Two seriously injured in Bay of Plenty crash
File photo. Photo: RNZ / Simon Rogers Two people are seriously injured after getting trapped inside their car following a crash in rural Eastern Bay of Plenty. St John said it was alerted to the single vehicle crash on Waioeka Road in Otara in the Ōpōtiki District just after 9:30pm and arrived at the scene five minutes later. Two patients are in a serious condition and were treated by ambulance staff at the scene, before being transported to the hospital, one by helicopter and one by ambulance. Fire and Emergency said two of its crews from Ōpōtiki responded to the incident and freed the two occupants of the car using rescue equipment.
