Open Day at SJCE showcases student innovations

Mysuru: A footfall of more than 8,000 visitors were recorded at 'Open Day 2025', an initiative by JSS Science and Technology University and Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) which was held on the SJCE premises on Saturday. CG Betsurmath, executive secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, inaugurated the Open Day and launched a 'Virtual Tour' application. The application created by students was designed to assist attendees in navigating the Open Day campus events. Live demonstrations of student projects and working models were presented, along with a variety of competitions, including model exhibitions, poster presentations and prototype displays. Engineering students participated in project presentation competitions, while department exhibits were evaluated by a panel of judges. A major crowd-puller was the air show facilitated by the department of mechanical engineering at the KSCA Grounds. AN Santosh Kumar, vice chancellor; C Nataraju, principal (in-charge); P Nanjundaswamy, controller of examinations; BS Harish, deputy registrar; and event conveners KM Anil Kumar and MN Nagendra Prasad were present.

‘Open Day 2025' on SJCE campus in Mysuru draws students, parents

The 'Open Day 2025', organised by JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) and Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), was inaugurated here on Saturday, drawing students and parents. The event was formally declared open at the SJCE Statue Circle by C.G. Betsurmath, executive secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, who was the chief guest for the occasion. A.N. Santosh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, JSS STU, C. Nataraju, principal (in charge), P. Nanjundaswamy, Controller of Examinations, and B.S. Harish, deputy registrar were present. Event conveners K.M. Anil Kumar and M.N. Nagendra Prasad, along with university officers, heads of departments, faculty members, and students from Mysuru and surrounding regions, were also present. Dr. Betsurmath unveiled a Virtual Tour application, developed by university students. It is designed to guide visitors through the day's campus activities and exhibitions. The campus bustled with activity throughout the day as attendees explored live demonstrations, working models, and project displays, showcasing the institution's focus on technological innovation, research, and real-world applications. Competitions such as model exhibitions, poster presentations, and prototype displays highlighted the creativity and problem-solving skills of participating students. Students from various engineering colleges in Mysuru, Bengaluru, and nearby regions took part in project presentation contests. Departmental showcases were evaluated by a panel of judges. The event also featured cultural performances by the students while interactive stalls set up by student clubs engaged visitors with games and creative activities. A major highlight was the aerial show conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the KSCA Grounds. With a footfall exceeding 8,000 attendees, 'Open Day 2025' served as an engaging platform for students to showcase their talents and for visitors to experience the academic environment of JSS STU and SJCE.

Mysuru: JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), in collaboration with its constituent institution Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), will host Open Day 2025 on the SJCE campus on Saturday. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, C Nataraju, principal of SJCE, said, "The Open Day is a unique opportunity for prospective students, parents, and the general public to explore the university's state-of-the-art infrastructure, academic programmes, student initiatives, and vibrant campus life." The event will be inaugurated by CG Betsurmath, executive secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha. Also in attendance will be Dr AN Santosh Kumar, vice-chancellor of JSS STU, the registrar, university officials, faculty, and students. Harish, registrar, said, "Key highlights of the Open Day include live interactions with faculty and students from all departments, campus tours and demonstrations of cutting-edge facilities, project exhibitions featuring research and innovation, thematic competitions such as poster presentations, product demonstrations, and prototype showcases centred on sustainability in environment, health, and energy, and career guidance and admission counselling for aspiring students. The event is designed to offer a comprehensive insight into the academic and co-curricular environment at JSS STU, enabling students to make informed career decisions." Jayciana 2025, one of South India's premier student-run cultural festivals, will be held on June 1 and 2. Seema Latkar, police commissioner of Mysuru City, will inaugurate the festival at 6pm. On June 2, the celebration will continue with captivating performances by vocal duo Sukriti and Prakriti Kakkar, accompanied by their musical ensemble. Nagendra Prakash, dean, described Jayciana as "a spectacular blend of tradition, creativity, and youthful energy," promoting collaboration across institutions, disciplines, and generations. Anil Kumar, dean, was also present. Campus placements Pradeep, placement officer at SJCE, announced that 90% of students secured placements through campus recruitment. Notably, Shreeya Pai, a final-year computer science student, received the highest offer of Rs 42 lakh per annum, while the average salary package stands at Rs 10 lakh.

JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), in association with its prestigious constituent college Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), on Thursday said that it will be organising Open Day 2025 on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the SJCE campus here. C.G. Betsurmath, executive secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, will inaugurate the event in the presence of A.N. Santosh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, JSS STU, the registrar, principal, faculty, staff, and students. A ceremonial flag off will be held at 10 a.m. at the SJCE Statue Circle. Open Day 2025 aims to offer a comprehensive view of the university's academic environment, the JSS STU said. The event attracted over 1,500 participants, including prospective students and their guardians from across the region, offering valuable insights into engineering education and career opportunities .CEO and chief scientist of Prosetta Bioinformatics, M Dharmaprasad, encouraged students to choose institutions that not only offer academic excellence but also foster responsible citizenship, leadership qualities, and personal vice-president at Infosys, Mysuru, KS Sunder, emphasised the significance of problem-based learning, business transformation in engineering, and interdisciplinary education .
