligence and maturity. It's impressive to watch.' 'I've been doing it my whole life,' Hunter said after Wednesday's minicamp, in which he only played offense. In 11-on-11 drills, Hunter caught a touchdown pass against cornerback Tyson Campbell. Advertisement In his senior year at Colorado, Hunter caught 96 passes for 1258 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown. On defense, he intercepted four passes, broke up 11 more, and made 26 tackles, 25 of them solo. '(Hunter) is a fun guy to coach, to be around,' Campanile added. 'His position coaches love coaching him.' Controversial NFL star Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson reveals he used to be a stripper in stunning confession
Controversial former NFL star Chad Johnson has claimed he used to work as a stripper to raise extra cash during his time at college. Johnson, who goes by the nickname 'Ochocinco', spent his first three years as a student at Santa Monica College in California before heading to Oregon State. And during an appearance on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, the ex-Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver made a bombshell revelation about his days in Santa Monica. 'I used to f***ing strip back in 97/98,' he told the former defensive end and co-host Beau Allen. 'I didn't have any money, so I thought what was the best way to make money back then as a college student during my off time? You f***ing strip.' Johnson, 47, claims he worked three hours each night at the club in question and would take home $2,500 after three shifts as a stripper. The six-time Pro Bowler also revealed he performed under the stage name 'Twix' to leave Long and Allen in stitches. 'I was like 150/160 [pounds] right,' he added. 'I had a little strength on me, so I was cut up, but I had veins everywhere. You know how you open a Twix and it's f***ing veiny? So my stage name was Twix.' 'I'm disgusted,' Long joked. Johnson has faced difficulties off the field over the years, including when he was arrested in 2012 on domestic violence charges after allegations made by his then-wife, Evelyn Lozada, before they divorced soon after. The Bengals hero served a week in jail in 2013 when, at the hearing where he pleaded no contest to claims he headbutted Lozado, he slapped his male attorney's buttocks. Back in February, alongside a broken heart emoji, Johnson revealed he had been dumped by his therapist when he wrote on X: 'Good morning, my therapist just terminated our remaining sessions & sent my deposit because I haven't improved & I'm still using derogatory language uncontrollably at times.' He has previously said that he doesn't drink because his later mother had struggles with alcohol. 'Growing up, my mom was an alcoholic and she would drink, extremely heavily,' he said last year. 'Seeing her become someone I didn't even recognize when she was consumed with alcohol was probably a reason why I stayed away from it when I was younger.' Johnson is still heavily involved in the NFL through media work after his career came to an end in 2012. He was at the Super Bowl in New Orleans back in February, where he even posed questions to Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles stars on opening night.

Shannon Sharpe says people are 'glad' he has problems in rare comment about $50m rape lawsuit
NFL great and podcaster Shannon Sharpe finally spoke to his YouTube audience about the $50 million sexual assault lawsuit he's facing in Nevada. 'Everybody knows what I'm going through,' the legendary Denver Broncos tight end told former Cincinnati Bengals star and Night Cap co-host, Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson. Sharpe has denied raping the woman, an ex-girlfriend identified in her filing as Jane Doe. Although he's continuing with both of his popular podcasts, the Pro Football Hall of Famer has stepped away from his part-time duties at ESPN. He has avoided discussing the controversial topic on his shows, but couldn't help himself while offering some words of encouragement to Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback and Deion Sanders' son, Shedeur. Asked about proving his doubters wrong after falling from a projected first-round pick to the fifth round of last month's NFL Draft, Shedeur told reporters at the Browns rookie minicamp last week that he's primarily focused on 'proving myself right.' Sharpe applauded that answer on Monday while speaking with Johnson on Night Cap. Then he veered into his own personal problems. 'Stop worrying about what people who don't know you think,' he said. 'Stop worrying about that… I just need the people that I love to love me.' Sharpe began speaking a bit slower as alluded to the rape allegations he's currently facing. 'Obviously, the elephant is not in the room, Sharpe continued. 'He outside. Everybody knows what I'm going through. Lot of people have a lot to say. But, as my brother [former Packers receiver Sterling Sharpe] been calling me, I met a lot of people, and thank y'all to everybody that's reached out and the thoughts and prayers - I sincerely appreciate that - but when you think about it, Ocho, man, 50 percent of the people don't care that you got problems. 'The other 50 percent glad that you got them.' Johnson responded by encouraging Sharpe to continue. 'Come on, Pastor, take your time,' Johnson said before gulping down a can of orange soda. Sharpe then veered back to the topic of Sheduer, who appeared appreciative for the opportunity he's getting in Cleveland despite last month's humiliating tumble down draft boards. 'Sometimes all you need is an opportunity and now what you do with that opportunity will tell us who and what you are,' Sharpe said. 'But the thing is that you have to learn that, I'm learning and it's still a learning process, is that you got to drown out the noise, man. You can't be concerned with everybody because everybody's going to have an opinion.' Sharpe's words then began to take on a personal tone. 'Everybody think they know you, they really do, everybody think they know you when they really don't,' he said. 