Oriental Research Institute to be presented national award tomorrow
Oriental Research Institute of Mysuru is among the winners of the annual national award instituted by Udupi Bhandarkeri Math (Bhagavatashrama).
The awards will be presented in a ceremony in Belagavi on Friday.
Veteran scholars Parkala Venkatesh Bayari, Katti Pramodacharya of Belagavi and Shashidhar Acharya Kadapa of Mantralayam in Andhra Pradesh will also be presented the national award.
The decades-long work of Oriental Research Institjute in preserving, nurturing and developing Indian knowledge systems, Vedas, culture, palmistry and heritage has been recognised by the award committee.
The Vedapeetha award includes a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, a certificate and a memento.
Researcher and author Parkala Venkatesh Bayari, who teaches Vedas at Purnapragnya Vidyapeetha in Bengaluru has been selected for the Shri Satyatirtha Anugraha Award.
Pandit Katti Pramodacharya, who teaches Vedas and Shastra at Mumbai's Sri Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, will be awarded the Shri Rajvidyamanya Award.
Shashidhar Acharya Kadapa of Guru Sarvabhouma Sanskrit Vidyapeeth of Mantralayam has been selected for the Sri Bhandarkeri Rajahamsa Award.
All three awards carry a cash prize of ₹50,000 each, a certificate of honour and a memento, said Bhandarkeri Mathadhiesh Sri Vidyeshathirtha Swamiji.
The awards will be presented at the Rashtraguru Sri Vedavyasa Jayanti, the 82nd session of the Madhva Raddhanta Samvardha Sabha and the 25th Aradhana of Sri Vidyamanya Tirtha.
Sri Vidyaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji of Udupi Pejawar Math, Vidushi Shubha Santosh, Pandit Badrinathacharya and Srinidhi Vasishtha will be present. Sri Vidyeshathirtha Swamiji will preside over the event, a release said.
