The Venezuelan utilityman married to fiancée Ari Gonzalez on Tuesday, according to photos posted to their Instagram stories. The 26-year-old had to wear a cumbersome accessory during the nuptials, however, as he's in a walking boot after a gruesome left ankle injury suffered on May 12 in Seattle ended his season prematurely. In the top of the ninth inning at T-Mobile Park, Cabrera ran home to score on a sacrifice fly, but stumbled, leading to the horrific injury. He was then taken off the field via ambulance. It was later revealed that Cabrera fractured his ankle, and he underwent surgery on May 18. CHECK OUT THE AND It seems the time away from the field helped Cabrera and Gonzalez put their relationship on the fast track; the pair announced their engagement on March 13. In what looked to be an intimate setting, the Yankee wore a tan jacket over a white shirt and pants with a white loafer on his right foot, opting to accessorize with his boot over a tie or pocket square. Gonzalez donned a thigh-length white dress with forearm-length sleeves for the occasion. They'll have plenty of time for the honeymoon, as Cabrera is not expected to return to the team this season due to his injury. Before his injury, Cabrera played in 34 games at second, third and in the outfield, posting 11 RBIs while hitting .243.

Yankees dodge a bullet as Jazz Chisholm Jr. returns after injury scare

Yankees dodge a bullet as Jazz Chisholm Jr. returns after injury scare originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It looked bad for a minute. New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. checked his swing in the sixth inning Sunday afternoon, then immediately dropped his bat and held up his right hand. Advertisement He walked straight to the dugout, down the steps, followed by a trainer, and didn't come right back up. His exit hung a pall over Yankee Stadium. For a team already stretched thin, it felt like the start of another bad break for the Yankees. Chisholm trotted back out to third base in the top of the seventh, smiling and laughing with his teammates like nothing had happened. Whatever it was, he played through it. Chisholm tol YEs Network's Meredith Marakovitz that the bat slipped and he hit himself in the hand with it. He told her he was fine after the game. Advertisement That's good news for the Yankees, who've already lost infielder Oswaldo Cabrera for the season and have not gotten much from backup infielder Oswald Peraza. The Yankees have been leaning more and more on Chisholm since he returned from an oblique injury on June 3. He homered and tripled earlier in Sunday's game, driving in four runs and homered on Friday. Over his last 10 games, he's batting over .320 and playing his way into regular at-bats at third. Chisholm's presence in the lineup matters not just because of the numbers he is putting up, but because of the edge he brings. He plays with an edge that the Yankees need right now. Advertisement With the offense sputtering in spots, Chisholm has been one of the few constants in June. His triple Sunday came after a quick adjustment in the box. And with the rest of the offense struggling, Chisholm's return, seemingly avoiding injury, is a huge break for the Yankees. Highly Sought NL Slugger Would Bring Huge Upgrade to Yankees Lineup

With Oswaldo Cabrera suffering a gruesome leg injury earlier in the season, manager Aaron Boone's been left with few options across the infield. It's very likely the Bronx Bombers will turn to the trade block to find a solid option at the hot corner this season. Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly recently suggested the Yankees could swing a trade for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez to fill the massive hole at third base in the Bronx. TORONTO, ON - JUNE 19: Eugenio Suarez #28 of the Arizona Diamondbacks celebrates a single against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth inning in their MLB game at the Rogers Centre on June 19,... TORONTO, ON - JUNE 19: Eugenio Suarez #28 of the Arizona Diamondbacks celebrates a single against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth inning in their MLB game at the Rogers Centre on June 19, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. More"Jazz Chisholm Jr. plays an adequate third base (minus-2 defensive runs saved), but he grades out better at his natural position of second base (three DRS)," Kelly wrote. "Acquiring a third base upgrade that allows the 27-year-old to just play second base would be a wise move for New York general manager Brian Cashman. "To that end, the Yankees—and just about every other contending team in baseball—will be hoping the Arizona Diamondbacks decide to become sellers. Can you imagine how much of an upgrade having Eugenio Suárez in this lineup would be over late-career DJ LeMahieu or Oswald Peraza?" Suarez would be the dream option for the Yankees. Not only is he on an affordable contract, but he's in the midst of a great season. The slugger has 25 home runs and a 2.7 WAR through 77 games. He could eclipse 50 home runs and post a WAR over 5.0 on the season if he stays healthy and continues to crush the ball. Adding this kind of production alongside the talent in the Yankees' lineup would be devastating for the rest of the league, especially the American League East. Oswaldo Cabrera provides update on his ankle injury, Yankees take series from Cleveland

Three weeks after suffering a gruesome left ankle fracture, Oswaldo Cabrera arrived back in the Yankee Stadium home clubhouse. 'I'm not happy to be here and not playing,'' Cabrera told reporters, including before Thursday night's 4-0 Yankees' win against the Cleveland Guardians. Advertisement But Cabrera was glad to see his teammates again and 'to watch what they are doing out there, but I want to be with them outside.'' A few hours later, Max Fried battled through a 28-pitch first inning and tossed six shutout innings, as the AL East-leading Yankees won their eighth series in the last nine. Coming off his first loss of the year, at Dodger Stadium, Fried's ERA is now 0.57 in starts following a Yankees loss this year, and the Yanks are 7-0 in such games. Cody Bellinger had three RBI, with a two-run homer off Cleveland starter Slade Cecconi and an RBI single following an intentional walk on a 3-0 count to Aaron Judge. Advertisement 'Definitely motivating. At the same time, you understand,'' Bellinger told the YES Network about the Guardians twice passing Judge to get to him Thursday. In a two-run game, Yankees reliever Tim Hill pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had three hits and an RBI in his third game since coming off the injured list (oblique). Before the game, manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Giancarlo Stanton (elbow tendinitis) remained in Tampa, Fla., but could begin a minor league rehab assignment next week. Marcus Stroman (left knee inflammation) had another simulated outing against live batters Thursday afternoon, and a decision will soon be made about starting his rehab assignment clock. He's ramping up as a starter, Boone told reporters. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-Imagn Images Saying he's motivated to return as soon as possible, Cabrera didn't rule out a late season comeback but it's a long shot. 'I think there's a small possibility of it,'' said Boone, though a fresh start in 2026 might be a more realistic timeframe. Cabrera will be in a boot for another two months and there was also some ligament damage associated with the May 13 play at Seattle, on an awkward slide at the plate. Advertisement Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe led waves of Yankee teammates to see Cabrera at a Seattle hospital following that game. It was 'such a beautiful moment,'' said Cabrera, a beloved figure in the Yankees' clubhouse for his perpetually upbeat attitude and supportive nature.
