MUTA, AUT members demand career advancement scheme arrears
Seeking the immediate release of four years of career advancement scheme (CAS) arrears and the complete implementation of Government Order 5 pertaining to CAS, college teachers on Monday staged a wait-in protest at the Office of Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education at Pettai here.
The protestors said the GO 5 with regard to the career advancement scheme should be implemented fully in government and government-aided arts and science colleges.
They warned that their agitation would intensify if the Tamil Nadu Government still chose to ignore their genuine demand.
Members of MUTA (Madurai Kamaraj, Manonmaniam Sundaranar, Mother Teresa and Alagappa University Teachers' Association) and AUT (Association of University Teachers) from Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari districts participated in the agitation in which college teachers participated.
