Pedestrian identified after fatal hit-and-run at US 29 N, Randleman Road exit, Greensboro police say

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a man dead, according to a press release. At 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Greensboro Police responded to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian at the U.S. 29 North/I-40 East merge and Randleman Road exit, where officers located a man, later identified as 26-year-old Victor Guillermo Jimenez-Rodriquez, suffering from injuries that indicated he had been hit by a car. He was declared dead at the scene. Evidence indicates the suspect vehicle may be a Mercedes, police say. 'I'm surprised I'm still alive,' said Chad Chrin, who walks the road daily. He says the road gets busy, and he worries about his safety. 'You have to watch it. The later it gets, the more dangerous it is … You aren't safe anywhere,' Chrin said. Ungray Locke drives this road daily, and he was disappointed that the person responsible didn't stick around to help the victim. 'If somebody's walking, you should be cautious, and if you hit them, just stop … Call the police,' Locke said. Businesses surrounding the area are working to gather surveillance footage of the area at the time of the incident.
