Two car crash in Solano County kills one person, injures several
One person was killed and several injured in a two car crash on Highway 12 in Solano County on Friday, the CHP said.
The crash occurred at 5:03 p.m. when the driver of a tan Toyota Camry tried to pass a big-rig in the eastbound lanes of Highway 12 west of Highway 13 in Rio Vista, according to CHP Sgt. P. Crow. The driver swerved, lost control and entered the westbound lanes of Highway 12 where the Toyota was struck by an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder.
The Toyota driver died at the scene and the passengers in the Nissan were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. KCRA-TV reported that the Nissan was carrying four occupants.
The highway remained closed as the CHP investigated the crash. Lanes reopened at about 9:30 p.m.
