Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary warns of Venmo impersonator
(WJET/WFXP) – A local animal shelter is warning the community of a fraudulent payment app account. On Thursday, June 5, the Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Center made a Facebook post warning people of a Venmo account impersonating the non-profit. State police warning of more DMV, Turnpike scams Orphan Angels wants to remind people that they will never directly reach out and ask for money. If you receive a request for money from an Orphan Angels account, you are advised to deny it. The fraudulent account with the username @Orphan-Angels- currently has a photo of cats as their profile photo. The real Orphan Angels account will have their logo as their profile picture. The bees knees! EHCA hosts annual spring fundraiser with 1920s flair
The Erie Home for Children and Adults (EHCA) took it back to the roaring twenties with an event to help those in need. Saturday evening's Golden Gatsby Gala acted as EHCA's annual spring fundraiser, raising money for individuals with developmental disabilities. Lawrence Park polling station will not be handicap accessible this election Gala attendees wore their best 1920s attire for an evening full of delicious food, dancing and games of chance. The EHCA emphasizes how important the funds raised from events like these are to those in their care. Orphan Angels offers new services thanks to HQ remodel 'This matters a lot to us because we serve some of the most vulnerable. We serve a lot of medically complex people — people that have traches and feeding tubes, and it's our mission to give them the best absolute quality of life to make sure they have what they need,' said Jessica Crougger, director of advancement for the EHCA. CheesErie holds first annual Spring Craft Festival
Vendors set up at a local Erie restaurant over the weekend for a special event. CheesErie held its first annual Spring Craft Festival right outside its doors. The bees knees! EHCA hosts annual spring fundraiser with 1920s flair Visitors saw over a dozen unique vendors and were able to enjoy food from CheesErie along with live music. CheesErie staff hoped to give back to the community with this free event and support small local businesses. Orphan Angels offers new services thanks to HQ remodel 'We were looking into planning something for the community. We reached out to local vendors and musicians in the area to see who was willing to come set up, and just really a bunch of businesses working together to create an event,' said Kalea Anderson, owner of CheesEire. Penn State Behrend turns trash into treasure
(WJET/WFXP) — A local college campus is doing its part to help out the community. The Penn State Behrend Athletic Department, in partnership with United Way of Erie County, is bringing back its Trash to Treasure Sale on Saturday, May 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the campus' Junker Center, located at 5103 Station Road. The event hopes to help break the cycle of poverty by selling donated items at a discounted price. Orphan Angels offers new services thanks to HQ remodel The public can shop for gently used items, including dorm furniture, electronics, clothing and houseware, with all proceeds going directly to United Way. Prices for all items are negotiable. There will be a $5 entry fee for those who shop from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. After 9 a.m., the event will be free to the public. Erie Water Works, Keep Pa Beautiful unite to release litter control boom Patrons should be aware that during the first 90-minute window, all purchases must be made with cash. After 9 a.m., credit cards will be accepted for purchases over $10. Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary hosts grand re-opening after months of renovations
A local adoption center held a celebration Saturday morning. The Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary had a grand re-opening after months of renovations. Purista Cat Cafe celebrating three years with weekend of cat-ivities The renovations that began last April are aimed at providing a better experience for the cats, volunteers and visitors. These renovations include adding a wellness clinic to the building. Lovebirds enjoy Erie Zoo winter hours at Valentine's Day event The sanctuary stresses the importance of community support when it comes to this project. 'The amount of support along the way so that this could actually become possible has been amazing. Our supporters really came and provided an abundance of donations so that this is possible,' said Mary Grace Lacoste, executive director of Orphan Angels.
