The recall comes after safety concerns were raised about the bottles' lids, which can eject forcefully, posing a risk of serious injury. According to the CPSC, three reports were received from consumers who were injured by the lid striking them on the face. In two cases, victims suffered permanent vision loss after being hit in the eye. The recall was issued as a safety precaution to prevent further main hazard with the water bottles is that the lids can eject with force, especially when opened after the bottles have been used to store carbonated drinks, or perishable beverages like juice or milk over time. The notice by US CPSC states that these products pose 'serious impact and laceration hazards,' Associated Press reported. The CPSC notes that when a consumer tries to open the bottle after food, carbonated beverages or perishable beverages, such as juice or milk are stored in them for a long period of time, the lid can eject forcefully. According to reports, Walmart has till now received three reports of people getting injured in the face by the lids while opening the bottles. Two of those three have suffered permanent vision loss after being struck in the eye, CPSC stated. In a statement to Associated Press, Walmart said 'The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority.' The retail giant said that it is 'fully cooperating' with the CPSC and the manufacturer of the product which has been recalled 'to remove it from our stores and notify consumers'.
