Local WVU commit wins rifleman national title
GROVE CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – Grove City senior rifleman Jack Ogoreuc won the U18 National Championship in Smallbore at the USA Shooting National Junior Olympic Championships in Anniston, Alabama on Saturday. Ogoreuc also won a Silver Medal for U18 Smallbore at the USA Shooting National Championships a few days prior. The Grove City standout was also named to the Eley High School Air Rifle All-American Team. This program recognizes the best high school rifleman students throughout the country. Ogoreuc signed with Division I Riflery powerhouse West Virginia University in November 2024. The Grove City student already has Junior Olympic Gold Medals on his resume. His international performances have qualified him for the International Shooting Sport Federation Junior World Cup in May in Munich, Germany. Ogoreuc joins the Mountaineers, who are fresh off a 2025 NCAA Team Rifle National Championship in March. WVU is the winningest Rifle program in the country with 20 NCAA National Championships. Grove City rifleman takes home Gold for USA
ASUNCION, PARAGUAY, (WKBN) – Grove City Senior Jack Ogoreuc helped Team USA take home a Gold Medal in the Rifle portion of the Junior Championships of the Americas in Asuncion, Paraguay. The rifleman helped the U.S. win the 10m Air Rifle Men's Junior portion. He was aided by Tyler Wee and Grayson Muller. In the team portion, Ogoreuc posted a competition high of a score of 621.1. His performance qualified him for the Jr. Pan American Games in August. Ogoreuc earned fourth place in the Finals of the Individual 10m Air Rifle Men's Junior competition with a mark of 201.5 His individual performance has qualified him for the International Shooting Sport Federation Junior World Cup in May in Munich, Germany. The Grove City student also committed to the West Virginia University Rifle team in 2024. WVU is currently ranked second in the nation in the NCAA rankings.
