Love Island slapped with another 432 Ofcom complaints over 'offensive language and rigged editing' - with calls for one star to be AXED from villa

Love Island has been slapped with another 432 Ofcom complaints over 'offensive language and rigged editing'. The ITV reality show kicked off for its 12th season last month and has seen plenty of drama. Over the last week, things have heated up further and the show has seen a wave of complaints from viewers to the broadcasting watchdog. July 9's episode received 82 complaints, while July 11's saw 266, and July 13 was hit with 84. According to The Sun, some watchers were not best pleased with Helena Ford's past social media posts on X and how she is still on the show. The publication claims she used 'offensive language' in them, some about foreign people. A source linked to the reality star told The Sun: 'These tweets are not reflective of the language Helena would use as a 30 year old woman and she would acknowledge she has done a lot of growing up since what she very naively posted over eight years ago.' While other fans expressed how they felt footage of Shakira Khan had been 'edited' to make her appear 'mean'. Clips have reportedly been cut from the show including when Meg Moore and Helena said Shakira was 'grafting' everyone. Some fans were also not impressed with the footage from Movie Night where Shakira was shown talking negatively about Helena and Meg. They claimed important context behind her reaction wasn't shown. One watcher penned on X: 'No, I am actually fuming with production trying to paint Shakira and Toni as the means girls when we all know who the really mean girls are #LoveIslandUK #LoveIsland.' According to The Sun, another wrote: 'Love Island is going to make out the mean girls are Shakira and Toni when it's been Meg and Helena.' While someone else added: 'It's giving rigged if they don't show what Meg, Helena and Harry have actually been like and what they've been saying!' There have also reportedly been allegations of bullying between Islanders, though they have not been named. MailOnline has approached ITV for comment. It comes as even more drama kicks off in the villa, with Wednesday's episode seeing Cacherel 'Cach' Mercer break down in tear following the chaotic recoupling which saw Toni recouple with Harrison. Toni surprised the villa on Monday night when she picked to recouple with Harrison instead of Cach, despite telling him she was done with him. Cach entered as a Casa Amor bombshell and swept Toni off her feet, while she was on and off with Harrison. The shock turn of events left Cach in tears as he took a moment on the terrace to cry on Ty's shoulder - which left fans in tears. 'I can't believe I'm crying. I haven't cried in years,' Cach told Ty. Ty told him: 'This is real though, it's you. It's better to let stuff like this out than bottle it up. It doesn't make you any less of a man, in fact more of a man.' Love Island fans were left in tears as they took to X to share their heartbreak and urged to 'protect him at all costs'. Some comments read: 'Cach is breaking my heart', 'Protect Cache at all costs my heart is breaking for him.'

Love Island slammed with over 400 Ofcom complaints in a week as fans hit out at Helena and Movie Night

LOVE Island has been hit with 432 Ofcom complaints after its most explosive week yet. There were three main issues irking viewers last week, sparking a barrage of complaints to the broadcasting watchdog. 3 3 Some took issue with Helena Ford's presence on the show after historic tweets emerged in which she used offensive language. Among them were derogatory posts about foreigners, which The Sun is not repeating. A source close to Helena told us: "These tweets are not reflective of the language Helena would use as a 30 year old woman and she would acknowledge she has done a lot of growing up since what she very naively posted over eight years ago." Other viewers were unhappy with the way Shakira Khan was portrayed during Movie Night. In a clip played to the villa, Shakira could be seen repeatedly bashing villa rivals Meg Moore and Helena. It certainly portrayed her in a very negative light, but missing from the edit was the context behind her outbursts as well as things that had been said about her. One viewer wrote on X: "Love Island is going to make out the mean girls are Shakira and Toni when it's been Meg and Helena." They added: "It's giving rigged if they don't show what Meg, Helena and Harry have actually been like and what they've been saying!" Others felt Shakira had been given a "mean girl" edit and clips, such as when Meg and Helena claimed she was grafting everyone and probably even fancied the villa plants, missed the cut. In addition, there were also various accusations of bullying regarding different unnamed Islanders. Watch the moment 'mean girl' Meg shoots a look after Love Island rival gets backing from the public vote The tense dynamic in the house has certainly led to some difficult moments in recent days with numerous couple swaps and factions forming because of them. There are likely to be more complaints next week too after villa lothario Harrison's shocking antics ahead of the latest recoupling. Despite having sex with partner Lauren twice in recent days, he pulled ex Toni for a secret chat on the terrace last night ahead of the recoupling. He told her that he still had feelings for her and made a desperate plea for her to pick him. She duly did, leaving viewers and Islanders stunned, while shocked Lauren broke down in tears. 3 Love Island's biggest Ofcom complaints Love Island has been hit with thousands of complaints over the years - here are the most moaned about moments Dani's tears: in 2018, Ofcom received 2,644 complaints when Dani Dyer was left in floods of tears over Jack Fincham during the Casa Amor. Viewers felt the show had been manipulated to make it appear Jack was going to cheat, when in fact he wasn't. And poor Dani didn't learn the truth for days. Maura fury: Although she later won over the public, Maura Higgins got off to a bad start in 2019. After arriving as a bombshell, she made a beeline for Tommy Fury - who was coupled up with Molly-Mae Hague - and tried to kiss him while straddling him on a daybed. 709 people accused her actions as 'sexual harassment'. Faye explodes: The 2021 series of Love Island remains the most complained series about yet. 4,330 complaints were made to Ofcom after Faye Winter received a postcard from Casa Amor, which appeared to show her fella Teddy Soares kissing a bombshell. But a whopping 24,763 complaints flooded in when Faye came face-to-face with Teddy again. Faye's shocking outburst even sparked a reaction from male domestic abuse charity, ManKind Inititive, who branded her 'unacceptable'. Bish bash: The following year, the fallout from Movie Night sparked 3,617 Ofcom complaints. Fans of the show were horrified by Luca Bish's harsh reaction when Gemma Owen was shown speaking to bombshell Billy Brown. Muggy Mitch: Almost 1,000 Ofcom complaints flooded in last year in the final week of Love Island. Viewers were unimpressed with Mitchel Taylor's treatment of Abi Moores and felt he was 'targeting' her. Fans even urged Love Island bosses to check on Abi's 'mental health and welfare'.

