Julianne Moore Premieres ‘Sirens'—and Her Blunt New Bob
Julianne Moore just distilled every major hair trend of summer 2025 into one effortlessly chic haircut. The star debuted her new look at Netflix's global premiere of Sirens in New York City. Enter: The blunt bob. Moore has said goodbye to her signature long lengths to officially join Team Bob like this rest of the world of celebrity. Though Nicole Kidman's Met Gala crop was a fake-out, everyone from Keke Palme to Millie Bobby Brown have chopped their hair. The Sirens star's new look was crafted by Orlando Pita, the hairstylist you'll find getting the likes of Selena Gomez and Anne Hathaway red carpet ready, and coiffing Gigi Hadid's bob for the cover of Vogue. It complemented the elegant styling by Moore's go-to stylist Kate Young, who fitted her in an elegant Bottega Veneta black gown. Sleek, polished, and timeless, Moore's new hairstyle is the ultimate power cut for women over 60—the experts agree. 'The blunt bob is a sharp, straight-across style with no layers—it flatters nearly every face shape,' explains Juandiegoteo, hair designer and Redken ambassador. 'It's especially ideal for fine hair because it creates the illusion of volume. Plus, it's incredibly low-maintenance, air-dries beautifully, and can be tailored in both length and shape to suit your features.' When it comes to color, Javier Mateo, co-founder of THE LAB Beauty Studio, predicts a summer dominated by rich, radiant tones. 'Think copper, amber, and fiery orange—shades that feel bold yet warm, and pair perfectly with sunlit skin,' he shared in a recent trend forecast. Julianne Moore is the summer beauty muse we didn't know we needed.

Madonna ‘channels' late mother by recreating her hairstyle with brunette wig
Madonna has 'channelled' the memory of her late mother by wearing a wavy brunette wig to recreate her style. The 66-year-old singer born in Bay City, Michigan – shared a post on Instagram of her sporting the new hairdo after celebrating Mother's Day with five of her six children, and years after Madonna's mother died in 1963 from breast cancer at the age of 30, shortly after giving birth to her sixth child. Madonna captioned an image of her wearing the wig: 'I missed my mother so I channelled her… .' At the time of her mum's death, Madonna was five years old. Speaking about the impact of that loss in the Sky documentary 'Becoming Madonna', the seven-time Grammy winner said: 'It was just the greatest event of my life. It was like a part of my heart was ripped out.' She continued: 'I was forced to grow up fast and understand my mother's death, to understand the psychological, all things that were going on. It was too much for a child I think.' Madonna, who has 54.6 million followers on social media, wore the wig – reportedly done for her longtime hairstylist Orlando Pita – to resemble her mother's typical daily look. The performer is known for often referencing her late mother in her work, including throughout her recent 'Celebration Tour', which grossed $225.3 million across 81 dates. During her performance of the 2003 track 'Mother and Father', Madonna projected an image of her mother onto the stage. 'When I stepped out on the stage and looked up at my mother's face every night, I said, 'Hello,'' she told fans. She added: 'I said, 'Goodbye.' I said, 'Thank you. I hope you're proud of me.' I said, 'Please protect me and keep me sane.'' In an earlier Instagram post, the singer revealed her family had kept the severity of her mother's illness from her. 'Nobody told me my mother was dying,' she wrote. Madonna added: 'I just watched her disintegrate mysteriously, and then she disappeared, and there was no explanation except that she had gone to sleep, which explains my tumultuous relationship with sleep.' Madonna – nicknamed 'Little Nonnie' by her family – famously visited her mother's grave at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan, during the filming of Alek Keshishian's 1991 documentary 'Truth or Dare'. Her father, Silvio Ciccone, is now 93 and was married to Joan Gustafson – formerly the family's housekeeper – from 1966 until Joan's death in 2023 at age 81 from cancer. On Mother's Day, Madonna shared a photo with her children: 12-year-old twins Estere and Stella, 19-year-old Mercy, 28-year-old Lourdes Leon, and 19-year-old David Banda. Missing from the photo was her 24-year-old son Rocco Ritchie, who she had with her second ex-husband, Guy Ritchie, to whom she was married for seven years before divorcing in 2008. 'Sunshine laughter, horseback riding, soccer, and the sound of music!' Madonna wrote. She added: 'The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another. 'When you raise children to be unique and opinionated, you also create your own debate team! 'Motherhood could never be described with a few words. Nothing can prepare you. Happy Mother's Day to all the women out there doing the heavy Lifting!'

