Oneonta man accused of shooting train on Norfolk Southern Railway
TOWN OF ONEONTA, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Oneonta man is facing felony charges after allegedly opening fire on the Norfolk Southern Railway on Wednesday. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 33-year-old James Fulginiti following a shots fired complaint in the Town of Oneonta. On Wednesday, at approximately 5:08 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to the area of the railway just off of State Highway 7 and Corporate Drive. Otsego County 911 Dispatchers received reports of a male walking down the railway and allegedly shooting a firearm at a train. Responding officers located the suspect, later identified as Fulginiti, and took him into custody. During an investigation, it was determined that Fulginiti had allegedly fired a BB gun at the train conductor compartment and struck the windshield. The train conductor was not injured during the incident. However, the train windshield was damaged. Fulginiti was taken to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office for processing and was charged with the following: Unlawful Interference with Railroad/Train Unlawful Propulsion of a Missile at Railroad Trains Criminal Mischief Third Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon Third Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree Menacing in the Second Degree Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree Fulginiti was turned over to the Otsego County Corrections to be held for Centralized Arraignment. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police and Norfolk Southern Railway Police. Otego woman arrested on child porn charges
OTEGO, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An investigation into a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has led to the arrest of an Otego woman for multiple felony child pornography charges, the Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced Friday. 24-year-old Amber L. Renwick, of Otego, is accused of possessing and sending child sexual material to other users on the messaging app Kik from her account. In February 2025, investigators received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding child sexual abuse material being distributed from a Kik account, which investigators claim was Renwick. On Friday, April 25, investigators from the Sheriff's Office and New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit in Troop C arrested Renwick following a search of her residence. She was officially charged with: Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Child – D Felony (3 counts) Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child – E Felony (2 counts) Sexual Misconduct – A Misdemeanor Investigators say the case is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Unadilla sex offender accused of recording child changing their clothes
TOWN OF UNADILLA, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A registered sex offender was taken into custody on Monday for additional sex crimes against a juvenile victim. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Christopher DeMarco, 42, of Unadilla following an investigation into a report of a New York State registered Sex Offender unlawfully recording a juvenile victim while the victim was changing in a private room. During an investigation, it was revealed that while the victim was in process of changing their clothes, DeMarco allegedly used a cell phone to covertly record the victim. DeMarco is a level II sex offender. During the investigation, it was also revealed that DeMarco was allegedly in possession of four internet accounts not registered on the New York State Sex Offender Registry. DeMarco was additionally found to have been convicted of Unlawful Surveillance in the second degree within the past ten years. On March 24, following the execution of a search warrant at his residence, DeMarco was arrested and charged with Unlawful Surveillance in the First Degree, Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree, four counts of Sex Offender Failure to Notify Change of Address, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. DeMarco was processed and remanded to the Otsego County Jail to await arraignment. An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim. The Otsego County District Attorney's Office was consulted and recommended that DeMarco be held without bail due to having two or more felony convictions. Gaylord man faces charges of attempted home invasion, resisting arrest
OTSEGO COUNTY — On March 15 at approximately 3 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post and deputies from the Otsego County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in Bagley Township to investigate an alleged personal protection order (PPO) violation. A preliminary investigation revealed that 35-year-old James Dash of Gaylord allegedly drove to a residence in Bagley Township and knocked on the door. When there was no answer, he attempted to enter the home by kicking the front door. Upon arrival, troopers learned Dash fled the scene and observed footprints in the snow leading into the woods. Troopers located Dash hiding behind a tree. Troopers and deputies approached Dash and attempted to place him under arrest. After a brief struggle, they were able to take him into custody. Dash was lodged at the Otsego County Jail and arraigned on Monday in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on one count of attempted home invasion third degree, one count of police officer-assault/resist/obstruct, and one count of malicious destruction of building ($200 or more less than $1,000). His bond was set at 10% of $25,000 cash or surety. His next court appearance is set for March 27.
