Battlefield 6's anti-cheat system has already blocked over 330,000 bad apples, but with more flooding the FPS' Open Beta, EA says it "was not intended to be a silver bullet"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The Battlefield 6 Open Beta has the hereditary FPS curse: cheaters ahoy! But EA's hard at work disposing of the bad apples and it's acknowledged it has a long way to go before it's fully weeded out the rot. The update comes via a forum update centred around Battlefield 6's Secure Boot, a mandatory anti-cheat measure that'll block entry into the shooter's gates if disabled or if it detects that your PC is running with "vulnerable drivers enabled." With reports about rampant cheating in the upcoming game, EA has said "Secure Boot is not, and was not intended to be a silver bullet." Instead, Secure Boot and the anti-cheat system the Battlefield folks call Javelin is in a constant tug of war with cheaters. "Secure Boot is how you're helping us build up our arsenal," the update continues. "It's another barrier that helps us make it harder for cheat developers to create cheat programs, and makes it easier for us to detect it when they do." EA claims its system "has prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls," and players have reported over 100,000 instances of potential cheaters to the Battlefield Studios netwatch. "Anti-Cheat isn't one and done, it's an ever evolving battlefield, and what has worked for us previously or in different games doesn't always work in all of them." Even with all the aimbots and wallhacks floating about various matches, Battlefield 6's beta still managed to level its predecessors and reached the most concurrent Steam users in series history, tripling Battlefield 2042's record in mere hours. "CoD won't be lazy anymore": Ex Blizzard boss predicts a beating for Call of Duty at the hands of Battlefield 6, says Activision's FPS "has gone downhill for years"

Battlefield 6 tops Twitch rankings and Steam charts during Open Beta launch weekend
Battlefield 6 has made a striking debut during its Open Beta, becoming the most-watched game on Twitch and securing one of the highest concurrent player counts on Steam just minutes after launch. As Battlefield 6 entered its early access phase on August 7, limited to those with Twitch drop codes, it immediately climbed to over 600,000 viewers on Twitch—a figure far surpassing its closest competitor, League of Legends, which recorded just over 100,000 viewers at the same time. The excitement was mirrored on PC as well. Steam Charts showed the Open Beta rising rapidly to the fourth most-played game on the platform, with more than 190,000 players logged in simultaneously. These figures do not include players accessing via EA Play or console, indicating the total audience could be substantially higher. Despite its brief window of availability, the Open Beta's popularity has been unmistakable. Massive queues have formed on PC, with some players facing wait times long enough to prompt reminders, such as ensuring Secure Boot is enabled before entering the line. Running from August 7 to 10, Battlefield 6 Open Beta has already demonstrated a robust reception. The streaming and playing figures reflect elevated interest in the game, supporting the anticipation built by earlier trailers and gameplay reveals. With early access underway and broader availability scheduled later, the game's strong start on Twitch and Steam suggests that Battlefield 6 is positioned for a successful full release.

Despite Long Queues, Battlefield 6's Open Beta Playercount Is Skyrocketing
Today, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta has gone live after several weeks of previews that stunned many onlookers and made them believe that this may in fact be an all-timer for the series. Now, players are getting their hands on the game for themselves. To say that there's significant interest in the Battlefield 6 beta is an understatement. As I write this, the Open Beta is hitting new highs, and passed 300,000 concurrent players a few hours ago on Steam. It's in fourth place, only behind the never-ending staples of CS2, Dota 2 and PUBG. It's already climbed to 323,000 and continues to go higher every few minutes. Battlefield 6 is already the 7th most-played game on PlayStation despite release just a few hours ago. In the US, it is 8:45 AM EDT on a Thursday… The question here is if Battlefield 6 can put an actual dent in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 this fall, its eternal rival that it has not competed with in any truly significant capacity. There was a story going around from Tom Henderson the last few days that Activision leadership is not concerned with Battlefield 6 and believes Call of Duty is 'too big to fail.' But they are also 'keeping a close eye on Battlefield.' Is Activision right? Maybe. Call of Duty essentially never