Oreo and Reese's Collaborate on the Most Delicious New Treats
When America's number one candy and the number one cookie join forces, the food offering is delicious. Oreo and Reese's released two new treats, and everyone is signing up for the first taste. Over the years, people have asked, begged and pleaded for Oreo and Reese's to release a chocolate sandwich cookie with a creamy peanut butter center or a peanut butter cup with cookie pieces mixed into the cream. After a long wait, those sweet dreams have become in September, both the Reese's Oreo Cup and Oreo Reese's Cookies will hit store shelves. Both brands start online preorders on August 18. More information can be found on Oreo's Unwrap the Collab site and Hershey's preorder landing page. The Oreo Reese's Cookies start with the classic chocolate cookie. The filling is the iconic Reese's peanut butter crème with Oreo cookie pieces folded into it. The cookie pieces in the crème add a nice texture to break up the richness. The Reese's Oreo Cup combines the best of both treats. The peanut butter center has Oreo cookie crumbs mixed into it. The chocolate is split with both a milk chocolate and a white crème. By using both chocolates, it captures that cookies and cream flavor with the crunchy texture people expect. Anyone who remembers the Mallow-Top Reese's or the Franken-Cup Reese's will see a similar layered visual. Both the candy and cookie brands believe that these crossover products will have shoppers running to get a first taste. As Dan Mohnshine, Vice President, U.S. Confection Marketing, The Hershey Company said, "This isn't just another product launch — it's two legendary brands coming together to create something absolutely unprecedented that'll blow minds and taste buds everywhere." Oreo Just Announced a New Flavor, and No One Saw This Coming
It's the collab of the century. As a pop culture nerd, I live for a good crossover. Like that Friends episode that featured George Clooney and Noah Wyle as their ER characters. Or more recently, when the cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia appeared on Abbott Elementary. The math is simple: If you like two things separately, then you'll probably like them even more once they're combined. It's the basis for a lot of great culinary feats, like brookies and Caesar salad wraps (two things I'd eat every single day if I could). Now imagine my delight when I learned that Oreo went to the candy aisle for a collaboration with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Hello, Oreo Reese's cookie!Oreos with Reese's Peanut Butter Creme The Product: Imagine the peanut butter filling of a Reese's cup between two Oreo cookies. Why I'm Excited: The salty-sweet peanut butter creme will be the perfect complement to chocolatey Oreo cookies. How has this not been done before?What Is the Oreo Reese's Cookie? This brand-new flavor will use the standard Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies, and the filling will be Reese's peanut butter-flavored creme with Oreo cookie crumbs. You're probably thinking, Wait, didn't we already have peanut butter Oreos? Yes, we did. Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Oreo cookies were introduced in May 2014. That version had a filling that was half peanut butter creme and half chocolate, a combo that wasn't well-received. Fortunately, this creme will be different, because it will have that signature Reese's salty-sweetness with no chocolate creme to interfere. Since I'm already a huge fan of dipping my regular Oreos in peanut butter, I can't wait to try this new cookie. The addition of Oreo cookie crumbs to the creme is the kind of attention to detail that I've come to expect from my favorite cookie brand. When Will Oreo Reese's Cookies Be in Stores? It's not quite time to grab the keys and run to the store yet. The cookies will be available for presale starting on August 18, and you can join the waitlist as early as July 30. The Oreo Reese's will be available in stores nationwide in September, while supplies last. Since my birthday is in September, I consider this a very nice gift on behalf of Oreo and Reese's. If you want more Oreo x Reese's goodness, then you can also get a hold of the Reese's Oreo Cup. It combines milk chocolate and white chocolate peanut butter cups with Oreo cookie crumbs. The Reese's Oreo Cup will also be available for presale on August 18 before hitting shelves this fall.
