Georgette Ravette, 28, told the 25-year-old she met online that she was expecting his child and demanded cash to keep it secret from his mum. Ravette also ordered the victim to hand over £250 to cover items she bought for a supposed week-long hospital stay. She pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to extorting him after meeting through internet messaging app Kik. Prosecutor Amanda Gallagher revealed the scammer started by asking for small sums. The fiscal told the court: "She told him that she did not have money for a pregnancy test and also asked for cash for new jeans." Ravette, of Clydebank, met her victim online in 2023 and they begun a relationship that April. She claimed she started feeling "unwell" four months later just days after the pair had unprotected sex. The man — who cannot be named for legal reasons — blocked her but received a voicemail later that week. Ravette told him he was a "coward" for freezing her out and demanded "give me money for a test or help get me a termination". She added: "I am a single mother and I am not going through this again. My boy, 14, thought he was innocently flirting with a girl online – 35-minutes later he was dead Ravette followed up with another answering machine message telling him "you better send me money" or should would "tell your mum everything". The victim was then contacted from an unknown number and warned she was going to visit his mother. It was also chillingly stated that Ravette knew where he lived as she followed him home one day. Miss Gallagher told the court: "After this, the man sent £1,000 to Ravette's bank account. "He asked her to let him know if she needed more and she said that she did want more money. "Ravette demanded £1,000 to buy her silence and he sent it. "She then messaged him to say she was going to hospital for a week and needed money to purchase items so he sent her £250." Ravette told him she wanted even more and claimed her 'cousin' was near the man's home. He took this as a "threat that someone would come to his door and threaten his family" and made further payments. Ravette requested another £1,000 as her cousin was "about to go mental" but this time the money did not go through. The victim then received a text from who he believed was the relative telling him: "I know who you are and your family." The man was so worried he was willing to hand over more cash, but the transactions were blocked by his bank. Ravette told him: "I will try and hold my cousin off but if he wanted to do something I won't be able to stop him." The man then contacted the police. Ravette refused to open the door to officers and was not arrested until a later date. Defence lawyer Brian McGuire told the court there was an 'unusual background' to the crime which he would go into more at the next calling of the case. Sheriff Louise Arrol KC bailed Ravette pending until sentencing next month. She told her: "You can take it from me that I find this extremely disturbing, concerning and a very serious matter."

"She eloquently described the effect upon her and her protests. "None of which you accepted and none of which continue to accept. "This incident persisted over a period of time and eventually resulted in injury. "It also caused significant distress and ongoing impact. Asked if he felt guilty, Mr Swinney, 61, replied: 'Yes, very much so. 'I had the classic dilemma of a collision of my personal life and my political life. 'I was wrestling with whether I could contemplate it, given the fragility of the situation at home with Elizabeth's health at that time.' "Although she was slowly getting stronger, I would have had to be at home a lot, because that period had been so tough.' BBC Scotland journalist Elizabeth, 53, had been battled a flare-up of her MS, a degenerative illness that causes nerve damage and unpredictable bouts of pain. After then First Minister Humza Yousaf announced his intention to resign in April last year, party colleagues urged Mr Swinney to stand. Wife of 22 years Elizabeth told The Sunday Times: 'A month earlier it would have been different, when I had difficulty speaking and things were really not going well.
