If you're checking camera specs next year, you might mix up the Find X9 Ultra with the Galaxy S26 Ultra
Oppo Find X8 Ultra. | Image credit – PhoneArena Sometime next year – most likely in early spring – Oppo is expected to unveil its next premium flagship, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. This phone will sit at the very top of Oppo's lineup, and leaks suggest some major upgrades are on the way. One of the biggest changes could be in the camera department. Rumors already pointed to a new 200 MP main snapper and now we may know the exact sensor Oppo is planning to use. According to a fresh report, it is the 200 MP sensor currently being developed by Sony, sized at 1/1.1". That's not a full 1-inch sensor, but it's close. In the comments section under a recent post, leaker Digital Chat Station revealed the type of sensor Oppo might use. | Screenshot by PhoneArena Samsung is also rumored to be eyeing the very same sensor for the Galaxy S26 Ultra's main camera. If that is true, next year's showdown between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra could be tighter than ever – after all, they might end up sharing identical hardware. A larger sensor naturally means more light intake, which should improve image quality compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's current setup. For Oppo, this would be the first jump to 200 MP, moving up from the 50 MP main camera on the Find X8 Ultra. That said, the 50 MP 1-inch sensor already performs exceptionally well. In fact, it scored 157 points in PhoneArena's custom Camera Score test, putting it almost neck and neck with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra at the very top. Oppo Find X8 Ultra review: The best Ultra phone released in 2025! If these leaks pan out, both the Find X9 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra could deliver sharper cropped zoom shots and better low-light performance than their current versions. Main camera aside, Oppo is rumored to be refreshing its whole imaging setup and possibly introducing a new photography kit. Typically, this is an attachable grip that connects via USB-C and adds camera-like controls – think shutter button, zoom toggle, and a photo/video switch. Under the hood, the Find X9 Ultra should be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite that's currently fueling some of the best Android phones out there. There is, however, one big catch: availability. Oppo's Ultra models often don't launch worldwide, and it looks like the Find X9 Ultra might stay fairly limited again. Which is a shame – because with specs like these, it's shaping up to be a really exciting flagship.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra could have the same main camera sensor as the Galaxy S26 Ultra
Vlad, 16 August 2025 The upcoming Oppo Find X9 Ultra has already been rumored to sport a new 200 MP main camera, and today prolific Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station has shed light on which sensor it will use. It turns out it's the one that Sony is developing - with 200 MP resolution and a 1/1.1" type size. That's not quite 1-inch type, but pretty close. Oppo Find X8 Ultra Intriguingly, Samsung has been rumored to have chosen this exact sensor to use in the Galaxy S26 Ultra's main camera. If all of these rumors pan out, we'll have an interesting situation next year when both the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Find X9 Ultra arrive, as they will compete against each other while using the same main camera sensor. Well, in theory at least - if the Find X9 Ultra isn't officially sold outside of China (and that's definitely not outside the realm of possibility), then given Samsung's minuscule market share in China, the two won't really compete head-to-head anywhere. Anyway, the Find X9 Ultra will launch after the Chinese New Year (which falls on February 17). DCS says it might arrive a little bit sooner than its predecessor, which was unveiled on April 10, so if we were to bet we'd go with an unveiling sometime in March. Source (in Chinese)

Just like the Find X8 Ultra, its successor will feature four cameras, but there will be bigger sensors inside the Find X9 Ultra. For starters, Oppo's upcoming flagship is rumored to boast an incredible 200-megapixel main camera, which will be complemented by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a pair of periscope telephoto cameras: 200-megapixel and 50-megapixel. Oppo Find X7 Ultra | Image credit: PhoneArena In comparison, Oppo Find X8 Ultra has four 50-megapixel cameras. It's also worth mentioning that the 200-megapixel camera will also double as a macro lens and will feature 10x optical zoom. In a previous report, DCS claimed the Find X9 Ultra sports a large 6.82-inch OLED display with 2K+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. Unsurprisingly, the flagship is expected to ship with ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, which is expected to be released soon after Google launches the stable version of Android 16 . Featuring at least two major upgrades – camera and processor, as well as a smaller one – display, the Find X9 Ultra will be a strong competitor for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Even if this particular model will remain exclusive to China, a slightly different version is likely to make it globally. It remains to be seen if the international model will be just as powerful as the Chinese variant.
