Oasis Charts A New No. 1 Hit Ahead Of The Band's Reunion Tour

Oasis sends 'Some Might Say' to No. 1 on multiple U.K. charts for the first time after re-releasing ... More the tune on vinyl to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary. (Photo by) Oasis enjoyed one of the longest reigns ever as one of the most commercially successful bands in the United Kingdom. In the decades since the band broke up, the group's music has continued to stream and sell incredibly well. For a long time, there was no hope of a reunion, and brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher traded vicious barbs in the press. But countless prayers were answered in 2024, when the rock outfit announced a comeback. New music isn't expected, but Oasis is heading out on tour this summer ahead of what will surely be one of the highest-grossing and most exciting concert treks of the year. Shortly before beginning the trek, the band re-released one of its biggest hits, and it has now become a smash all over again. Oasis celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of "Some Might Say" by releasing the track on vinyl. Superfans of the group purchased copies of the pearl wax record in large enough numbers to make it a chart-topper on multiple lists in the U.K. "Some Might Say" appears on four charts in the U.K. this frame. It leads three of them and, interestingly, manages to reach the summit on three tallies in three different ways. The track debuts atop the Official Vinyl Singles chart. It rockets from No. 53 to No. 1 on the Official Physical Singles ranking. At the same time, it reenters the Official Singles Sales roster in first place. Oasis collects its third No. 1 on the Official Singles Sales chart with "Some Might Say." The band has previously topped that list, which factors in both digital and physical purchases, alongside "Supersonic" and "Whatever." The group earns a fourth champion on the Official Vinyl Singles chart, following "Stand by Me" as well as both "Supersonic" and "Whatever." The latter track dominated for three frames — the same length of time that "Stand by Me" managed. "Some Might Say" sold so well that it also returns to the Official Singles chart, which blends both purchases and streaming activity to show what U.K. music fans are listening to and consuming. On that ranking, where it originally opened at No. 1 back in 1995, it returns at No. 55 30 years later.

Geddy Lee Charts His First Solo Hit With A Quarter-Century-Old Song

Professionally, Geddy Lee is known almost exclusively as the lead vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist of the beloved Canadian rock outfit Rush. The band spent decades as one of the most respected and influential names in rock – especially in the northern nation – before officially disbanding 10 years ago. Since then, each member has continued to be recognized as a legend in their own right. This week, Lee adds a new win to his extremely limited solo career output, as he scores a hit song in the U.K. under his own name for the very first time. Lee's newly-charting tune 'Gone' opens inside the top 40 on a pair of U.K. rankings this frame. The cut appears at No. 30 on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles lists. The former roster focuses exclusively on tracks sold in physical formats — like CDs, cassettes, and vinyl — while the latter tallies only sales of individual tunes (and very short collections) on wax. The song also sneaks onto the more competitive Official Singles Sales chart, which takes into account both physical and digital purchases. There, it starts at No. 62, earning Lee a very special win. 'Gone' was one of dozens of singles released as part of Record Store Day in 2025. The tune was pressed as part of a black vinyl offering titled The Lost Demos, which features two previously unreleased tracks from Lee. Side A is 'Gone,' while side B houses another composition titled 'I Am…You Are.' Despite the fact that the record includes both songs, it appears the Official Charts Company is only crediting 'Gone' as the charting title. Since the collection isn't long enough to be counted as an EP, which would make it eligible for albums rankings, it's a single – and apparently the side A track is the focus. 'Gone' marks the first time Lee has landed a successful solo single in the U.K. Prior to this week, his only chart appearance without Rush came in 2000, when he released his one and only solo album, My Favourite Headache. That collection reached No. 15 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, where it spent just two frames before falling off. Of course, Lee's track record with Rush tells a very different story. The band achieved major success on both sides of the Atlantic and released several bestselling albums, which featured a number of hugely popular tunes, across a career that spanned more than 40 years. Lee's solo work has been far more limited in scope, but apparently, with just a handful of compositions to his credit, he's managed a solo run on the U.K. charts that has now continued for a quarter-century.

Niall Horan's Debut Single Is A Top 10 Hit Once More

Niall Horan may not be in the middle of an album rollout, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the charts. The former One Direction member hasn't shared a new full-length in nearly a year, but he still manages to stay relevant, engaging his fanbase and keeping his name on the weekly rankings with strategic releases and reissues. Many musicians disappear during downtime, but Horan is keeping his wins going, all without dropping new tunes. This week, Horan's strategy pays off once again, as the musician returns to a pair of charts in the United Kingdom with a track that's nearly a decade old — but somehow, still a hit in 2025. Horan's debut solo single "This Town" makes a somewhat surprising return to the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts in the U.K. The pop ballad, which helped kick off his own career years ago, is back in a huge way. "This Town" reappears on both lists this frame, settling at No. 8 on each of them. That's quite the placement for a tune that was released almost a decade ago. Earlier in 2025, Horan announced a repressing of "This Town" on seven-inch vinyl. Packaged as a double single alongside "Slow Hands," copies of the pair of tunes were restocked on his website. At the same time, he also made his The Show, Live on Tour deluxe vinyl available again after an earlier sellout. Apparently, that simple announcement — and the opportunity to own the single in a physical format once again — was more than enough to drive fans to buy. Thanks to those reissues, the track is experiencing a notable surge on the charts. This isn't the first week in which 'This Town' has performed well on either the Official Vinyl Singles or Physical Singles rankings. The tune has now spent just three weeks on the vinyl-only tally and four on the physical list. The cut has previously reached the top spot on both. Despite the fact that it was originally released nearly 10 years ago, the cut only debuted on these U.K. sales-based charts this February. That late arrival is due in part to its late-in-life vinyl pressing. When it hit, it became Horan's second No. 1 on the vinyl tally and, even more impressively, his first leader on the physical ranking after three earlier tracks peaked at No. 2. "This Town" was released in September 2016 as Horan's first solo single following One Direction's hiatus. It served as the lead track from his debut album Flicker, and quickly became a hit around the world. The emotional ballad reached No. 9 on the U.K. singles chart and climbed to No. 6 in Ireland, where Horan is originally from.
