4 alleged fake plate sellers nabbed in Bulacan
Authorities arrest four suspects in San Ildefonso, Bulacan for allegedly selling fake license plates, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said on Tuesday. In a statement, LTO said authorities conducted the operation on Saturday after confirming information about the illegal activity. 'We immediately coordinated with the CIDG to conduct an operation against these people, and this resulted in their arrest and the confiscation of the fake plates,' LTO chief Assistant Secretary Greg Pua said. 'We laud the LTO-Investigation and Intelligence Division headed by Renante Melitante and our partners in the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for this successful operation,' he added. Seized from the suspects were the marked money, 51 pieces of fake plates, printing machines, computer units, a machine press, four cutting machines, a vinyl reflectorized film, a hole machine, 14 pieces of tray of acrylic letters, three acrylic borders, and a cold laminate machine. These confiscated items are worth P400,000. The suspects are now under the custody of the CIDG. They are facing cases for violations of the Presidential Decree 1730 as well as for imitation and false representations involving license plates under the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. 'We assure the public na hindi titigil ang inyong LTO para matigil ang mga ganitong klaseng iligal na gawain,' Pua said. Isko Moreno: Manila garbage situation to return to normal in 3 days
After saying that a health emergency will be declared in Manila due to the garbage crisis and termination of the operation of two garbage collections, Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday said that he expects the situation to return to normal in three days. 'I think naka-55% na kami. Ang tantsa naming mga three days babalik na sa normalization, hopefully,' Moreno said in a report of Jhomer Apresto on GMA Integrated News' Unang Balita. Dump truck stolen, sold by Bulacan LGU utility helper, 3 others
Authorities are searching for the utility helper of the Marilao, Bulacan local government unit (LGU) and three others after they stole and sold a government dump truck. According to Oscar Oida's Monday report on '24 Oras,' CCTV footage showed the two men driving away the truck from the Municipal Engineering Office. Based on police investigation, the suspects brought the truck to a wet market in Guiguinto, Bulacan, loaded it into a bigger truck the next day, and passed through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The suspects are the Municipal Engineering Office's utility helper, his wife and cousin, and another person. The suspects allegedly sold the truck for P100,000 to a buyer from San Mateo, Rizal, who resold the truck for P400,000 after allegedly producing fake documents. Authorities, by backtracking of CCTV footage, found the stolen truck with the second buyer after two weeks. The four suspects are facing carnapping charges. Transport groups: Fuel subsidy not enough amid big-time oil price hike
Transport groups welcomed the government fuel subsidy in the face of this week's big-time oil price hike but said this is not enough to allay concerns about the future of their jobs and the possible increase in the cost of basic commodities. In Bernadette Reyes' report on 24 Oras on Monday, motorists endured long lines to fill up their fuel tanks before the increased prices kicked in on Tuesday morning. A number of gas stations ran out of fuel stocks several hours before the first installment of this week's big-time oil price hike. Several pumps in Quezon City ran out of unleaded gasoline and diesel, with only more expensive premium gas left. Fuel subsidy Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation said the government's fuel subsidy for buses, taxis, UV Express, TNVS, ride hailing services and delivery vehicles will also include unconsolidated jeepneys. This will be managed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will manage the fuel subsidy for tricycles. Jeepney driver Boy Dingcong welcomed the news, noting the difficulties in traffic and the lack of passengers. TNVS driver Elmer Caduyac said the fuel subsidy is a big help. Some transport groups express gratitude for the fuel subsidy but hopes some problems from before would not be repeated. Obet Martin, the national president of Pasang Masda, said some cards issued by the Landbank did not contain funds. Despite the announcement of the fuel subsidy, the group PISTON proceeded with its protest action, demanding long term solutions as they claimed the subsidy would only last a few days. House to Imee Marcos: Stop pointing fingers, we delivered on San Juanico Bridge
House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante cited official data showing that the House had secured P27 million in funding for the bridge in 2018, followed by P22 million in 2019, P105 million in 2021, P90 million in 2022, and P150 million in 2023. For 2026, a House-initiated proposal seeks to raise that amount to P400 million. The House of Representatives on Friday fired back at Senator Imee Marcos for deflecting responsibility over the upkeep of the San Juanico Bridge. They said that lawmakers should focus on solutions instead of pointing fingers and reminded Marcos that the House has long initiated funding for the landmark infrastructure. In a press conference, House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante called out the senator for turning the issue into a personal attack rather than acknowledging her legislative responsibility, particularly in the national budget process. 'Una, bilang senador, kasama din sa tungkulin niya 'yung pagbalangkas ng budget ng bansa. Galing sa House, papunta sa Senate,' Abante said.