'They heard this or they heard that. Have you ever talked to Shannon? Have you ever been around with Shannon?.. What what makes you think you know him? How well do you know him? So, Shedeur, just go do your thing. That's all he can do now. Now it's about playing, at some point the talking will stop.' In spite of his public humiliation at last month's NFL Draft, Sanders was all smiles while talking with media at last week's rookie minicamp in Berea, Ohio. His tumble to Day 3 of the draft effectively cost Shedeur millions over the life of his rookie contract, which he joked about on Saturday: 'I'm not trying to buy anything. My signing bonus ain't that high right now.' Going by the rookie salary scale, Shedeur will likely get a four-year deal worth around $4.6 million, which is a far cry from the tens of millions he would have earned as a first-round pick. Since that embarrassment, various reports have emerged accusing the younger Sanders of botching his pre-draft interviews with team reps, some of whom were said to be turned off by the former Buffaloes star's attitude. But rather than attacking his critics or even denying the anonymous reports, the 23-year-old struck a decidedly optimistic tone with reporters on Saturday: 'My job isn't to prove people wrong, it's to prove myself right.' The attorney representing Sharpe's ex-girlfriend in her $50 million has released audio of two conversations between the former couple, which his attorney has dismissed as 'misleading.' 'I'm not really interested in getting choked,' the woman is heard saying in one tape recording first published by TMZ. 'I may choke you in public,' a man's voice, believed to Sharpe's, is said heard saying. 'Big black guy chokes small white woman.' The woman responded after a brief pause: 'It's not a good look, Shannon.' 'Not a good look that you did what the s*** you did to me,' the man's voice fired back, although it's difficult to say what he was referring to. The tape is eerily similar to another call previously released by Buzbee's office to in which Sharpe is heard saying: 'I'm gonna f***ing choke the s*** out of you when I see you.' Sharpe's attorney has confirmed the authenticity of that recording, but claimed his client was speaking 'in the heat of the moment' and the violent threat was 'not intended.' Sharpe has denied the allegations and accused the plaintiff of being financially motivated, although his attorney has confirmed he previously offered at least $10 million to settle the case with his accuser. Davis named the accuser in an April statement that also included several sexually explicit text messages she allegedly sent to the three-time Super Bowl winner. Furthermore, Sharpe's lawyer released purported text messages between the accuser and his client, including one from early January in which she appears to accuse him of rape: 'no means no shannon.' In his own statement, her attorney Tony Buzbee claimed 'an incredibly damning video does indeed exist' and its contents will 'speak volumes about Mr. Sharpe and his behavior.' Both Davis and his client have since demanded Buzbee release an unedited version of the footage, which they suggest will be deceptively changed to incriminate Sharpe. 'Do not touch, do not tamper, do not alter that tape that we believe, without any doubt, was substantially edited, so that when it's posted, as we expect it to be, we will immediately explain how edited and warped and distorted and out of context it is,' Davis said. 'We will get a copy of that tape, and then we will see whether it's been tampered with.' Buzbee has already denied altering the footage. 'The statement from Sharpe's newest lawyer falsely accuses Ms. Jane Doe of editing a video — a claim that is not only demonstrably false, but also desperate,' Buzbee wrote. 'The lawyer also suggests Ms. Doe refused to make the video available to Mr. Sharpe. Again, this assertion is easily proven untrue. 'Here's what is true,' Buzbee continued. 'Although Jane Doe never referenced any video or multiple audios that she possesses in the lawsuit that she filed, now that Mr. Sharpe's lawyer has decided to broach that subject, we will address it.'

Ochocinco issues Deebo ominous warning after 49ers trade request
Ochocinco issues Deebo ominous warning after 49ers trade request originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Retired NFL star Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson issued a warning to fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel after the six-year 49ers veteran requested a trade out of San Francisco on Super Bowl Sunday. 'The grass isn't always greener on the other side,' Johnson told 'Night Cap' co-host and fellow NFL great Shannon Sharpe. 'It's not always greener on the other side, and hopefully, he doesn't find that out, but if he goes to the wrong place, he will.' Samuel has established a 'Swiss Army Knife' reputation for his success out wide, in the slot, in the backfield or on jet sweeps. The pair of NFL alumni discussed how Samuel's unique skill set might not be as soundly utilized elsewhere as it has been with the 49ers. Johnson, in particular, is worried Samuel might not find a better offensive mastermind to work with than San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan. 'It's cool. I understand it,' Johnson told Sharpe. 'I think about Deebo's skill set, I think about what Deebo brings to the table and how he's such a Swiss Army Knife and can do so many different things from an offensive perspective. 'I would love his creativity — I don't think there'd be any room for him — in Kansas City [Chiefs] … there's only one Andy Reid … there's only one Sean McVay. McVay's [Los Angeles Rams] offense would be good for Samuel.' Johnson also mentioned the Green Bay Packers as a possible terminus for Samuel. Samuel, 29, has posted 5,935 yards from scrimmage and 42 touchdowns over 81 career games. He was an AP All-Pro and NFL Pro Bowl selection in 2021. There is no telling or indication of where the trade requestee will end up. All Johnson wants Samuel to know is that the wideout might not find a better situation than his current one in the Bay.
