And it can even lay almost totally flat to the floor with an operating height of just under 10cm. The vacuum cleaner ditches the giant bin normally featured on Dyson products for a new system that compacts the dust into the PencilVac's slender body. "I have long wanted to make a vacuum of only 38mm diameter," said Sir James Dyson, the company boss. He explained that the thickness is important – it's the same as the Dyson's Supersonic hair dryer handle. Dyson continued: "But first we needed to develop our most powerful Hyperdymium motor at only 28mm diameter to achieve such a slender machine." HAIR WE GO! It also uses a bizarre new Fluffycones system that uses four cones split across two brush bars. This system works to eject long hair as you clean, so you don't have to pull or cut it out. 'If long hairs get wrapped around the cone, the spinning motion along with the specific angle of the cone causes the hair to tighten,' said Dyson's Sam Cole, Floorcare Design Manager, speaking to The Sun. 'Which results in the hair travelling down to the smaller end of the cone, before it is released as a small hairball.' We tried Dyson's new OnTrac headphones There's also a new two-stage dust separation system, which Dyson engineers say will capture 99.99% of particles (down to 0.3 microns). That means cleaner air is pumped back into your home – and should mean suction stays strong. The dust inside is compressed in real-time to get as much usage possible out of the small bin, and should mean you have to empty it less often. According to gadget-maker Dyson, the bin holds five times more dust and debris than its 0.08-litre capacity. 8 The device can eject hair as you vacuum so it doesn't get caught up in the system Credit: Dyson This works using a syringe "bin ejection" system that "plunges" the dirt deep into the bin – while also wiping the shroud clean at the same time. MOTOR RUNNING It's all powered by a new motor that's Dyson's smallest to date – as well as its fastest, spinning at 140,000rpm. This, Dyson says, makes it 35% more "power dense" than its predecessor, despite the shrunken size. 'Engineering our smallest and fastest vacuum motor is no simple feat. It was more than miniaturising every piece of technology," said Dyson tech chief John Churchill. 8 You can easily clean hard-to-reach places with the slimmed-down design – and then dispense the contents of the bin in seconds Credit: Dyson "It is a precise integration of motor design, electronics, software, and hardware, all working together seamlessly." The Dyson PencilVac is the most stick-like stick vacuum ever

It's been almost ten years since Dyson first unveiled its Supersonic hair dryer, which put its signature bladeless fan technology into a styling product. For a company that was known primarily for its vacuums at the time, this was a surprising move. Since then, Dyson has released several beauty tools like its Airwrap curling iron that have spawned countless imitations. The company also expanded into other categories like audio with its OnTrac headphones and the controversial Zone headphones-with-built-in-purifying-mask while continuing to make some of our favorite cordless vacuums. Today, Dyson is going full circle by announcing the PencilVac, which it says is the "world's slimmest vacuum cleaner." The twist? It achieves that thinness by using a motor that's basically the same as the one in the Supersonic hair dryer. What makes the PencilVac different from existing vacuum cleaners is the fact that it's basically all shaft, with some attachment options for the head. That means there is no bulge unless you use the included conical brush bar cleaner head. All the parts that would normally take up space on a conventional vacuum (like a bin, filter and motor) all fit inside the long cylinder. At the very bottom, you can attach a variety of heads designed specifically for the PencilVac, including the main one that Dyson is calling a "Fluffycones" cleaner head. The company said it has four cones in two brush bars that rotate in opposite directions, and they were designed to "strip and eject even long hair, preventing hair tangling around the brush bar." The laser-like lights at both ends of this head also help illuminate where dust particles might be so you can better see what spots you missed. Altogether, the PencilVac weighs about 3.96 pounds (1.8kg) and is meant to be easy to use in all kinds of hard-to-reach areas. Since it's got the same roughly 1.5-inch (38mm) diameter throughout, you can grip it fairly easily along its body, wherever you choose to place your hands. This should make it easier to pick up for overhead cleaning. To get the entire PencilVac to look like, well, a pencil, Dyson had to redesign quite a lot of components. This includes the new Hyperdymium 140k motor, which the company says is its "smallest (at 28mm) and fastest vacuum motor. " There's also a new dust compressing system to "maximize the bin capacity." Speaking of, the bin fits inside the cylinder itself, and it has a transparent window that allows you to not only see how full it is but also watch as debris gets sucked up. In fact, at a recent demo, I watched with a mixture of satisfaction and sadness as bits of crushed up Lotus Biscoff cookies flew to the top of the bin. Despite its small size, the Hypderdymium 140k motor seemed plenty powerful in my brief time with it, as it sucked up Cheerios, cookies and other detritus with ease. I also found the entire device mostly easy to maneuver — it didn't feel too heavy and coasted over the bumpy food waste with ease. I was slightly confused by the locking system as I had to make sure to hold it precisely straight up (and wait for a click) after I was done to make sure the stick didn't just fall to the ground. Dyson also designed a new filtration system that the company said "effectively separates dust and debris from the airflow without causing filters to clog or cleaning performance to decline." It also made a new "two-stage linear dust separation system, which captures 99.99 percent of particles down to 0.3 microns so only cleaner air is expelled back into the home." More interestingly, the PencilVac has an "air-compressing bin design" that allows the bin to contain "five times more dust and debris than its 0.08L capacity." In the few rounds of cleaning that I witnessed, the PencilVac certainly appeared to be packing in the garbage quite tightly, though whether it can actually hold 0.4L of stuff is something I didn't get to measure. When it comes time to empty the container, you can use what Dyson calls its "new hygienic syringe bin ejection system" to empty it. I didn't try this out myself, but it basically involves removing the cleaner head, aiming the bottom of the PencilVac at your trash receptacle and sort of shucking the transparent housing up and down to get the debris out. I watched a Dyson engineer do this and the process seemed straightforward, though it did look like parts of the housing trapped some crumbs. The good news is, you can detach the shell and filters to more thoroughly clean them. The PencilVac also has a swappable battery pack that can last up to 60 minutes of suction, and you can charge the machine on its magnetic charging dock. This is also Dyson's first connected cordless vacuum, meaning it works with the MyDyson app so you can see battery levels, access more settings and get maintenance alerts (like when and how to clean the filter). There's also an LCD screen at the top of the handle that shows the selected power mode as well as remaining run time (while you're cleaning). You'll largely interact with the controls via the two physical buttons here, too. Dyson hasn't shared pricing details on the PencilVac, but there's plenty of time for the company to figure that out, since it's only going to be available in the US next year. That's 2026. Meanwhile, the device will retail in other regions.

