NDNA 2025: Olympics and Pingelly mid-season clash ends in high-scoring draw
Last Friday night in the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association it was a tightly contested A1 match between the newly promoted Olympics and bottom-placed Pingelly for their first meeting of 2025. With players missing from both line-ups, it was going to be a captivating game. The first quarter had Pingelly defender Caris Cunningham starting in goal attack, where she combined with seasoned goal shooter Gabbi Sturtridge. Down the other end, the dynamic shooting duo of Claire Conlan and Helen Wyatt for Olympics Gold were combining well, providing a headache for Pingelly's mother-daughter defence combination of Jodie and Shannon Marshall. Despite their new shooting combination, Pingelly scored strongly and took 16-14 lead at quarter-time. Olympics fought back hard in the second quarter, with the addition of late-in Milla Curtis taking the goal defence bib, and giving mid-court players Tenisha Harper, Lee Conlan, and Jo Annear good service coming down the court. Both sides competed well and by half-time Olympics had gone ahead by one goal. In the second half Olympics consolidated this lead with excellent shooting from Wyatt and Claire Conlan, outscoring Pingelly by three goals in the third quarter to lead 45-41 at three-quarter-time. Pingelly were not to be denied however, scoring six of the first seven goals of the quarter to regain the lead, thanks to Cunningham and Sturtridge making life difficult for Olympics' Curtis and goalkeeper Harley Heywood. The remainder of the quarter was a see-sawing affair, with neither side able to gain more than a one-goal advantage, with the final whistle blowing with scores level at 54-all. Umpire votes went to Sturtridge and Hodges from Pingelly, with Claire Conlan getting the nod from Olympics.

NDNA 2025: Olympics fight hard in first A1 game, Wagin remain undefeated after round five clash with Wickepin
Narrogin Districts Netball Association's A1 division continued to shape up as a stellar competition with round five taking place at the weekend. Williams 1 played Olympics Gold on Saturday afternoon, Olympics playing their first A1 game following their promotion from the lower A2 division. Olympics fought hard and displayed great depth throughout their team. Their shooters worked hard in the circle, with the new combination of Claire Conlan and Helen Wyatt. However, Williams were too strong, winning 59-31. Umpire votes were awarded to Jaime Medlen, Claire Hardie and Denver Henson from Williams, and Tanisha Harper and Helen Wyatt from Olympics. Undefeated Wagin 1 were up against Wickepin 1 on Friday night, with a few key players missing from both teams, and the excitement was building to see if Wickepin could be the first to defeat Wagin. Both teams were evenly matched in the first quarter, with combinations on court looking a little different to when they first played in round one. Wickepin's young guns Isabella Budby and Georgia Dawes combined beautifully in the goal circle. Wagin steadied in the second quarter, playing in their usual positions with sharp passing, tight defensive pressure and accurate shooting. Mid-court duo Fee Pocock and Gaige Kapene kept the ball moving with precise passing. Wickepin came back with a vengeance in the third quarter. Dakoda Bolton-Black playing up from A2 was a standout, working tirelessly and proving to be a handful for Wagin's shooters Lilly Worth and Regina Kickett, applying intense pressure and taking numerous intercepts. Despite Wickepin putting up a great contest, Wagin came away victorious defeating Wickepin 66-40. Umpire votes were awarded to Regina Kickett and Felice Pocock, from Wagin, and Dakoda Bolton Black and Sam Harvey, from Wickepin.

Official: Barcelona prodigy signs new contract until 2029
It has been only a little over a year since Pau Cubarsi made his first-team debut for FC Barcelona and the 18-year-old has become a permanent fixture in the backline for the Catalans. In light of his meteoric rise, Barcelona have now tied the La Masia graduate to a new contract until the summer of 2029, with the signing taking place earlier today. 'FC Barcelona and player Pau Cubarsi have reached an agreement to extend his contract, which will link him to the Club until June 30, 2029,' the club statement read. 'The Barça defender signed the contract extension this Thursday at noon in an event with FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta; first vice-president Rafa Yuste; and the club's sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco''. Defensant l'escut fins 2029 💙❤️ — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona_cat) February 13, 2025 Cubarsi had signed a new contract with the Blaugrana in 2024, penning a three-year deal until 2027 – the maximum allowed for a minor. However, there was an agreement between the club and the player at that time to sign a new and improved long-term deal once he turned 18 years old, which he did in January. Now, Cubarsi has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, following in the footsteps of Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, and Gerard Martin, all of whom inked their renewals in January. Just 18 years old, Cubarsi is not only a first-team regular for Barcelona but has also won the Olympics Gold with Spain.
