Lola Amour is 'keeping it simple' in new musical era
Best believe that Lola Amour has got some bangers coming your way.
This year, the band released the singles 'Maria' with Oliver Cronin, 'Misbehave,' 'Dance with My Mistakes,' and 'The Moment' with Kokoro of Japanese group Psychic Fever from Exile Tribe, which are all part of their sophomore album 'Love on Loop' coming out on August 15.
Lola Amour is in a new era now, evident in the songs' new themes and sounds.
Saxophonist Jeff Abueg told GMA News Online in an interview that they are now "keeping it simple" and more digestible, not just for the band but also for the fans.
'There is definitely like a level of growth and maturity that the band has reached because of that goal,' Jeff said.
Jeff added that the band also worked with producers, which is something they've never done before.
'We tried it out, we loved it, and here we have 'Love on Loop,' like a full album of everything that we wanted,' he said.
Jeff further teased that 'Love on Loop' is like 'a story -- like, each individual has their own story, we put it together.' The band also describes it as their most personal album to date.
Vocalist Pio Dumayas added that the new album is more than just the topics of the songs.
'Nakikita mo dun sa music na nagiba talaga 'yung sound. It is a level of growth that we're trying to communicate. There's a level of experimentation and, I don't know, exploring, expanding horizons for ourselves as well na, 'ah, kaya rin pala namin gumawa ng kantang ganito,'' he said.
Pio also teased that Lola Amour is holding a show to celebrate the release of 'Love on Loop.'
Lola Amour released their self-titled debut album in April 2024, and celebrated with a grand album launch at the Circuit Makati Event Grounds, a sold-out show at Draft Punk in Cebu, and an album tour.
They are best known for the songs, 'Fallen,' 'Maybe Maybe,' 'Umiinit,' 'Namimiss Ko Na,' and of course, 'Raining in Manila.' —JCB, GMA Integrated News
