KUCHING (Aug 13): Climate change, technological advancements, and global demand for cleaner alternatives are shaping the future of offshore technology, said Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
The Sarawak Deputy Energy and Environmental Sustainability Minister said today's energy landscape is undergoing rapid transformation.
'Our challenge and responsibility is to harness these forces to power progress while protecting our planet,' he said in his opening address at the Offshore Energy Asia Conference Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said this year's conference, themed 'Floating Production Solutions for the Future', focuses on smarter and more responsible approaches to expanding offshore energy capacity.
'It is no longer just about expanding capacity but about doing so intelligently, responsibly, and with a clear vision for the future.'
He said Asia, with its dynamic economies and growing populations, stands at a pivotal crossroads.
'We must act decisively to ensure that our offshore energy strategies support economic growth, while also aligning with global sustainability goals,' he added.
Dr Hazland, who serves as the conference patron, commended the event's organisers, partners, and participants for creating a platform that fosters collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and partnerships across borders.
'Let us use this conference not just as a platform to discuss, but to commit to innovation, safety, sustainability, and to collaboration beyond borders,' he said. Dr Hazland Abang Hipni energy Offshore Energy Asia Conference Malaysia
