Kemaman cops seize 12 motorcycles in anti-street racing operation
CHUKAI: Twelve motorcycles have been seized during a two-day anti-street racing operation dubbed Ops Samseng Jalanan here. Kemaman police chief Supt Mohd Razi Rosli said the operation was conducted after a viral video showed a group of motorcyclists racing and riding recklessly around the town. He added that they issued 74 summonses for various offences under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987. "The operation involved 17 personnel from 1am to 5am on Saturday (June 7) and continued on Sunday (June 8) during the same hours. During the operation, we seized 12 motorcycles and issued 74 summonses after inspecting 68 vehicles," he said in a statement on Sunday. Mohd Razi urged parents to pay closer attention to their children's movements and activities, particularly those involving motorcycles. He said illegal street racing not only breaks the law but also poses a threat to the lives and safety of other road users. – Bernama

District Acting Police Chief, Supt Jimmy Panyau said, the operation which carried out from 9pm to 4.45am aims to curb street thugs involving motorcyclists. 'Following the operation, 12 summons were issued on various offences including for not having a license, no side mirror, exhaust modification and others. 'A total of 42 individuals and 30 vehicles were inspected resulting in three motorcycles were seized under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987,' he said. According to Jimmy, Police will not compromise against street thugs as it may endanger other road users. Cops inspect 1,300 motorcycles in crackdown on illegal street racing in KL
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,300 motorcycles were inspected during Ops Samseng Jalanan conducted by the police across several hotspots in the federal capital on Friday (May 16) night. Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the operation aimed to reduce road accidents and address complaints from hotel owners about noisy motorcycles disturbing their guests at night. The operation, which began at 9pm, covered several areas including Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Bukit Bintang and the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE). "We detected various offences including illegal modifications, riding without a licence, and expired road tax. Some riders even attempted to flee by riding against traffic to avoid the roadblocks," he said, adding that such actions could embarrass the country, especially with the Asean Summit approaching. The overnight operation ended at 4.30am with the police issuing 1,006 summonses, while the Road Transport Department (JPJ), which joined the operation, issued 206. A total of 55 motorcycles and one car were also seized. A Bernama check at the roadblock in Jalan Ampang observed several riders attempting to escape inspection by riding against traffic, but they were swiftly intercepted by motorcycle patrol units. — Bernama
