Courtesy: Calasiao Information Office via GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon Tropical Cyclone Crising, the Southwest Monsoon, and a low pressure area (LPA) affected over 1.4 million people in the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday. In its 6 a.m. report on July 23, the NDRRMC said a total of 1,412,845 people or 401,439 families were affected by the bad weather in all regions except for Eastern Visayas. Floods, landslides, collapsed structures, and tornadoes were reported in the affected areas. The region with the most number of affected individuals was Central Luzon with 616,611, followed by Negros Island Region with 166,335 and Ilocos Region with 157,730. Of the total affected population, 77,108 people or 21,207 families were staying in evacuation centers, while 64,597 people or 13,724 families were taking shelter in other places. The death toll due to Crising, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, and the LPA increased from six to seven. Three fatalities were reported in Northern Mindanao and one each in Mimaropa, Davao Region, Caraga, and Metro Manila. The NDRRMC said two deaths have been confirmed so far. Fatalities In Barangay Poblacion in Mambajao, Camiguin, a victim was hit by a falling tree on July 19. She was brought to a hospital but she was declared dead due to trauma secondary to external injury. Meanwhile in Barangay Matin-ao in Mainit, Surigao del Norte, another victim was riding his motorcycle from a friend's house when a tree also collapsed and hit him. The NDRRMC said eight people were reported missing and seven others were reported injured. Damage to the following sectors was estimated at: infrastructure — P562,387,772 agriculture — P132,959,122 irrigation systems — P329,885,003 A total of 1,642 houses were damaged—1,280 partially and 362 totally. Two affected airports have returned to normal operations. Also, 161 of 216 affected road sections and five of 13 affected bridges are now passable. A total of 115 passengers, four rolling cargoes, and two vessels remained to stranded, as only 35 of 55 affected seaports have returned to normal operations so far. Power supply is up and running again in 113 of 126 affected areas. Water service has been restored in three of four affected areas. Meanwhile, communications lines are back in 27 of 28 affected areas. Classes in 971 areas and work schedules in 412 areas were suspended. A state of calamity was declared in the following areas: Umingan, Pangasinan Cavite province Roxas, Palawan Sebaste and Barbaza in Antique Malabon City Quezon City Assistance worth P78,889,913 has been provided to the victims so far, according to the NDRRMC. On July 16, a low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) developed into Tropical Depression Crising. On July 19, Crising intensified as a severe tropical storm and exited the PAR. Despite Crising's exit, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continued to bring heavy rains in some parts of the country. — VDV, GMA Integrated News

A lone bettor bagged the 6D Lotto jackpot prize worth P1.468 million on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. The winning numbers were 2-9-3-2-5-3 with the jackpot totaling P1,468,345. No one won in any of the major lotto jackpots. For Ultra Lotto 6/58, the combination 55-57-34-06-42-41 would have won P80,820,083.20. The Lotto 6/42 winning numbers 07-23-21-15-02-42 would have yielded the jackpot prize of P78,531,109.80.