Good Morning Britain slapped with 318 Ofcom complaints over detail in Israeli war report

Good Morning Britain has been slapped with 318 Ofcom complaints after viewers took issue with an ITV war report. The complaints came after a map was broadcast on June 19 during coverage of the Israel conflict that depicted the Golan Heights as part of Israel. The Golan Heights is a rocky plateau located between Syria, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon, and is widely seen as part of southwest Syria. In 1967, Israel's military occupied roughly two-thirds of the region during its so-called Six-Day War with several Arab States, including Syria. In 1981, Israel went on to effectively annex this part of the Golan Heights and last year seized the whole region after the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The UK Government recognises the Golan Heights as occupied territory. GMB was flooded with complaints after the map showing the territory as part of Israel was flashed on screen during a live report from Tel Aviv by Richard Gaisford. Another ITV reporter was forced to provide a clarification for the use of the map on air Some viewers noticed the map and took to social media to share their thoughts. One penned on X: 'The Golan Heights is part of Syria, but #GMB continues to show it as part of Israel.' Another added: 'Disgusting 'reporting' and total misinterpretation of Golan Heights.' The next day, reporter Sean Fletcher gave a 'clarification' of the map. He said: 'Yesterday we showed a graphic map which included the Golan Heights as part of Israel. 'The UK government views the Golan Heights as occupied territory and does not recognise Israel's annexation of the land, and we are happy to clarify that.' It comes after Good Morning Britain viewers shared a lot of complaints as Martin Lewis replaced Richard Madeley this week. Typically, the ITV news programme features Susanna Reid and Richard as presenters, but on Wednesday's instalment, the consumer guru stepped up to host. Susanna and Martin worked their way through the day's top stories but some watchers weren't best pleased about the shake-up. Many took to social media to share their thoughts on Martin co-hosting the show and one penned on X: 'Ruins my morning having to listen to Martin - time for Eamonn I think.' 'Martin Lewis with his shouty "do this" "do that" and jumping over furniture so early in the morning may just be too much for me,' another added. Someone else said: 'I just don't have the head for Martin Lewis at this time of the morning.' Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 from 6am and is available to stream on ITVX.

Good Morning Britain slapped with 318 Ofcom complaints after 'disgusting' blunder during ITV war report

Good Morning Britain has been slapped with 318 Ofcom complaints after a blunder during an ITV war report. The complaints come after an incorrect map was broadcast on June 19 during coverage of the Israel conflict. A map displayed on the show depicted the Golan Heights to be part of Israel. However, the basaltic plateau is actually located in southwest Syria, along the border of Israel, Jordan and Lebanon. According to the Mirror, presenter Ranvir Singh introduced Richard Gaisford who was reporting live from Tel Aviv when the inaccurate map appeared on screen. The UK Government recognises the Golan Heights as occupied territory. Some viewers noticed the map and took to social media to share their thoughts. One penned on X: 'The Golan Heights is part of Syria, but #GMB continues to show it as part of Israel.' Another added: 'Disgusting 'reporting' from and total misinterpretation of Golan Heights.' The next day, according to the Mirror, reporter Sean Fletcher clarified the mistake. He said: 'Yesterday we showed a graphic map which included the Golan Heights as part of Israel. Britain's Got Talent final sparks MORE Ofcom complaints as Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon's 'revealing' dresses deemed 'too much for family viewing'

