By: Amir Anuar Text Size: TAWAU: Police arrested a 34-year-old local suspected of stealing a laptop during an integrated crime prevention operation at the Jalan SK Gabungan parking area here on Saturday. The arrest, made less than 24 hours after receiving a tip-off, reflects the police's rapid response in combating crime. Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect was detained around 6.20pm during Ops Bersepadu Cegah Jenayah/Op Kesan. He said the man had been acting suspiciously while carrying a paper bag, prompting police to stop and search him. 'Upon inspection, police recovered a branded laptop bag and its contents, believed reported stolen earlier,' Jasmin said in a statement on Sunday. The suspect reportedly became aggressive and refused to cooperate, forcing officers to use minimal force to subdue him. Further checks revealed his prior criminal record, including drug-related offences.
