Axed Coronation Street star says he ‘disgraced' himself after soap exit

Former Coronation Street star Colson Smith has revealed he 'disgraced himself', having made an epic blunder while filming an upcoming episode of The Weakest Link. Craig, best known to soap fans as loveable police officer Craig Tinker, spilled the tea to his On The Sofa podcast co-hosts, Ben Price (Nick Tilsley) and Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), revealing the cock-up he made while taking part in BBC game show. He said: 'there was one question where I completely disgraced myself.' During the picture round of the game, host Romesh Ranganathan asked Colson: 'On your screen now, Colson, is a tennis player who is named after a planet. What is her name?' Despite 'knowing now' that the player in question was legendary Venus Williams, he answered 'Jupiter Williams' in a moment he predicts will 'go viral'. He did reveal, however, that despite the incident, he wasn't the first celebrity to be eliminated. His appearance on the show comes among other other new roles for Colson, along with appearing on Celebrity Mastermind and guest hosting This Morning. More Trending Colson departed Coronation Street this year after his character met a bloody and violent end. He was attacked while on duty by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who struck him over the head with a baseball bat. Craig was rushed to hospital, but as his condition deteriorated and CPR proved futile, he was pronounced dead, causing heartbreak for fans across the nation. Colson had previously announced his character's axing, saying at the time: 'Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd brands wedding guests 'idiots' for one question

Jack P Shepherd, known for his role as David Platt on the long-running ITV soap, recently tied the knot with his partner, Hanni Treweek, but revealed that he had a certain issue prior to the big day Jack P Shepherd has dubbed some of his recent wedding guests "f***ing idiots" for asking a specific question about the proceedings. In a new episode of the On The Sofa podcast with fellow Coronation Street stars Colson Smith and Ben Price (recorded prior to his marriage to Hanni Treweek), the David Platt actor opened up about his wedding preparations. ‌ On Saturday (July 26), the happy couple tied the knot at Manchester Cathedral, surrounded by loved ones. It included his podcast co-hosts, Colson and Ben, who would serve as his groomsmen on the day. ‌ Jack noted at the time of the recording that it was the "kick-b*****k scramble" week before the wedding, a time when they had to address the "nitty gritty bits", prompting Colson to ask if there had been any cancellations. ‌ He said: "I've had a few f***ing idiots saying things like - it's mainly family." Colson interjected, noting that he was, in fact, a "f***ing idiot", to which Jack replied: "Oh, was ya?" ‌ Jack continued: "Saying stuff like, 'Well, where do we get ready, because the wedding's at two, but we can't check in till three?' I said, 'At f***ing home, you idiot. I mean, where do you think you get ready if you can't get ready in the hotel?" Elaborating, he pointed out that people could arrive at the hotel and do what "normal people" do by dropping their bags off. Despite this, it appears that the wedding went off without a hitch. ‌ In what they described as "the wedding of our dreams", Jack arrived in a red Mustang and wore an off-white suit, sunglasses and bow-tie. Meanwhile, Hanni, donning a tiara, reportedly wore a skirt and off-the-shoulder top. Also in attendance were Jack's son, Reuben (whose outfit matched his dad's) and the actor's on-screen mum, Helen Worth, who was accompanied by her husband, Trevor Dawson. As they left the venue, the newlyweds could be seen beaming and exchanging a number of kisses as they headed to the wedding car, as white confetti cascaded over them. ‌ Jack and Hanni first met on the set of Corrie when she was working as a scriptwriter. Fast forward to over a year ago, and Jack popped the question while the couple enjoyed a safari in Tanzania. The soap actor first joined the long-running ITV show in April 2000 and has since become a much-loved fixture of the series. In advance of the big day, Jack took to Instagram to express his thanks to the wedding planners. He wrote: "The A team, @taylorlynncorp me and @hannitreweek are so grateful. everything has come together and it's looking like it's gonna be amazing! "We couldn't have done it without you guys. Best in the biz. Thank you thank you thank you."

