Miley Cyrus reveals she wrote new single ‘Easy Lover' for Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album

has revealed that her upcoming single 'Easy Lover' was originally intended for to sing. The star is due to release the song tomorrow as the final single ahead of her highly anticipated new album . Cyrus co-wrote the song with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who previously penned hits for Beyoncé like 'Halo', 'XO', and the singer's GRAMMY winning duet with Cyrus 'II Most Wanted'. Speaking to Zane Lowe promoting Something Beautiful, Cyrus explained that 'Easy Lover' came from the same sessions as 'II Most Wanted'. 'That one is funny because there's an ad-lib where I say 'Tell 'em B', and that was Beyoncé, because she was taking songs for her country album,' Cyrus admitted. The 'Flowers' singer explained that she first began working on the song whilst making music for her 2021 rock-influenced album Plastic Hearts, and then later adapted it match the sound of Cowboy Carter. 'I had written originally that song around Plastic Heart days and never got the production quite where I wanted it. I had written it with totally different verse but the chorus I had always loved,' she elaborated. 'That was around 2020-2021, and then I held on to it and when Beyoncé was looking for songs for her country record, I remembered that chorus and was like, 'That would work really well for country', and so I started working on that.' 'She chose 'Shotgun Rider', or what do you call it? 'II Most Wanted',' the performer revealed. 'The demo was called' Shotgun Rider'. She was like 'II Most Wanted – that's us'. I was like, 'That is so the perfect title'.' The 'Wrecking Ball' songstress, who is also releasing a film to accompany Something Beautiful which will screen in UK cinemas on 27 June, explained that Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard offered to perform on the track, thus becoming the 'B' Cyrus refers to on the ad-lib. 'I still had 'Easy Lover', and so I just was like 'What am I going to do about 'Tell em B'? And Brittany Howard's like 'I'll play the guitar on it', so that's her playing all that electric guitar,' Cyrus said. Howard also features on another track on the upcoming LP entitled 'Walk of Fame'. The pair previously performed together at the Saturday Night Live 50 celebration earlier this year. 'Easy Lover' and the album Something Beautiful are released next Friday, 30 May. Ryan Tedder on One Republic's enduring appeal, writing hits for the stars

Ryan Tedder's won three Grammy Awards and written hit songs for Adele, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift — among many others. But the One Republic vocalist doesn't know if he's currently got a massive hit single hidden away among a collection of thousands of songs written over the years that have never seen the light of day. "In an average week I do, I would say, about two songs a day in some form or fashion," he told Breakfast. "I have a Miley Cyrus song that comes out this Friday that's been on my hard-drive for three years. "It got reproduced, cleaned up, and changed. But it's just now coming out called Easy Lover. ADVERTISEMENT "The process for that took years." The prolific song-writer – behind Beyoncé's Halo and Adele's Rumour Has it – says people would be shocked to know how many times a hit record has come out of a random moment that jogs his memory. "I'll be in Thailand on vacation and hear a song in a tuk-tuk that reminds me of a song I did six years ago with Adele or whoever. "And I'll go [to my team] 'send me that song now!' And they'll go and find it, then I'll go: 'I'm gonna pitch that song right now!'" The 45-year-old was set to return to New Zealand with One Republic in February next year – and was still "amused and grateful" at the band's enduring appeal. "Our goal when we sat down and wrote our goals on a napkin in 2005 was to be able to play arenas in every city in the world, every major city that we can legally go to I want to be able to sell out the arena. "The fact that we are still able to pull off a hit song every now and again… I'm absolutely grateful for it."

Ben&Ben's drummer diagnosed with 'Drummer's Wrist'; band reschedules shows

Ben&Ben's drummer, Jam Villanueva, has been diagnosed with a condition that affects her ability to play drums. In a statement on Instagram, the band said that Jam has been dealing with Quervain's tendinosis and 'Drummer's Wrist' for the past couple of weeks. They also said that Jam continued rehearsing with the band for their recent performances last weekend, 'while working with specialists to manage her pain.' 'We want to assure everyone that the condition is temporary and treatable – it's something that many drummers have gone through and recovered from,' they said. However, to properly heal, 'Jam's doctor has advised her to completely rest her left wrist for at least the entire month of June.' 'While we will miss the energy and magic she shares with us on stage, her health is our utmost priority.' With this, Ben&Ben is rescheduling their The Traveller Across Dimensions shows in Bacolod and Davao tour shows. They are still finalizing the details. Ben&Ben kicked off their The Traveller Across Dimensions tour in Cebu on May 24. The Bacolod show was originally scheduled for June 8, whereas the Davao show was for June 22. After the Philippine leg, the band will fly to California for a show on July 12 and Singapore on December 14. More cities for the tour will be announced soon. Ben&Ben's latest single 'Saranggola' was released in April and marked their eight years as a band. Their latest album 'The Traveller Across Dimensions' was released in November 2024. It includes the tracks, 'Could Be Something,' 'Comets,' and 'Triumph.' The band had a major concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in December 2024 in support of the album. The show featured Ben&Ben's live music with filmmaking and multimedia elements to create an animation-concert hybrid. Ben&Ben also performed at the Off Limits Music Festival in Abu Dhabi in April. Ed Sheeran, One Republic, and Kaiser Chiefs were also part of the lineup. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News

Make no apologies: US pop band OneRepublic secured for Lookout Festival

US pop-rock superstars OneRepublic will headline the return of Lookout Festival to Lake Macquarie next year. The Apologize and Counting Stars hit-makers will perform at Speers Point Park on Saturday, February 7, alongside Australian acts Birds of Tokyo, Eskimo Joe, and Sneaky Sound System, with more acts yet to be announced. Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson has also been included as a special guest. Larsson is best known for her electro-pop tracks Lush Life and Never Forget You. While the 27-year-old might be relatively unknown to mainstream Australian audiences, Larsson commands a monthly Spotify listenership of almost 24 million. It's a decidedly more pop and commercial lineup than this year's Lookout Festival, which featured '90s and 2000s Aussie rockers Jet, Grinspoon, The Veronicas, Spiderbait, Jebediah, and Magic Dirt. The Grammy-nominated OneRepublic has amassed over five billion streams on Spotify alone. The Colorado-bred band released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, in 2007. It included the 20 million-selling hit single Apologize, which topped the ARIA charts. OneRepublic has been a regular on the world's pop charts over the past two decades. Their 2022 single, I Ain't Worried, featured in the film Top Gun: Maverick and has been streamed three billion times. Pre-sale tickets for Lookout Festival begin on Wednesday at 1pm, followed by general sale on Friday at 2pm.
