Former Notre Dame defensive end Ade Ogundeji retires from NFL
Former Notre Dame defensive end Ade Ogundeji has announced his retirement from the NFL.
The news comes just ahead of training camps opening for teams this week. Ogundeji was unable to land a contract for the 2025 season and had struggled to find playing time amid injuries.
A fifth-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 NFL Draft, Ogundeji played in all 16 games of his rookie season, when he recorded 33 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery. The following year, he had 42 tackles, two sacks and a blocked kick.
But he did not record a stat in 2023 and played in just three games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 before being released last October.
Ogundeji played for the Fighting Irish from 2016 to 2020 and was a team captain in his final season in South Bend. During his career at ND, he had 80 tackles and 13 sacks.