Coronation Street' star Jack P Shepherd shares honest reaction to awards snub

Coronation Street legend Jack P Shepherd has opened up about his feelings after he missed out on a gong at the British Soap Awards as he admitted "it was a shock" Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd has expressed his "shock" at missing out on a British Soap Award last weekend (Saturday, May 31). The actor, who has played David Platt since he was just 12 years old in 2000, is a key part of the Platt family and recently celebrated his 25th anniversary on the show. ‌ Jack's character has had several near-death experiences on Corrie, including a terrifying incident in 2003 when Richard Hillman attempted to kill the Platt family by driving them into a canal. ‌ Despite these dramatic moments, Jack was nominated for Best Comedy Performance at this year's British Soap Awards, alongside Patsy Palmer (EastEnders), Nicola Wheeler (Emmerdale) and Nicole Barber-Lane (Hollyoaks). Having previously won Villain of the Year in 2008 and Best Actor in 2018, Jack was hoping to add a third award to his collection, reports Leicestershire Live. In response to his On The Sofa co-star, Colson Smith, Jack joked: "I've been trying for years to get a nod for comedy because I've never been nominated for it before." Reflecting on his disappointment at not winning, he admitted: "It was a shock. "If you watched it the other night, you will notice that my reaction is genuine. And I'm completely blown away that I didn't win." ‌ In an earlier episode of the show, Jack had admitted he would have been especially "devastated" if he had lost out on the award to Patsy Palmer. Despite the potential disappointment, the 37 year old emphasised that there was never any "hatred or rivalry" when watching stars from rival soaps take to the stage for their prizes. Corrie's Jack P. Shepherd certainly didn't hide his shock during the recent ceremony, as Coronation Street actors left with little to toast, compared to EastEnders which dominated the evening by sweeping up seven awards. Only David Neilson managed to snag a trophy for the Weatherfield regulars at the eventful night.

ITV Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd shares 'dangerous' blunder which halted filming

Jack P Shepherd, who has played David Platt for around two decades, admitted filming had to be halted at one point on the ITV soap over a near miss. Coronation Street actor Jack P Shepherd opened up on a blunder which happened on set. One co-star came a little too close to snipping off another's hair during filming. Jack, who clinched the Celebrity Big Brother title earlier this year, discussed the near-miss during a recent episode of his On The Sofa podcast. He pointed out he's became a master at the art of pretending to cut hair, with his Corrie character David Platt being a hairdresser for around two decades now. ‌ "David first started cutting hair at the age of 17 which would mean I've mean cutting hair for 20 years," he shared when discussing the ITV soap. ‌ He continued as reported by Digital Spy, "They're real scissors, because they're scissors from whichever makeup artist or supervisor is on that unit. So they just give me their scissors that are out of their bag. "Usually I go to the back of the person of whoever is there, I take a section and go all the way down the hair using two fingers with the hair in there, and I almost, almost hit the hair but I don't." Although the actor says he has never made a blunder himself, he disclosed that his co-star Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Windass, had filming halt when she came dangerously close to cutting actress Kate Ford's hair, who plays Tracey Barlow. "Samia nearly cut Kate Ford's fringe off," Jack said. "She got her full fringe in her fingers and she almost went down. Kate stopped the take and went, 'Samia, Samia, wait! What are you doing?!'" In other news on the Cobbles, Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon, famed for her role as Bethany Platt, has flaunted a gorgeous hair transformation. In an exciting update for fans, her future on the Cobbles has been confirmed. The actress has been taking a break from the ITV soap as she's currently on maternity leave. Lucy, 29, welcomed her second child back in January with footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson. In delightful news to fans, it has been confirmed she will be back, as she is returning to filming in the summer after maternity leave. She is set to make an appearance on screens again in October. ‌ Jack P Shepherd had the nation's soap lovers behind him earlier this year when he was crowned the winner of Celebrity Big Brother's 2025 series. He surpassed fellow finalists Chris Hughes, Chesney Hawkes, Donna Preston, JoJo Siwa and Danny Beard. "I can't believe it, I am blown away I didn't expect it," he said after his win. "I thought I was a shoo-in for maybe fifth. As people were disappearing I thought 'surely not'. "I just figured that I might annoy a few people and they might not quite know how to work me out and then after a while they changed opinions and, yeah, I guess I was liked by the end."

The soap star wasn't sure if he would get the role but he enjoyed the experience. "I did it and I've not heard anything back, so that's the way it goes. "But I think it was just nice to do my first tape and it was for a relatively big (production)," he said.
