Members of kendu leaf body meet CM
Bhubaneswar: Officials and members of the Odisha State Kendu Leaf Organisation met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubaneswar on Saturday to express gratitude for the state govt's allocation of over Rs 100 crore from the chief minister's welfare fund.
The fund aims to support the livelihoods of Kendu leaf pluckers, binders, and seasonal staff across the state through various development and welfare initiatives.
Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit was also in attendance. In his discussions with association members from the 22 districts, the CM reiterated the state govt's commitment to the development and welfare of Kendu leaf workers.
The Kendu leaf industry is a crucial source of livelihood for over 9 lakh people in Odisha.
