Tennessee Titans make a surprising roster move
The Tennessee Titans took advantage of their waiver wire priority and made another addition to their linebacker room, and in the process made a shocking move to make room for their new addition.
The Titans claimed linebacker Brian Asamoah off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings after the former third-round pick was waived on Monday. Asamoah has been mostly a special teams performer since being drafted in 2022, seeing a total of 188 defensive snaps while racking up over 800 on special teams over 46 NFL games.
Asomoah played 23 defensive snaps and six on special teams in the Vikings' preseason opener Saturday.
To make room for Asamoah, the Titans made a surprising move and waived veteran inside linebacker Otis Reese IV.
It's quite a fall for Reese, who opened the offseason with the inside track on the starting linebacker position next to Cody Barton. Reese, who sat out Saturday's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, appeared to have been jumped on the depth chart by both James Williams and Cedric Gray, and will now be subject to the waiver process.
Reese is the second player the Titans re-signed at the start of the offseason to be released during training camp. Tennessee also waived Keondre Coburn, who inked a deal at the same time as Reese in March.
