Have you seen this bronze eagle statue missing from downtown Orlando?

A bronze eagle statue is missing from downtown Orlando and police are asking for help from the public to find it. The statue was stolen during a break-in at a law firm near East Pine Street & South Court Avenue owned by a 'well-respected attorney who recently passed away,' according to a Friday news release from the Orlando Police Department. The agency said the statue was last seen April 19 near East Pine Street and South Court Avenue but did not identify the law firm by name or its owner. Detectives believed the suspects dumped it at a specific location but it was no longer there when they searched the area. 'The statue holds deep sentimental value for the attorney's widow, and efforts are underway to recover it,' police said. OPD didn't provide any additional details of the incident in its news release: 'This is all the information we have to share at this time.' Investigators ask anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or have any information about the statue's whereabouts to please call OPD's tip line at 800-423-TIPS.

Watch: Body camera released of downtown Orlando shooting

A fight outside a downtown Orlando bar two weeks ago resulted in a fatal officer-involved shooting early on Easter morning, raising ongoing questions. The family of Johnathan Flores and his friends allege he was shot from behind. The Orlando Police Department has recently released footage of the moments leading up to officers opening fire. The Flores family emphasizes that these videos do not conclusively address the primary question: 'Was Johnathan Flores reaching for a hat or his gun?' In the video, Flores is seen engaging in a fight when a gun drops from his pants. After retrieving the weapon, he walks a short distance and fires it into the air. The sound of gunshots triggers a panic, prompting people to flee while officers converge on Flores. He seems to wobble slightly, attempting to retrieve something from the ground as officers yell commands. As he starts to rise and turns to face the officers, the police begin to shoot. Kenny Riley, a longtime friend and former roommate of Flores, asserts, 'he never threatened anyone. He never pointed the gun. He was picking a hat up off the ground. But I believe that when the police were informed he had fired a weapon, their immediate response was, 'Let's neutralize the threat.'' Riley labeled Flores' choice to bring a gun downtown as foolish. He believed his friend was under the influence. Furthermore, he argued that the Orlando Police officers provided him no opportunity to follow their instructions. Channel 9 is still reviewing some of the video's angles and slowing the chain of events down. We will provide additional updates accordingly. Woman kills her dog in airport bathroom after airline refuses boarding

ALBAWABA - Allison Agatha Lawrence, 57, has been taken into custody by US officials for reportedly murdering her dog in a toilet at Orlando International Airport after being refused boarding with the animal because her travel paperwork were missing. The date of the occurrence was December 16, 2024. The corpse of a little white Schnauzer called Tai Wen was discovered by airport employees in a women's restroom trash can, according to Orlando Police. The dog was found with an identifying tag, collar, and pet service vest on. Its identification was then verified using a microchip. Shortly after being told by airline employees that she would not be able to bring the dog on her journey to Colombia, surveillance video captured Lawrence going into the bathroom by herself. She spent about twenty minutes in a stall before leaving without the animal. Later, a cleaning staff member observed a rubbish bag that was abnormally heavy. Inspection revealed the deceased dog. According to an autopsy, drowning or submersion in water was most likely the cause of death. Lawrence boarded her aircraft to Bogotá and then on to Ecuador in spite of the incident. In the end, she was captured on March 20, 2025, in Florida. She was freed on $5,000 bond and is now facing a third-degree felony charge of aggravated animal cruelty. Dogs entering Colombia are required by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to have a current health certificate and evidence of rabies immunization. Authorities think the airline's rejection and the subsequent horrifying incident were caused by the absence of these papers. Due to the dog's needless death and brutality, the case has generated a lot of internet anger.

Surveillance video captures woman accused of drowning dog at airport, police say

A new report is providing disturbing new details in the case of a woman accused of killing her miniature Schnauzer at Orlando International Airport, then discarding the dog's body in the trash. Channel 9 first broke the story Wednesday after 57-year-old Alison Agatha Lawrence posted a $5,000 bond on an Aggravated Animal Abuse charge. According to Orlando Police, cleaning staff found Tywinn, a 9-year-old miniature schnauzer, after he was killed in the airport bathroom. An arrest report says cleaning staff noticed lots of water in a handicap stall then made the gruesome discovery. According to Police, the dog's owner, Alison Lawrence, was supposed to get on a flight to Colombia, but didn't have the proper paperwork to board her dog, and then took 'extreme and tragic action,' by drowning him in the bathroom. The arrest report details surveillance video from Orlando International Airport showing Lawrence speaking with an agent at the Latam ticket counter for about 15 minutes. Police say the surveillance video shows Lawrence leaving the counter and heading to the bathroom with Tywinn, then leaving the bathroom without him. According to the report, investigators found the dog's tag and discovered he was micro-chipped, which they were able to trace back to Lawrence. It's just some of the evidence Criminal Defense Attorney Jose Rivas says will make the crime difficult to refute… 'This is a perfect example where law enforcement has done an excellent job. But at the same token, it's at the airport. There are cameras everywhere,' said Rivas. According to the statute Lawrence could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted on the charge. Still Rivas says it's possible Lawrence never sees jail time on since he says the crime, a level 6 felony. 'There is no mandatory jail or prison sentence. So technically she could get probation. She can get community control,' said Rivas. Click here to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps. And click here to stream Channel 9 Eyewitness News live.