Sennheiser HD 505's premium audio proposition is somewhat lighter on the wallet

There was a time when Sennheiser's sound signature was a comfortable place. Its traits were clear — versatile across music genres and steadfast resoluteness against 'v-shaped' tuning. Much still remains true, except Sennheiser no longer retains that exclusivity of sentiment (Bose had a say, but has since faded away), as the competitive landscape has sharpened significant over time. Sony 1000XM5 and Apple AirPods Max found a sweet spot with premium headphones, Sonos Ace is extending its legacy and Dyson's OnTrac have reworked conventional wisdom to good effect. The question for Sennheiser is, can the new HD 505 reclaim some of that lost sentimental territory? A few factors should work well in the HD 505's favour, as you further shorten the headphone shortlist. It is an interesting choice of materials which blends plastic, metal and a luxurious velour-like material into a lightweight design (around 237 grams; the AirPods Max tip the scales at 386.2 grams in comparison). It is an open-back design, which is just the ticket if a wider and more dynamic soundstage is what you prefer — the trade-off being this will be less adept at blocking out ambient din. The sound signature and tonality balance, with the specifics of design to keep in mind, is a reminder of the older times. Also Read:As buyers accept a premium for good audio, spotlight remains on headphones The 120-ohm angled transducers play their bit in delivering strikingly impressive sound across genres of music and a further varied usage including podcasts and TV shows. There's pristine clarity being delivered, irrespective of volume levels, and even lower quality audio files are processed rather well and don't betray than less than elaborate bitrate origins as you move along the playlist. Wired headphones have their advantages, and the latter, certainly finds its roots in Sennheiser's simpler approach to headphones. The Sennheiser HD 505 are far from the definitive headphones if you're looking for powerful bass or a general v-shaped (such a tuning environment boosts lower frequencies and subsequently over-compensates with vocals) equaliser out-of-the-bix. The focus here is natural sound, as far as possible, and delivering a sense of balanced realism. The underlying theme is that these headphones get more right with sound than less-than-perfect. That is also accentuated by the wider than usual soundstage, which gives the finer elements in a track their space to shine through. Details are nicely filtering through, and crisp higher frequencies remain comfortable without ever erring towards too much sharpness. An interesting thing to note here is, the transducers in use with the HD 505 have previously been seen in the HD 560S as well — but for use now, they have received tuning improvements for vocals (these transducers can go higher in the frequency response range) but there's a comparative reduction on the lower frequencies, with somewhat lesser extension (12Hz now, compared with 6Hz in the 560S). This seems to be a fine balance that Sennheiser has played with the hardware. Also Read:Bose's audio finesse gives Noise Master Buds a trump card like no other It is, before we draw conclusions, imperative to illustrate the competitive landscape the HD 505 (this costs ₹27,990) finds itself in. The closest, in terms of price, would be the Sony 1000XM5 (that's around ₹34,990), while the Dyson OnTrac (around ₹44,900), the Sonos Ace (around ₹39,999) and the Apple AirPods Max (you'll be parting with ₹59,900). It must remain in perspective that these are collectively pushing a case for noise-cancelling with music, which the HD 505's increasingly rarer open-back design doesn't allow for. Our comparison is purely on the aspect of sound, signature and how well the headphones have been put together. The Sennheiser HD 505 will appeal to a very specific demographic of buyers. For starters, you must cross out on the checklist, what you'd be able to do without. Noise cancellation and isolation, for starters. Throw in wireless connectivity for good measure. The HD 505 are focused, wired headphones with an open-back design. There aren't many headphones that now follow this choice. A wide, detailed sound signature is primarily delivered very well. The comfort even after hours of wearing this, is a bonus.

Police searched woman's truck over marijuana smell. What was inside impacts dozens across metro

Investigators say they pulled over a car that smelled of marijuana and then found dozens of stolen packages inside addressed to people all over metro Atlanta The driver of that car works for a delivery company. 'There were addresses in Lawrenceville, Decatur, Marietta, Kennesaw,' said David Buchanan with the Kennesaw Police Department, told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell. Police say they pulled LaShawn Crumble over on Shiloh Road because her brake lights were out. 'There was an odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle which initiated a search of the vehicle,' Buchanan said. 'It could be up towards 50 (packages),' Buchanan said. 'She told the officer that stopped her that the company allows them if they're lost, stolen, damaged packages to go in 'dumpster diving,' is what she said for those packages. Which speaking with OnTrac, they said that's not true at all. (It was) fantastic work by our night shift officers looking beyond the brake light violation.' Police say Crumble is a contract worker for OnTrac. Now, she is facing a number of criminal charges. 'The best thing people can do is just keep up to date with where your packages are, and when they should be arriving, and notifying the company and police, if necessary,' Buchanan said. Detectives have identified some victims, but they are still going through a very long list of names, contacting potential victims. Newell asked OnTrac if Crumble is still employed as a contract delivery driver, but so far, she hasn't heard back.,
