Onslow County Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Police Department team up for Kits4Kids

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with the Jacksonville Police Department to assemble and receive Kits4Kids. The First Responder Kits4Kids program as developed to help alleviate kid's anxiety during emergency situations. The program was developed by North Carolina men James Fisher-Davis and Kevin Gatlin. The two are devoted fathers who saw a need for children to be comforted during traumatic emergencies. Every kit contains a playtime disposable play pad that has 25 interactive activities, crayons, a Rubik's cube, a miniature emergency vehicle, Play-Doh, a puzzle, noise cancelling earplugs, a colorful stress ball, hand wipes and a hand written note from first responders to provide encouragement. Deputies seeking suspect in robbery of Onslow County convenience store

HUBERT, N.C. (WNCT) — Deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office are investigating a robbery at a convenience store in Hubert early Wednesday, May 21, 2025. It happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Beast Mart Gas Station and Convenience Store on Sand Ridge Road. Upon arriving, deputies found someone had taken an unknown amount of cash from the register. The suspect had left the store by that time and deputies searched the area but were not able to find the suspect. Detectives are trying to identify the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. David Moore at 910-989-4040. Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information deemed valuable to law enforcement. ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Officials with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office arrested the suspect in the Peeping Tom incidents that occurred in the Piney Green area in late April. On Friday, May 16, 2025, officials arrested Arkie Lee Winston, 36, of Jacksonville, N.C. without incident. Winston was charged with misdemeanor secretly peeping into room occupied by female and was given a $1,000 secured bond. Winston is currently out on bond and awaiting his next court date. Jacksonville Police Department, Onslow County Sheriff's Office participate in annual torch run

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Tuesday is the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in Jacksonville. The run includes Jacksonville Police Department officers, Chief Jarad Phelps and Onslow County Sheriff's Office deputies. This benefits Special Olympics North Carolina, a non-profit that helps intellectually disabled athletes compete in twenty different sports programs year-round. The run will begin with police officers at the Department of Public Safety and onto the Onslow County Sheriff's Department where the torch will be passed to deputies for leg 4 at Piney Green Road. The Flame of Hope is carried across the state in The Torch Run Final Leg to light a cauldron that officially opens the Special Olympics North Carolina Summer Games.
