Walton County to conduct yearly AlertWalton TEST Exercise
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Walton County Emergency Management (WCEM) department scheduled their sixth annual TEST of the AlertWalton Emergency Notification System for Friday, May 30.
According to a news release, this exercise is known as 'Operation: Know Your Zone' and will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The drill is designed to test the abilities of Walton County's AlertWalton notification system. In the event of an emergency, residents will receive important information to take action. The exercise helps the public understand the evacuation process and residents' evacuation zones, including zones A, B, C, D, and E, in preparation for hurricane season.

Those outside of evacuation zones will receive notifications with preparedness information.
'Performing this drill on a yearly basis allows our residents to better prepare for future emergencies and helps our staff find ways to improve our practices,' Director of Walton County Emergency Management Jeff Goldberg said.
The communications for this exercise are meant to mimic a real-world evacuation order.