The final of Britain's Got Talent sparked MORE Ofcom complaints after Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon's opted for 'revealing' dresses to close out the series. Viewers watched the remaining acts battle it out for the top spot and saw magician Harry Moulding win a chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance and £250,000 last Saturday night (31 May 2025). However what got people really talking where judges Amanda, 54, and 46-year-old Alesha's outfits. According to The Mirror, telly regulator Ofcom received 72 complaints over their ensembles. The publication was told that they were deemed 'too revealing for a family show'. Amanda looked incredible in a white floor length gown with a plunging neckline. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The star scraped her hair back out of her face and opted for a smoky eye. Meanwhile Alesha rocked a sheer glittery shirt dress with a black bra and matching underwear. It comes after Amanda defiantly hit back at Ofcom complaints over her daring outfits on Britain's Got Talent. The judge often steals the limelight on the long-running ITV show with her very glamorous outfits. She is known for sporting some bold ensembles while taking to the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli. Her looks have raised eyebrows and have sparked more than 1,000 Ofcom complaints over the years, but Amanda has now firmly brushed off the criticism. Amanda said she works closely with her stylist on creating each look and insisted she loves every single outfit she has worn on the show since its launch in 2007. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She told Closer magazine: 'What you see on TV, I really love. 'I'm always asked about the Ofcom complaints, but every outfit on the show is checked before I leave my dressing room, so I'm never worried. 'I think people should have fun with fashion!' It is not the first time Amanda has defended her fashion choices on the talent competition after coming under fire from some viewers. In 2022, she said: 'Fashion is about taking risks. I encourage everyone to have a little fun and be a little daring. I'd be bored playing it safe.' She added that her co-star Alesha Dixon, 46, never cops criticism for her racy outfits, describing the level of complaints as 'bizarre'. The TV star's bold fashion choices on Britain's Got Talent are often a talking point among fans of the series, with Amanda repeatedly forced to hit back at criticism. In one very famous moment, a daring Julien Macdonald gown she wore during the semi-final of BGT in 2017 attracted a staggering 663 Ofcom complaints. The plunging floor-length dress plunged down to the navel, with a cut-out panel that reached the small of her back - but it came under fire when furious viewers deemed it 'inappropriate'. Despite the £11,000 ensemble causing hundreds of viewers to complain to Ofcom, the media regulator decided not to investigate. Ofcom said that while it recognised the dress 'had potential to offend some viewers during what is a family show' - the outfit 'would not have exceeded most viewers' expectations'. In 2019, another of Amanda's dresses on the show sparked nine Ofcom complaints. The judge wore for a sheer dress with spiderweb detailing over the chest, but it was branded 'inappropriate' by viewers, with nine viewers complaining about the look. However, Amanda appeared to see the funny side as she took to Instagram to share a joke about a water bottle sitting on the judges panel acting as a 'nipple cover'. The following night, she sparked more Ofcom complaints as she strutted her stuff in a gown by Lebanese designer Saiid Kobeisy. In another controversy, the regulator said the dress received 34 complaints relating to her dress. During an October 2020 episode, Amanda once again wowed as she wore a plum Suzanne Neville dress with a lace corset top that flashed plenty of leg In 2020, after wearing a navy Celia Kritharioti off-the-shoulder dress with a V-neckline - another 235 Ofcom complaints were made She has continued to show off her bold looks on the 2025 series of Britain's Got Talent and has provided she won't let the backlash change her style During an October 2020 episode, Amanda once again wowed in a plum Suzanne Neville dress with a lace corset top that showed off her toned legs. Of the 896 reported complaints made to Ofcom about the episode, 136 of these were about her dress, with Amanda sharing her 'baffled' reaction to the outrage. 'Just to say this dress got a tiny 136 complaints out of the 896 we apparently got that night,' she said on Instagram at the time. 'Surely there are more terrible and important things to write you agree? I'm baffled why it's still going on.' In 2020, after wearing a navy Celia Kritharioti off-the-shoulder dress with a V-neckline - more Ofcom complaints were made. Amanda was hit by 235 complaints but firmly hit back at the criticism in another impassioned Instagram post. She has continued to show off her bold fashion-forward looks on the 2025 series of Britain's Got Talent and has provided she won't let the backlash change her style.