Madonna shares heartbreak that inspired her new look
Exactly one week after Madonna celebrated Mother's Day with five of her six children, her thoughts turned to her own late mother Madonna Louise Fortin Ciccone. The 66-year-old Queen of Pop decided to cover up her signature platinum-blonde bob with a wavy brunette wig, writing: 'I missed my mother so I channeled her...' Michigan-born Madge - who boasts 54.6M social media followers - gave her fans different angles of the obvious hairpiece, which was likely procured by her hairstylist Orlando Pita. Since the seven-time Grammy winner was given the same name as the Michigan-born matriarch, her family nicknamed her 'Little Nonnie.' Madonna was only five when her mom tragically died, age 30, in 1963 from breast cancer after welcoming six children. 'It was just the greatest event of my life. It was like a part of my heart was ripped out,' the Material Girl recalled in Sky documentary Becoming Madonna in January. 'I was forced to grow up fast and understand my mother's death, to understand the psychological, all things that were going on. It was too much for a child I think. Last year, Madonna revealed she was kept in the dark about her mother's terminal illness. 'Nobody told me my mother was dying,' the self-made superstar wrote on Instagram. 'I just watched her disintegrate mysteriously, and then she disappeared, and there was no explanation except that she had gone to sleep, which explains my tumultuous relationship with sleep.' Each night of Madonna's $225.3M-grossing, 81-date Celebration Tour she would project an image of her mother during her 2003 song Mother and Father. 'When I stepped out on the stage and looked up at my mother's face every night, I said, "Hello,"' the two-time Golden Globe winner continued. 'I said, "Goodbye." I said, "Thank you. I hope you're proud of me." I said, "Please protect me and keep me sane."' Madonna famously visited her grave at the Calvary Cemetery in Kawkaklin, MI for a scene in Alek Keshishian's 1991 documentary Truth or Dare. The Italian-American diva's father Silvio Ciccone - who turns 94 on June 2 - was married to the family's housekeeper Joan Gustafson from 1966 until her September 24th death, at age 81, from cancer. Since the seven-time Grammy winner was given the same name as the Michigan-born matriarch, her family nicknamed her 'Little Nonnie' Madonna was only five when her mom tragically died, age 30, in 1963 from breast cancer after welcoming six children: 'It was like a part of my heart was ripped out' The only one missing from the Mother's Day festivities was the two-time divorcée's 24-year-old son Rocco Ritchie (pictured April 25) from her seven-year marriage to second ex-husband Guy Ritchie, which ended in 2008 Last week, Madonna shared a snap of herself surrounded by her 12-year-old identical twin daughters Estere and Stella, 19-year-old daughter Mercy, 28-year-old daughter Lourdes Leon, and 19-year-old son David Banda. The only one missing from the Mother's Day festivities was the two-time divorcée's 24-year-old son Rocco Ritchie from her seven-year marriage to second ex-husband Guy Ritchie, which ended in 2008. 'Sunshine laughter, horseback riding, soccer, and the sound of music!' Madonna gushed. 'The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another. Happy Mother's Day to all the women out there doing the heavy Lifting!' On May 12, Deadline reported that the Evita alum will team up with producer Shawn Levy on a Netflix limited series about her life and music, which is in early development. The project is not related to the self-directed biopic Who's That Girl, starring Julia Garner, which Madonna co-wrote with Erin Cressida Wilson after Universal Pictures shelved it. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer previously helmed two dismally-reviewed box office bombs - Filth and Wisdom in 2008, and W.E. in 2011. Madonna will 'soon' re-release her sixth studio album Bedtime Stories and she's recording a sequel to her 2005 dance album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, with musical director Stuart Price. The Raising Malawi co-founder - who averages 39.1M monthly listeners on Spotify - is the world's best-selling female recording artist and the most successful solo artist in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with 44 No. 1 singles.
