The government regulator is urging customers to return the product due to safety concerns HIGH ALERT Popular kitchen gadget sold at Wilko and The Range urgently recalled over fears it could MELT catch fire Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A POPULAR air fryer has been recalled after the UK's product safety watchdog warned it could melt, warp, or catch fire. The Haden air fryer, available at Wilko and The Range, has been pulled from the shelves after the Office for Product Safety and Standards said it doesn't meet safety requirements as it poses 'serious fire risk'. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Wilko and The Range air fryer has been pulled from shelves over fire worries Credit: Wilko The watchdog warned that the appliance's temperature could rise above safe levels, leading to the warping and melting of its plastic and metal parts. 'Consumers are advised to stop using the product and return it to any The Range or Wilko store for a full refund,' the regulator said on Friday. The two tray fryer 'presents a serious risk of fire' as the heating element exceeds the market limit of 150 degrees, it said. In a joint statement first published in February, Wilko and The Range said they 'have taken the precautionary measure' of recalling the Haden 11L Stackable Air Fryer 'as some units have suffered melting of the outer plastic casing when used under prolonged high heat settings'. 'Touching the hot plastic could result in burn injuries and it is a potential fire hazard,' they warned. The two companies are advising customers who have purchased the widely used fryer to 'stop using the product immediately' and return it to any Range or Wilko store for a full refund or store credit. The Sun has reached out to the two companies for further comment.

Urgent product recall over TikTok shop item with ‘serious risk'
Urgent product recall over TikTok shop item with 'serious risk' The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a recall notice for the Chinese-made product that has been sold via the viral social video platform TikTok users have been warned about one product they may have purchased via the app (Image: Getty Images ) TikTok shop customers are being urged to avoid using one product that carries a "serious risk" to health and safety. A Government department has issued a recall notice for the item, which has been sold via the viral social video platform. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) says it does not adhere to safety regulations. The Chinese-made product is a lithium-ion (or Li-ion) charger designed for use with electrical appliances such as laptops and smartphones. The black charger comes with a black plug and power supply cord but the OPSS says it is unsafe "due to poor internal construction". As such, it presents a risk of electric shock to its users. Anyone who has bought the product should contact the distributor immediately. An OPSS spokesperson said: "The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the pins are not the correct length and cannot be safely plugged into the socket. If the user touches the exposed pins, they could receive an electric shock. "Improvements are also required to marking, labelling and documentation. The product does not meet the requirements of the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. Article continues below The product has now been removed from the TikTok marketplace (Image: undefined via Getty Images ) "The products have been recalled from end users. Owners of the product are advised to contact the distributor they purchased from to request redress. "The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (TikTok)." The product details are as follows: How to report unsafe products The Li-on charger being recalled by the Government (Image: OPSS ) If you believe a product is unsafe and poses a risk, it's crucial to report your concerns. In England and Wales, the OPSS recommends that you contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline. If you're in Scotland, get in touch with the Advice Direct Scotland consumer helpline. For those in Northern Ireland, your local district council should be your point of contact. The OPSS advice reads: "Your complaint may be referred to the relevant local Trading Standards Service or Environmental Health Service in Northern Ireland. Your information will help decide if they need to take any action. "You may be entitled to a refund, a replacement, or a repair if there is a safety issue with a product you own. Article continues below "If an unsafe product results in injury to you or your family, or damage to your property, you may be able to claim compensation, depending on the circumstances."
