Jack White shocks fans revealing he's gone 50 years without owning a cell phone
Not only is Jack White reminiscent of the rock stars of yesteryear, he also lives like one too. The frontman of The White Stripes - whose daughter is a rising model - has revealed that he celebrated his 50th birthday on Wednesday by getting his first-ever cell phone. Jack's wife Olivia Jean, 35, gifted the musician the mobile device as he posted a gallery of snaps showing it off. He captioned the post to his 859K followers: 'Well y'all it's either all over for me now or just the beginning. I am now the reluctant owner of a cellular telephone for the first time in my life! 'A lovely 50th birthday present courtesy of my gorgeous and thoughtful wife Mrs. Olivia Jean (who took these photos as well.)' Jack went on to explain the issues he has recently ran into now that so much of modern life is reliant on a cell phone. He explained: 'I've been saying that my days were numbered for years, can't listen to my music in my car, can't park at a parking lot by myself because of QR codes, etc. etc. and I guess Olivia decided to be kind and put me (and all my loved ones) out of my misery! 'I thought if I could make it to 50 years old at least without ever having one that I could be proud of myself, and I am. Can't wait to talk to you all soon. My phone number is the square root of all of our combined social interaction times Pi.' Three years ago in April 2022, Jack stunned the audience at his concert last night at the Masonic Temple in his hometown of Detroit when he proposed to then girlfriend Olivia on stage and then married her a few minutes later. The White Stripes frontman brought the singer on stage to perform a duet of the band's 2001 hit Hotel Yorba, telling the sold-out crowd that she was his girlfriend and that he had a question for her. 'Yeah?' Olivia responded. 'Will you marry me?' the 12-time Grammy Award winner asked as he presented her with a ring. After she said 'Yes', Jack went to to sing the next line of the song which was, 'Let's get married!' The hitmaker then went backstage for a break and returned to tell the audience, 'It's been such a great day, mind if we get married right now?' The couple were then joined by Jack's mother Teresa Gillis and Olivia's father Brent Markel as well as members of The White Stripes and his friend Ben Flack who served as the officiant. Jack was previously married to British supermodel Karen Elson from 2005 to 2013 and his former bandmate Meg White from 1996 to 2000. He shares daughter Scarlet Teresa, 15, and son Henry Lee, 14, with Karen, 43. According to Rolling Stone, Jack met fellow Detroit native Olivia in 2009 after she sent him a demo of her recordings. He invited her to his Third Man Records studio and later introduced her to the musicians that she would eventually team up with to form the goth band The Black Belles. The band went on hiatus in 2012 and Olivia went on to pursue a solo career. The pair had kept their romantic relationship under wraps, though Olivia shared photos of the two on Instagram from time to time.

The White Stripes artist continued, "I've been saying that my days were numbered for years, can't listen to my music in my car, can't park at a parking lot by myself because of QR codes, etc. etc. and I guess Olivia decided to be kind and put me (and all my loved ones) out of my misery!" The "Seven Nation Army" singer and Jean got both engaged and married on stage during his performance at Detroit's Masonic Temple in April 2022. The couple also celebrated White's birthday by attending a Detroit Tigers game with his mom, Teresa Gillis, at Comerica Park on July 9 — and his friend, actor and musician John C. Reilly, surprised him by performing "Happy Birthday" on the field. In a video of the moment shared to the Detroit Tigers' social media, White appears stunned and slightly embarrassed by the surprise performance. "You might see Jack as a rock star, but he definitely focuses on family. I think that's really cool," Reilly told Tigers commentators Jason Benetti and Andy Dirks. "Something we both share, I think." Reilly previously starred in White's latest music video for "Archbishop Harold Holmes," released in June. Read the original article on People
