WEST LAFAYETTE — Omer Mayer will be a Purdue basketball trend-setter this season. Not only is the Israeli point guard expected to be a pivotal piece of a hopeful championship run, he'll do so in a unique uniform number. Advertisement Mayer will be the first Boilermaker to wear jersey No. 47. Uniform numbers for Purdue's four incoming players were announced on the program's social media platforms Thursday. Along with Mayer, fellow incoming freshman Antione West will continue a tradition of wearing No. 1, the ninth straight season a Boiler will don that number, assuming the number most recently worn by Caleb Furst the past two seasons. WEST LAFAYETTE ― Purdue basketball's quest for a third Big Ten regular season title in four years now has its path. On paper, the Boilermakers' 20-game league schedule for 2025-26 appears to be favorable. Advertisement Purdue faces rival Indiana, as well as Iowa and Wisconsin twice each, once on the road and once at Mackey Arena. Other Purdue Big Ten home games: Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oregon, Penn State and Washington. Other Purdue Big Ten road games: Maryland, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers, UCLA and USC. Purdue's west coast trip, after traveling to Washington and Oregon last season, will be the double dip in Los Angeles, marking its first appearance at USC's Galen Center and its first game at Pauley Pavilion since 1999 when former Purdue coach Gene Keady faced former Boilermaker assistant Steve Lavin. Purdue is expected to be one of the favorites to win the conference, returning Big Ten Player of the Year Braden Smith along with seniors Fletcher Loyer and Trey Kaufman-Renn, a first-team all-Big Ten selection in 2025. Purdue also returns pivotal pieces Gicarri Harris and CJ Cox and gets center Daniel Jacobsen back from a fractured tibia suffered last season. The Boilermakers also add incoming freshmen Omer Mayer and Antione West to package with transfers Oscar Cluff and Liam Murphy. BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — SDSU standout big man Oscar Cluff announced on X Monday night he is transferring to Purdue. The Australian ranked second in the nation this season with 12.3 rebounds per game, one-tenth behind the leader. He also scored 17.6 pointer per game, sixth most in the Summit League and was the only player in the conference to average a double-double, leading to First-Team honors. DENVER (KELO) — The SDSU men fell to Denver 78-62 to close out the regular season on the road Saturday afternoon. The Jacks would trail 8-0 early in the first half but Oscar Cluff would push the Jacks in front by one, 16-15, halfway through the first. SDSU wouldn't keep the lead for long as the Pioneers would knock down a three to regain the lead and keep it throughout the entire battle. The Jackrabbits only had two players score in double digits. Kalen Garry led SDSU with 18 points, and Cluff would follow up with 13 points. They both logged four rebounds. Jaden Jackson would lead the team with seven boards. Joe Sayler led with four assists.