loses its throne of the best-selling game of the year any time there isn't a Grand Theft Auto out, albeit one recent exception was Hogwarts Legacy. But pride comes before the fall, and Call of Duty players have had it with certain aspects of the game, from stale gameplay to cheaters to goofy Fortnite-ish skins that keep being added to its cash shop. Those who aren't in the beta are at least watching it. Battlefield 6 currently has 755,000 viewers on Twitch alone, more than triple the next closest game, League of Legends, and almost eight times as many as Fortnite, which just launched an entirely new season today. It is hard to imagine that Battlefield 6 is going to be anything less than an unequivocal success when it's released later this fall. The bar does not need to be beating Call of Duty to be considered a major hit, albeit I'm sure that's a milestone DICE and EA would die to hit. We'll see if it's remotely possible. Battlefield 6 Beta early access timeline, Open Beta schedule, rewards and more
Image via: x/Battlefield Image via: x/Battlefield Image via: x/Battlefield Image via: x/Battlefield Image via: x/Battlefield 1 2 With the anticipation for Battlefield 6 at an all-time high, Electronic Arts (EA) has embarked on the Open Beta phase with a fan-first approach. Moving away from the classic closed sign-ups and registration forms, EA has chosen to partner with Twitch to allow players early access through an interactive process: watch a stream and enter the game. With two Open Beta rollouts and waves of exclusive in-game rewards up for grabs, Battlefield 6 is not only giving a peek into the next era of warfare but also changing the way players join the frontline. The Revolution of Twitch Drops EA has taken a candid new way to pass Beta entry this year. Instead of restricting entry to only registered users or demanding special pre-orders, Battlefield 6 beta keys are being distributed via Twitch Drops. Starting from August 7, anybody could watch a participating Battlefield 6 stream with "Drops Enabled" for 30 minutes, developing not only a wider audience base but also a community spirit as the players discover the game group-wise alongside the streamers. A user has to link EA and Twitch accounts via a quick one-time setup to get in and access beta plus plenty of exclusive cosmetic rewards. Two Open Beta Periods, Two Chances The Battlefield 6 Open Beta runs two windows: Phase 1: August 7 – August 10 (Early Access via Twitch Drops) Phase 2: August 14 – August 17 (General Open Beta for All Players) Phase 1 requires participation through Twitch, and Phase 2 unlocks with no strings attached. This staggered schedule lets EA tweak servers and take feedback while they still miss the first wave. Stack Up Rewards by Watching More What this beta rollout offers is that it boasts a tiered loot system tied to watch time: The longer you stay, the more rare the in-game items that you unbox. Here's what will be given away throughout the two beta weekends: 30 minutes: Early Access Beta Code 1 hour: Mimic Weapons Package 2 hours: Landslide Soldier Skin 3 hours: Shattered Vehicle Skin 4 hours : Imperial Soldier Skin All codes are given via Twitch's Drops Inventory and can be redeemed directly through EA's Battlefield 6 portal. How to Unlock Battlefield 6 Beta Access Using Twitch Drops Getting into the beta is a simple matter of a few steps: Step 1: Link Your Accounts. From the EA account portal, be sure to link both your Twitch and EA accounts. Step 2: Watch a Drops-Enabled Stream. Now hop onto Twitch and find any Battlefield 6 stream with the "Drops Enabled" tag. Step 3: Watch for 30 Minutes. Stay in the stream for 30 minutes at any time between August 7 and 8 to then receive your Early Access Beta Code. Step 4: Claim Your Reward and Redeem. At that time, the reward will be available under your Twitch Drops Inventory. Redeem the code on the Battlefield 6 beta website to unlock the access. This procedure will also make you eligible for other cosmetic items in the game if you continue watching. Battlefield 6 Beta Early Access And Open All You Need To Know! By the Twitch integration, EA is not just testing gameplay and mechanics under this beta but is rather stress-testing a new model for player engagement. The Battlefield 6 beta, aided by rewarding community participation and offering an open door, feels far more inclusive and exciting than past iterations. It is also indicative of the bigger industry trend where community-generated content and access are slowly replacing the once-gatekeeping pre-order and insider paths. For fans, that means less gatekeeping and more action. Battlefield 6's beta, whether you are just down to check out the latest map layouts and weapon load-outs or just wanting to show off your new Landslide skin, is really setting things up to be one of the most community-connected releases the franchise has ever seen.
