OpTic Gaming Scoop the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at 2025 Esports World Cup Title in a Thrilling Four Game Sweep
OpTic Gaming has won the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at 2025 Esports World Cup, beating Vancouver Surge 4-0 in the grand final to become the 11th unique champion at the Esports World Cup 2025. After strong performances across the four days of competition, OpTic Gaming are the champions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the Esports World Cup 2025. The American organisation, which finished in the top four in last year's event, capped off an incredible end to the year with the win. In doing so, they beat Vancouver Surge in a Best-of-Seven without dropping a game, having also beaten them in the Call of Duty League Championship final just weeks ago. The tournament, which is one of the biggest on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 calendar, saw 18 of the world's best Call of Duty teams head to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to battle it out over a $1,800,000 prize pool, of which OpTic Gaming will now take home $600,000. The win also secures their qualification for EWC 2026. Claiming first Esports World Cup title The victory sees OpTic win their first Esports World Cup title, a welcome victory alongside the CDL Championship win, having faced a tough start to the 2025 season. Struggling to overcome those difficulties, OpTic made two changes between last year's event and this year's, bringing in Cuyler 'Huke' Garland and Mason 'Mercules' Ramsey, who both pulled off big performances in order to deliver their team the trophy. 'Well, last time we played them, we knew we probably should have won 5-1, so. We just honed in on our mistakes and made that look easy,' said Team OpTic's Mason 'Mercules' Ramsey. 'Honestly, once we won against Team Heretics, we knew we were winning it as long as we just played our game. Definitely proud of myself, super thankful to my teammates. You guys are the best in the world.' Anthony 'Shotzzy' Cuevas-Castro was named the SONY MVP following the impressive 4-0 sweep in the final. He will receive an additional $10,000 and the MVP medal to recognise his achievements. 'Undeniably, the players on this team are unbelievably talented,' said MVP Anthony 'Shotzzy' Cuevas-Castro. 'It feels like we are cheating at times!' OpTic Gaming earns 1000 Club Championship points for their victory. This is OpTic Gaming's first victory at the Esports World Cup 2025, and puts them in joint ninth place as things stand. OpTic Gaming still have chances to secure a crucial second top eight finish during the remaining events at the EWC 25. Short link : Post Views: 17

OpTic roll to title in CoD Black Ops 6 event at Esports World Cup
(Photo credit: Bruce Kluckhohn-Imagn Images) After a pair of thrilling semifinals, the final turned out to be the most one-sided match of the tournament as OpTic Gaming dominated the Vancouver Surge 4-0 on Sunday to win the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 tournament at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The win not only netted OpTic the $600,000 grand prize but also earned the team a berth in the 2026 Esports World Cup. OpTic also received 1,000 club points in the EWC standings, their first points of the event. The Surge took home $320,000. The day began with the four group winners facing off in the semifinals, sporting a combined 12-0 record since play began. The Surge opened the day with a 250-241 win over KOI on Red Card Hardpoint. KOI responded with a 6-2 win on Dealership Search and Destroy. The teams split the next two maps, as well, with the Surge winning 3-2 on Vault Control and KOI taking Vault Hardpoint 250-161. In the deciding map, the Surge escaped with a 6-5 win on Protocol Search and Destroy. OpTic took a much different path to the final, losing the first two maps in their semifinal against Team Heretics -- 250-249 on Skyline Hardpoint and 6-5 on Rewind Search and Destroy. But it was all OpTic from there, as the club won 3-2 on Hacienda Control, 250-186 on Rewind Hardpoint and 6-3 on Protocol Search and Destroy. Then came the stunner. After jumping in front with a 250-236 result on Rewind Hardpoint, OpTic took a 2-0 lead on the Surge by winning Protocol Search and Destroy 6-1. Vancouver could not mount any sort of comeback, however, and fell 3-1 on Protocol Control and 250-118 on Hacienda Hardpoint. KOI edged Heretics 3-2 in the third-place match, winning $200,000. Group winners all advance in CoD Black Ops 6 at Esports World Cup
(Photo credit: Mikala Compton/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images) If there were any question as to the best teams competing in the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 tournament at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, they were certainly answered on Saturday. The four teams that finished first in group play in the event -- OpTic Gaming, Team Heretics, KOI and the Vancouver Surge -- each won their quarterfinal playoff matches with ease, leaving the four best teams from the start as the final four remaining teams. Heretics got things started with a 3-1 win over the Boston Breach, losing 250-175 on Hacienda Hardpoint before ripping off three straight wins -- 6-1 on Rewind Search and Destroy, 3-0 on Vault Control, and 250-225 on Skyline Hardpoint. Heretics will next face OpTic in one semifinal after the latter also won its quarterfinal 3-1. OpTic opened its tilt with 100 Thieves with a 250-116 win on Skyline Hardpoint before 100 Thieves bounced back with a 6-4 win on Rewind Search and Destroy. A 3-1 win on Hacienda Control put OpTic on the verge of winning, and victory was secured in the next map with a 250-193 win on Rewind Hardpoint. The other side of the bracket were a pair of sweeps. First, the Surge beat FiveFears 250-164 on Vault Hardpoint to open their match, then won 6-1 on Dealership Search and Destroy and 3-2 on Protocol Control to put the match away. KOI then made quick work of OMiT, winning 250-144 on Vault Hardpoint, 6-5 on Protocol Search and Destroy, and 3-1 on Vault Control. The tournament culminates on Sunday, with OpTic and Heretics facing off in one semifinal and KOI playing the Surge in the other. The losers will then play a third-place match later Sunday followed by the grand final.
