Drugs valued at €2.2 million seized by gardaí in Dublin and Laois
More than €2 million of drugs have been seized in related raids by gardaí in Laois and Dublin. A man has been arrested in connection with the seizure and is being detained under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in the Dublin metropolitan region. The raids were part of investigations under Operation Tara targeting drug-trafficking networks. Officers from Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau were involved in the raids with help from the Clondalkin Drugs Unit. READ MORE They first intercepted a vehicle on the M7 in Co Laois on Friday. About €100,000 of suspected cocaine was discovered and seized. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene. A follow-up search at a home in west Dublin led to the discovery of an estimated €160,000 cannabis, €1.2 million ketamine, €530,000 cocaine and €210,000 diamorphine. Cash and a number of items were also seized by gardaí. The seized drugs, with a total estimated street value of €2.2 million, have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Gardaí said investigations were continuing.

Gardai seize €1.2m of ketamine in drugs bust as man (30s) arrested
In total €2.2m worth of drugs were discovered alongside cash and a number of other iterms. Approximately €2.2 million worth of drugs – including €1.2m of ketamine – have been seized by gardaí as part of a seizure operation on Friday evening. A man in his 30s has also been arrested in connection to the operation. Gardaí have said that an unspecified quantity of cash and a number of items were also seized by officers. They added that the seized drugs have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. In a statement, a Garda spokesperson added: 'This seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on 2nd July 2021. "The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs."

More than €2m worth of drugs seized by gardaí after intercpeting vehicle
Over €2m of illegal drugs including cocaine and ketamine were seized by Gardai in Co Laois on Friday and a man was arrested. The seizure was part of on-going investigations under Operation Tara, a project targeting drug trafficking networks. The Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau with assistance from the Clondalkin Drugs Unit stopped a vehicle on the M7 motorway in Co Laois on Friday evening. Approximately €100,000 worth of suspected cocaine was discovered and seized by Gardaí. A male, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Dublin. A follow-up search was conducted of a residence in West Dublin. This led to a further seizure of an estimated €160,000 worth of cannabis, €1.2m ketamine, €530,000 in cocaine and €210,000 worth of diamorphine. Cash and a number of items were also seized by Gardaí. The seized drugs has an estimated street value of €2.2m according to a Garda spokesman. They have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Investigations are ongoing. Operation Tara was launched in July 2021. 'The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs,' the Garda spokesman said on Saturday.
